With Q3 upon us and the negotiation team finalising pricing, keep your ear to the ground, push dealers for info etc, a lot of dealers will be having meetings and discussions and the revised prices pinged to their inboxes, and some updating their websites before the 1st, it won’t be our usual heads up but let’s see what we can find out.
Good Luck

Ali2 million Volvo cars recalled today, perhaps the reason for no price hikes?
July 1, 2020 at 10:48 pm #117185This has probably been covered before.
Why do we have to pay VAT on extras when Motability don’t.
July 1, 2020 at 10:50 pm #117188
martinoi think extras are VAT free
July 1, 2020 at 10:52 pm #117190Not to us though.
July 1, 2020 at 11:12 pm #117200
ZoeI actually asked for VAT taken off the extras when I ordered in Tuesday and the salesman just laughed but I couldn’t understand why I wasn’t excempt although it may be as it’s not a necessity to have a sunroof etc. I did manage to get 10% off so something is better than nothing
July 1, 2020 at 11:12 pm #117202Having read through this thread, I feel very fortunate i managed to get my xc40 r design pro t4 for effectively £900. These AP are bordering on comical.

@Elliot just found this? I will be remembered for nothing but had great fun doing it ?
July 1, 2020 at 11:22 pm #117208So looking at that it does appear that we are being ripped off regarding VAT on the extras.
July 1, 2020 at 11:34 pm #117213I’ve just taken up the issue with HMRC to get some clarity.
July 2, 2020 at 12:57 am #117231The new prices are a joke, I think they are just trying to recoupe some sort of loss they made because of the virus or maybe put the prices high so us let fortunate one think twice about ordering because factories are not in full swing.
I can change atm but after seeing these current prices I will just extend my lease for 2 years.
I drive a Seat Leon FR which I would like to change, I’ve no no issues but the car is quite bland and as someone who is heavily into cars it’s just boring.
July 2, 2020 at 1:09 am #117233Maybe they want customers to extend until used prices pick up.
July 2, 2020 at 2:41 am #117236Hasn’t the vat thing been answered many times in the past.
It’s because mobility own the cars not us and the aids stay fixed to the car as and when required.
They save the VAT as they have charitable status.
If we bought the cars privately we could claim the VAT back on hoists and driving aids etc
If motability paid VAT AP’s would be even higher.
July 2, 2020 at 2:44 am #117237I don’t think anyone realistically expected any big discounts this quarter with so many companies laying people off and the economy in general.
expect it to take years before we get back to seeing widespread cuts in AP’s.
If it was me I’d be extending my lease now too if possible. It’s the sensible thing to do I think.July 2, 2020 at 3:03 am #117238I’m not talking about hoists etc, it’s the extras we purchase that interests me.
July 2, 2020 at 7:52 am #117244
TonyDExtras and options are not VAT free unless they’re essential for your use of the vehicle.
Also, such extras and options which are added at the time of ordering are not covered by RSAM insurance.

How does what you say in second para work?
In an extreme case if you paid extra for premium paint colour and had an accident would you not be covered for cost of paint in re spray?
Just a thought.
July 2, 2020 at 8:20 am #117249
TonyDSmallcar… don’t know for sure, I’m just going on the RSAM policy exclusions list.
Much the same as if someone puts a hammer through your Panoramic Sunroof you’ve paid £1,000+ extra for, the wording is that it’s not covered.
They are covering the vehicle as per the Motability reference number, not the £000’s of extras added to it.
July 2, 2020 at 8:29 am #117250Yes, TonyD, a warning to everyone:-
from RSA policy, exlusions
equipment or modifications
This means any optional extras, audio or other equipment fitted to the car, which are not essential to enable you to use the vehicle. If you have fitted essential equipment without the agreement of Motability and RSAM, this will not be covered.
July 2, 2020 at 10:08 am #117269I recently contact Motability and RSA as I had a towbar fitted to their car, Motability and RSA asked the usual questions, but both parties made it quite clear replacement or damage to the towbar was not covered, it would be at my own expense.
Unfortunately I have suffered a brain injury and occasionally I get confused and often say the wrong thing.
July 2, 2020 at 10:13 am #117273But what about damage to a third party by the tow bar.
Perhaps I am being too pedantic.?

I don’t know probably covered by my liability insurance, however, RSA do require you trailer or caravan to be fully insured and serviced.

July 2, 2020 at 11:21 am #117286For info for anyone considering a BMW, Marshall’s are extending their £500 cash back offer until the 30th September.
https://www.marshall.co.uk/bmw/motability/
? I will be remembered for nothing but had great fun doing it ?
July 2, 2020 at 11:38 am #117290Just a warning about Marshalls, looks like they forgot to place my order and now I’m expected to pay an extra £600 as the price has just gone up.
July 2, 2020 at 11:47 am #117293They’re saying they won’t honour the price? That’s awful.
Have you contacted Motability about it yet? Surely this can be sorted, Elliot.
? I will be remembered for nothing but had great fun doing it ?
July 2, 2020 at 11:55 am #117295Motability have said it isn’t their problem.
