Only seen videos of the outside and it’s a very ugly and unassuming design. Even with the M-Sport Pro pack added, it does very little for its looks.
Whoever designed it want sacking.
I would definitely clear any post-manufacture additions with Motability and Direct Line before you go ahead. You will need their permission to make changes which take it outside a factory spec. Adding packs is fine if during the build, but picking and choosing bits afterwards is probably going to be problematic, if the experiences of others on here are anything to go by.
It’s still the dealership who would be adding those extras so I couldn’t see a big problem. The extras will be on the receipt, along with the AP so I don’t see much of a problem. The dealership I spoke to didn’t seem like they’d be a problem although he was chasing the price of a night pack up.
As the CLA itself, I came away happy enough, but I drove a Q4 S-line not too long ago and I’m thinking O want another test drive in that before making a decision as the AP is around the same.
Off to Mercedes tomorrow after speaking with the salesman on the phone earlier about a CLA 200 executive. Explained that I was a bit gutted about the premium plus not being in the scheme as it improves the look of the car, and he said they’d be able to add a night pack with blacks out the chrome, tints the windows and upgrades the wheels to the black 19″ AMG ones on the Prem plus. He’s sorting a price out and will let me know when I’m down there tomorrow, but he thinks it’ll be around £800/1000. And they have cars available within two weeks.
Interesting he said that. I just happened to note the terms on their MB .pdf price list as at the bottom in small print it says this:- Standard Metallic Paint only, offer does not include solid or manufaktur paint. Standard car only, factory fitted options cannot be added. Adaptions can only be fitted by a Motability approved insta ller as part of the Motability application, all Motability vehicles are excluded from MBUK campaign support and personalised offers. Selected stock only. Applicable for orders with a confirmed sellable commission number between 03/06/2024 – 30/06/2024. I got the impression from that no options were available for MB cars though I really hope I’m wrong.
He said they’d do it in house at the dealership, so it’s not factory fitted as such, but fitted by them when they get the car.
I’ll find out more info tomorrow, but I do remember when I had a Merc before that I had wanted the black AMG alloy wheels and the dealership said they could change them when the car arrived, but I ended up happy with the ones that originally came with the car.

Arnold Clark have Mercedes CLA’s and GLA’s on their website with price from £3999 to £7999
Nothing on the Motability website though.
Where did you see the email about Mercedes coming back in the scheme?
In this forum phil. 2 separate threads started but I think they both were deleted as admins don’t like speculative threads being started and prefer to let Motability list them first.
Yeah, I think that was one I seen which ended up being false information. I spoke to my old Merc dealership not long ago and they said there were no plans to comeback.
Just had an email reply from dealer and told now *hopefully* expecting my car at the end of July!! 🤬 Will it even come then? Fed right up and will now look elsewhere, ridiculous situation.
What a blow!! July??!! Did you decide to go elsewhere mate? Do hope you had a nice hol love, and nothing spoilt it 🙂
Hi, I’ve not decided what I’m going to do yet. It’s just so crazy after waiting almost 5 1/2 months and being told this. As I’ve mentioned before my main problem is the drivers seat and so few cars fit the bill for me but I know the Volvo seat is fine as I currently drive my own Volvo with the same seat. I noticed yesterday someone posted an email they received from Mercedes Benz saying they’re coming back to Motability very soon and the email showed the GLA on it. Had the older GLA in the past and it was a superb car for me and found the seat even more comfortable than the Volvo so I’m thinking of keeping my XC40 order and seeing what happens. The cars are pretty much exactly the same type of vehicle with same boot size etc but the 1.3 engine will be far better economy than Volvo and the performance fine. Only troubles is that Mercedes also operates under an agency D2C business model now just like Volvo so will have to see what waiting times are like. It’s been around a while and stock looks good. My local dealer has almost all trim levels on GLA’s showing as no more than a 14 day wait! But … will Motability customers be allowed those cars? We shall see. Thanks for holiday good wishes! My wife is mad at me because I emailed the dealer and had the bad news so I’ve promised not to check my phone today or look at cars and just enjoy the sun. lol 😁🤣🤣
Where did you see an email saying that Mercedes were coming back on the scheme? I know there was a post knocking around a while back, bit it turned out to be rubbish.

Hi Phil, No news on Black Editions and i am not sure we will see that come onto the scheme.
Thanks for getting back to me, much appreciated. I’m going to see what next quarter brings, but if the Black Edition doesn’t appear, I’ll be taking the plunge on a 45 S-Line.
As expected the 45 Sport in Black got snapped up within hours. I have managed to source a Pebble Grey, 45 Sport at £3999. Available for March registration. Can i interest anyone?
Probably wasting my time, but have you heard anything about the Q4 Black Edition coming on to the scheme, or any other additional models from Audi?
Many thanks.
Audi Q4 Black Edition.
Mercedes to make a return.
I think BMW were going to put the 2 series coupe on the scheme at one point. It would make for an interesting choice.
Adaptive cruise is standard now on the 45 and above. It is poor show, that £4.5k pack is pretty rubbish now. My shortlist is now just 2 cars unless we want to sell a kidney ?
Tbf, the 45 S-Line is a £55,000 car. You couldn’t touch one for 4.5k deposit and what you’d pay monthly on Motability with insurance and servicing included. Even a private lease would see you pay something in the region of 5k deposit and around £600/700 per month without insurance.
I think some folk forget how lucky we are to have brands like Audi and BMW on the scheme.
Was given a black edition for the day last Saturday and it was even better than expected. Great looks, the cabin was classy, and it drives really well. I’m going to hold off till the 2nd quarter to see if the black edition makes it on, but if not, I think I’ll still be putting an order in for an S-Line with wheel upgrade.
Did you have a 45 or 40? I was in Audi the other day looking at these praying the Black Ed comes on as it looked really nice in the showroom.
It was a 45. Yeah, the Black Edition is a stunner. They also had a Navarro blue S-Line with a wheel upgrade (£150 option) which will be my pick if the Black Ed doesn’t come onto the scheme in the 2nd quarter.
The Q4 E-Tron uses the same MEB platform as the ID4 & 5 and the Enyaq so the ride & range should be very similar, it’s just a different body shell plonked on the same chassis! What you get interior wise & the amount of tech you get is brand specific but, basically they are the same car!
I’ve test drove both the Enyaq and the Q4 now. The Enyaq was initially my first choice, but with waiting times being so long, I decided to test drive the Audi, which is a superior product (in my opinion). This price isn’t too different if you factor in 21″ alloys on the Enyaq Sportline, which I would have wanted.
I’m taking nothing away from The Enyaq, I still really like it, and it’s a much more interesting car than VW’s rather bland effort, but having lived with the Q4 for the day. I personally think it’s quite a distance ahead of the competition.

The q4 black edition is lovely and is the only spec out of the q4 range to have electric powered adjustable seats.
I’d never take their word as gospel tbh, but I do think the chances of the Black Edition coming on the scheme are low, which is a shame. Saying that, it could be anything up to 6/7k upwards if it did make it on, and that would be too uncomfortable for me to part with taht kind of cash for 3yr. I guess I’ll hang on a few more weeks and see if it makes it on, but I won’t hold my breath.
Personally electrically adjustable seats don’t worry me, as soon as I find my driving position, it never gets altered.
We’re waiting for the black edition to hopefully join the scheme, who knows maybe April. I’m not a fan of the sport/s line round steering wheel, much prefer the black edition one. The car we drive atm is a q3 black edition. We were so surprised on how much more room the q4 have especially the back leg room
Yeah, the Black edition from the outside along with the 21″ wheels make so much difference too as I’m not a fan of chrome/silver bits.
The salesman didn’t seem to think the Black edition would make it to Motability, he was surprised the S-Line had made an appearance. I said I’d wait till April to see if anything changes. He said there’s stock coming in regularly now so if any come up in my choice of colour (navarro blue/black/purple) he’ll give me a shout, which my prove too tempting to wait.
Audi gave me a Q4 Black edition for the day, and I was really impressed. Loved the layout, space and the looks…it turned a lot of heads!
Shame the black edition isn’t on the scheme, but seriously thinking about the S-Line with upgraded wheels for an extra £150.
Well that’s good ,but not all of us got that ,cla is different to b class of course.
There was nothing wrong with my CLA Micky.
It seems that most of your problems stem from the car not being right for you in the first place with your wheelchair access and so on. I’m guessing you just ordered the car under lock down without a test drive and it’s not been a good fit since.
Give Motability a call and they’ll terminate your lease early if you’ve still got a length of time to run.
I had an excellent customer/ownership experience with Mercedes Teeside when I had my CLA.
Only disappointment that they haven’t returned to the scheme. I would have definitely used them again.
