I test drove a Mach e twice before purchasing, first time for two hours, the second time for 24 hours. On both occasions, I had a £500 hold placed on my card as collateral/excess.
My Mach e is shockingly bad. Can easily get down to under 1.5mi/kWh! 22 degrees aircon on auto intensity 1/3. Haven’t even dared to do a long trip. My range is therefore between 100 and 150 per 72kWh full charge. Thankfully, I only really use the car within London in this weather and these temperatures.
Thanks! 🙂
Hi Kezo. Not sure if against forum rules but can I ask who your solicitors were, please? Thanks.
BMW headlamps are rubbish when it comes to condensation. My 2014 5 Series that I leased privately had this issue as well as rattling from the Harman Kardon sound system. Funnily enough, the dealership in Kentish Town (which is no longer open) tried gaslighting me with the rattles but not with the condensation. Mechanic sat with me in the car and tried to pretend that he can’t hear a rattle. In the end, I got them to fix both issues to a satisfactory degree.
Congrats mate! Looks great!
Congrats! Enjoy. 🙂
Interesting. Regardless, hope it gets here sooner than anticipated.
THAT long Mick? What gives? I spoke to my dealer yesterday and she said mine should be available by the 22nd of July at the latest and that it’d have been available earlier but that there was a recall that needed to be applied to all Mach e’s on that shipment (or something like that).
Charger is scheduled for its install on Monday. Looks like everyone is working to “just in time” delivery rules in my case. 😅
For me, it’s gone like this: Survey submitted and a couple of days later:
– 19th June: received a text from Ohme to say Fusion Electric will be carrying out the install.
– 21st June: received email from UK Power Networks confirming approval of application for a new electrical install.
– 24th June: received call from Fusion Electric to agree an install date. Earliest available date was 15th of July.
I went with the tethered option (ohme home pro) since I’ve read neither the Mach e nor the charger lock the cable during a charge. Therefore, the cable is just a sitting duck during a charge. People are cutting off and stealing DC fast charge cables these days. Imagine how quickly an unsecured cable would get nicked.
Haha. Yeah, we don’t really have enough kW for holiganism to be fair. It’s no AWD I5. 😅
Fantastic! Congrats mate. Rapid Red sounds faster than Absolute Black!
Meaning? Have you placed an order? 😍
197kW is the new in-house motor by Ford. Like I said, the power remains more or less the same:
198kW – 2023, 2023.75MY
197kW – 2024MY
The new motor has 95Nm more torque though, hence the faster 0-100 km/h.
Don’t take any of this as gospel but this is the most accurate info I’ve been able to glean from various websites. Ford is not very clear in its brochures with different metrics for different MY brochures.
Thanks Bo. That same kid inside made me order a stock 2023 one in black at the end of April but due to Motability’s insistence that the car must be ordered in person and I wasn’t too keen on travelling over two hours just to digitally sign and because meanwhile I found out about the 2024 model, I didn’t go through with it. You are spot on though. I have test driven the car extensively and it is a joy to sit in with enough oomph and with a much nicer interior than the i5 which was my other choice.
Congrats with yours too buddy. Be sure to share pics 🙂
Hi everyone. A bit of info for anyone who’s looking into the Mach e.
I managed to order the 2024 model yesterday. The 2023 model was removed from the scheme a few days ago and technically, the only available model to order is the 2023.75. However, I had asked my dealer (Gates of Waltham Cross) to let me know if the 2024 becomes available to Motability customers and she finally called two days ago to say she has sourced one in absolute black and it will be in the UK in mid-late August (with a remote chance of a late July delivery). It is a 2024 Tech+ pack in Absolute Black and is not a factory order.
For comparison’s sake:
- The 2024 Select has an LFP battery 72kWh usable as does the 2023.75. The 2023 car has a 70kWh NMC battery. NMC functions better in colder temperatures but LFP can be charged to 100% far more often without degradation.
- The 2024 has the alloys from previous years’ Premium model. They are very nice. No aero covers though, unlike the 2023.75 although those are not very good looking, subjectively speaking.
- The final difference is with the electric motor which has ~525Nm of torque vs the old 430Nm in the 2023.75 and 2023 versions. The power (kW) of the motor is more or less the same.
- The 2024 and 2023.75 both have the new key which has the frunk release button built in and the pony logo on the back.
The one thing I haven’t found an answer to is whether the pony puddle light is still a thing on the Select trims or if and when it was removed.
The kind person who helped my bide my time and finally sourced the car I wanted all along is Tia at Gates of Waltham Cross. I’m sure she would appreciate a few more customers.
Thank you, Ele.
Hahaha. For what it’s worth, I’ve test driven the 2023 and 2023.75 Selects as well as the 2023 Premium and the 2023 Select wheels give a much better ride. The least comfortable and most bouncy was the Premium. The car in general doesn’t have the best ride but the premium wheels highlight that even more. It’s the best looking car on the scheme though in my opinion so I’m not too bothered.
Ah, congrats mate. Be sure to share pictures! I have yet to see a Rapid Red one in the flesh but I think it’ll look great. There are a number of 2023 ones, which I prefer, in different colours (black, star and space white and grabber blue) available at Jon Grose dealerships (not central stock). They were happy to sell any to me and I actually tried placing an order for the black one. However Motability stopped it as they insisted I have to place the order in person. I wasn’t particularly inclined to drive for over two hours just to order, not to collect. This is my first Motability order so I wasn’t familiar with that quirky rule. In the meantime, another dealership told me about the 2024 situation and I have since decided to just wait for that. Hopefully the car doesn’t get removed from the scheme by then! 😬
Bo, did you order one in the end? The 2024 model that you alluded to is showing up for dealers now with a 2 month delivery time frame but that’s retail and not Motability. Still no indication as to if, when and for how much they’d appear on Motability.
For your info, the differences are:
– Same battery as 2023.75 which is substantially heavier but fast charges slightly faster than 2023. Charges more slowly in colder weather though.
– Ford-made electric motor with almost 100Nm more torque than the previous motor on the 2023 and 2023.75 ones. 0-60 is greatly improved. 5.6 seconds off the top of my head. For ref. 2023 was 6.1 and 2023.75 was 6.3s.
– most importantly, it comes with the alloy wheels from the 2023 Premium model. The 2024 Premium has different (uglier in my opinion) alloys.
I personally am gonna wait for the 2024 one although the ride of the 2023 Select with 18″ alloys is far more settled than the bouncy ride of the Premium model with the 19″ alloys. If not for the faster motor, I would have just gone with the 2023 one.
Mate, have you ever test driven an AWD i5? I am torn between that in Ultimate Tech trim or just saving £1300 and going for the RWD Ultimate Tech. Another question is does the Namsan come with a pano roof or is that not a thing in the UK market? Thanks in advance.
Just a heads up. The FWD Motion trim is back on the scheme for £695. £200 more expensive than the last quarter.
Thanks for the info!
I guess they have enough demand for the Premium. Who knows… Other than the bouncy ride, it would be the perfect car and trim to get using Motability if you don’t have any specific requirements.
I think I will probably settle for the black too. As you say non-metalic but it does look menacing.
Out of interest, do you have a list of the differences between the 2023 and 2023.75 versions other than the alloys? I think the old alloys look slightly better even though they’re 18 inch and the new ones are supposedly 19. I wish we could just pay a little extra and opt for the Premium.
