My lease finishes in Feb 25 so am able to order a new car on Nov 24. Am eagerly awaiting October to see the impact on AP which seems to be mostly on the rise. Current car is a city car but no longer fit for purpose as we need something bigger and a car for long journeys. Starting this post so if anyone comes across any deals in q4 they can share or just comment on what they are looking at.
On my current list are the following: Skoda Karoq, Honda HRV, Mazda CX-30, Volvo XC40, Toyota CHR, Lexus LBX. All depends on what the AP is and also availability.

Would love the Skoda Kodiaq 190 4×4 version. Had the Tiguan but always felt it lacking in power when needed. 150bhp not enough for that big car.
September 4, 2024 at 7:44 pm #287913I saw the Karoq 4×4 2.0 DSG – £4K Ap but the high fuel consumption put me off. Smaller car than the Kodiaq so I think the 1.5 engine will be fine for my needs. Looking forward to test driving this soon.
September 4, 2024 at 11:24 pm #287929We can choose at the end of the year also but I will almost certainly be enquiring about a two year extension.
I am all for as many cars as possible being on the scheme, no matter the AP as it’s all about choice IMO. However I won’t be paying over £4,000 AP.
At present there’s a few maybes on our list with the Audi Q4 probably top but the AP has gone up a fair bit this quarter so unless it drops considerably, it’s a no.
The only person who got all his work done by Friday was Robinson Crusoe.
Anything i post over three lines long please assume it is an article lol.September 5, 2024 at 1:06 pm #287972I saw the Karoq 4×4 2.0 DSG – £4K Ap but the high fuel consumption put me off. Karoq is a great car. Just too small for my needs
September 5, 2024 at 1:15 pm #287973Anyone know if the Scenic Alpine will increase /decrease? predictions?
September 5, 2024 at 1:57 pm #287976Like every other quarter it’s all guesswork I’m afraid.
There will probably be a couple of leaked pricelists a day or two beforehand so keep an eye out for them being posted here.
Please excuse spelling/typos. Apart from being a clot it turns out I had one on my cerebellum that's now causing various problems!
September 6, 2024 at 7:58 am #288014So I’ll be ordering either the Scenic Alpine or the Enyaq 85x soon, then hoping that the Ioniq 5 returns at a reasonable AP, or the top spec Scenic reduces its cost a lot.
They are the 3 models I cant see past, though theres so much choice I cant see the wood for the trees, my only must have is that its a full EV really.

In Q3 the Esprit Alpine was reduced to £999 from £2595 so seems good value. Speak to your dealer and ask them if it drops in Q4, will they match it. I would assume they probably will.
September 7, 2024 at 7:18 pm #288091For those looking to have an EV I would totally recommend the Cupra Born.I’ve been fortunate enough to have some good cars on the scheme and wasn’t keen on going electric but it puts a smile on my face every time and the cheaper running costs are significantly cheaper With home charging 👍
September 7, 2024 at 9:32 pm #288092The new BMW 1 series is now in showrooms in Europe. Seen a couple of videos on it on YouTube and it looks like a great car. I wonder when it will arrive on motability. I would be keen on looking at this but I think the AP may be in the £4K range and is more than I was looking to spend.
September 9, 2024 at 11:26 pm #288217I’m hoping for the VW iD7.
September 10, 2024 at 5:31 pm #288292I’ve got my eye on the Karoq SE L / Sporline. I’ve only gotten until the end of October to get my order in though, and torn as to ordering now or waiting to see if the APs go down.. After paying £500 for my last AP, the increase has caught me off guard!

If you currently have a car, you can extend the lease. Might take the pressure off.
September 11, 2024 at 7:47 pm #288389When my renewal came up I did ask if I could keep my current car (The AP on my car now is £2,700) – I was told as it has over 20,000 miles and no adaptations I can’t. If APs are no better come October though I think I’ll push for a lease extension.

I got exactly the same response from Motability when I asked about a lease extension (higher mileage than yours and no adaptations). However, once I checked the lease agreement and noticed that it included a reference to lease extensions I challenged them on this decision, saying that they couldn’t vary the terms of a lease without consent or notification with an option to terminate the agreement. They agreed to the extension although, in the end, we didn’t need it as we found a suitable car.
September 14, 2024 at 12:35 pm #288627With the increase in AP prices for the cars I’d consider I must say that buying a second hand approved bmw x4 or similar has now come onto my radar.
The large APs don’t justify Motability for me at the moment and show no signs of falling
September 14, 2024 at 9:31 pm #288662A question. I go away for 2 weeks on Tuesday , I’ve ordered a car which I will not be around to collect until the new price lists comes out, if the price goes down, what happens?
September 14, 2024 at 10:22 pm #288663Your dealer should just re-order the car at the new price, it’s a paper based exercise and doesn’t cost them anything or affect the order with the factory. However, there have been a few dealers who won’t do this.
Ask them before you go away, if they say they won’t you can cancel the order at any time and look for another dealer.

September 18, 2024 at 8:19 pm #288861Turns out I didn’t need to ask anyway. Logged into my acount one day and had 2 options – ‘Apply’ for a new car (Essentially just prefilling a load of paperwork). Second was ‘Extend lease’, despite asking MB twice, being told no both times, I clicked extend, got a small page with some info telling me I can still order a new car with no hassle in the mean time, MOT, Insurance etc stays the same, followed by a tick box confirming I was ok with this, then a page to confirm my new lease end date in 2026!

Well done! Don’t forget that you are now at liberty to choose a new car anytime whatsoever from tomorrow right up until the new extended date! Just be aware that APs are showing no signs of dropping and in fact a dealer principal told me recently that they had been told by Motability that they are likely to keep rising, as they are concerned about their exposure to the second hand EV market and it’s impact on residual values.

Agreed. That and the EV push has me currently running around in a Freelander 2 at the minute.
September 18, 2024 at 11:13 pm #288873Disappointed to see the Honda HRV drop off the list. It had a relatively reasonable AP of £1999.

It amazes me how many people there are who seem quite comfortable paying £4k+ APs.
We’re already (currently) paying £75.75 per week for these cars out of our PIP so a £4k AP over the course of a three year Motability lease equates to a further £25.64 per week. That means shelling out £15,817 over the course of the three year lease. Then you hand the car back and have nothing to show for it!This might make sense for those who do a high mileage and live in their cars but surely most on the scheme don’t do that? I don’t understand how many disabled people have so much money to throw around leasing top spec cars. I struggle to pay £1000 APs but needing an SUV for mobility issues I have to do that. I dread to think what the APs will be next time round when my lease is over.

You seem to overlook that many disabled people can and do work and have a very decent income. Or have decent pension arrangements, savings, investments etc. Or have partners etc earning a decent income.
None of the allowances used for the scheme are means-tested in any way, hence those who are in a position to afford to pay a seemingly expensive advance payment for a vehicle of their choice can do so if they wish.
As to whether or not, or by how much a vehicle represents good value, it is rather like beauty being in the eye of the beholder, each to their own!
September 21, 2024 at 12:30 pm #289047Wouldn’t be surprised if this Government means tested PIP.
