Hi, not new to the forum but cannot recall username or password so have registered again! The forum is as always forever helpful.
Ive just signed up for a Volvo xc40 petrol automatic soft hybrid in Pearl white after a great test drive and excellent service from ‘Ben’ at Crawley showroom. Was a little tempted by the pale blue but it seemed a little too flat for me and I always love white! Felt very informed, valued and happy with our choice. May date given but I’m not banking on that but was assured to contact him anytime for updates. Seamless application accompanied by coffees.
Currently have a Peugeot 3008 and will be happy to wave it goodbye but my other half not as much so! ? - CreatorTopic

An update from the XC40 forum by Moss who lives in Belgium and regularly sees what’s going on at Zebrugge. He said:-
The docks in Zeebrugge (i.e. the car parkings) are well over 85 % full indeed, but not so much of Chinese cars. Most if not all of the European auto makers overproduce at the moment, and they use the parkings also, which means that most parked cars are in fact European.
The good news is, according to some Belgian media, that the problems with car transport (trucks and drivers) are mostly solved now, so delivery should soon be swifter, even to the UK (to a certain degree due to the remaining import and paperwork problems). So, sounds a bit more promising… hopefully. 🫣

My stepdad has been driving them off the ro-ro daily for months at Immingham, there’s a huge car park of them (and other makes) and also one at Grimsby docks filling up with Volvos. My dealer that I drive by daily seems to be changing stock frequently 🤷♂️

May 14, 2024 at 8:17 am #277517Makes you wonder, doesn’t it? I remember at one point with Bristol port there was a problem with a shortage of car transporter drivers .. is that still an issue, don’t know?
I’m sure we all agree that the worst aspect since ordering has been the total lack of information and updates from our dealers. I haven’t received a single unsolicited update from my dealer in 5+ months. ☹️
May 14, 2024 at 8:34 am #277518You’re right UncJ not one drop of info supplied. I don’t understand how some people have build dates 🤷♀️ Were we just not told incase we cancelled as they were far past the advised delivery date? At least a build date would have meant I wouldn’t have sold our other car in December. Well it didn’t meet our needs but I would have driven it for however many months to have transport. Mind you it had been in the car garage for months having a new hybrid battery fitted at great expense, hence deciding motability was a cheaper option!
May 14, 2024 at 10:17 am #277532I’ve had one update from my dealer. Rang two weeks ago to say that he’s got a sheet of incoming deliveries and mine is July.said it could be sooner, depends on a lot of things. That’s all I’ve had but I know it can take a while so not bothered asking them. My last car on Motability in 2005 took 9 months and that was only a focus.
It would be nice to have it in July as my current car has its mot in July and due to insurances and tax for the damn thing can’t afford it anymore. Not to mention the repair bills in the past two years. Being a Land Rover I’ll say no more.

May 14, 2024 at 10:58 am #277539My dealership contacted me yesterday to advise my order, that had been sat in Zeebrugge Port’s long stay holding facility since mid March, has now arrived in the UK and has been assigned a registration plate-although there may now be delays getting it to the dealership, owing to having to wait for the onward transport to be full with vehicles and not just the odd one or two. So, at least there has been some progress. Will post any further updates if/when received.

Thank you for that update Sunflower 🌻
When did you order and what colour just out of interest 🙂
May 14, 2024 at 12:11 pm #277554I ordered 020124. (Cancelled first order placed on 281224 and had to reorder to get lower AP.)
I think it was called Crystal White-basically just white!! 😂
May 14, 2024 at 1:58 pm #277563Getting closer Sunflower12 🎉🎉🎉🎉 At least you know where it is! How many cars are on a transporter?!

Ah ok yeah, same as what I did, at least it’s kind of here now!! Won’t be long x
May 14, 2024 at 2:53 pm #277570Hopefully, fingers crossed! I have no clue as to how many vehicles it takes to warrant the ok for the transporter to be deemed fit to go!! I think it’s anyone’s guess, to be honest!! At least I’ve had confirmation of movement, so I’m happier. There was a time where I thought I’d never set eyes on my order, so things are at least, looking up!! Hopefully, not long now, for all of us awaiting our Volvos.
May 14, 2024 at 3:57 pm #277577It’s funny how some get build dates and details about their cars production, whilst others just get a message/call saying “it’s here and this is when you can pick it up”

May 14, 2024 at 4:11 pm #277581Yes that was me! No visibility of car beforehand, but just told it was here, pick it up. I really hope all your cars start arriving in the coming weeks, I do feel very lucky that – for whatever reason- mine has happened to arrive (despite the further distance for it to travel to get here!). Honestly have no idea what’s happening!
May 15, 2024 at 3:41 pm #277653Just had an email reply from dealer and told now *hopefully* expecting my car at the end of July!! 🤬
Will it even come then? Fed right up and will now look elsewhere, ridiculous situation.

OMG 😳 UncJ wonder if I’ll get the same? Is your order the petrol as mine? I don’t understand how others are arriving 🤷♀️ all out of sync.

May 15, 2024 at 4:09 pm #277657Yes petrol. Who knows how this whole fiasco could be made any worse, will we even get a car if we wait?
I just feel like I’ve wasted 5+ months of my life on this and don’t think I’m willing to carry on waiting just in the hope a car might arrive. How could it be the car was expected end of April and now end of July? Has the car drowned whilst trying to swim the channel? Maybe that’s Volvo’s next excuse! 🙄
May 15, 2024 at 4:16 pm #277658It’s utterly chaotic but delivery in July sounds like a May build date with a 5/6 week slack for delivery.
That seems to be what folks elsewhere are being advised now.
If only Volvo had tried to do at least some communications with their dealers/agents/customers, some of the desperation could have been avoided. Things go wrong, and generally it’s how you deal with the situation that sticks in everyone’s’ memory. And right now everyone feels like they’ve been ignored which is the worst outcome of all. Even a brief, generic, monthly update on delays and their reasons would have kept most folks happy/happier I’m sure.
May 15, 2024 at 4:17 pm #277659Yes UncJ probably sunk with all the December orders. There must be others who ordered through our dealer too.
Not sure they’ve answered my email asking about the same car they currently have there.
Are you going to Mazda?
There’s the Motability show at the NEC this weekend.- This reply was modified 4 months, 4 weeks ago by nshaw.
May 15, 2024 at 5:16 pm #277666I think you have just about summed everything up perfectly there Vinny.

You can bet one thing, no way their retail customers are getting the same treatment that MB customers are.
Will look at Mazda but on hols right now. Trouble is the dear AP’s on so many cars.
May 15, 2024 at 6:33 pm #277678Not what you want to be hearing on your holiday UncJ.
You should have been pootling off in a nice new car! 🚗
May 15, 2024 at 9:15 pm #277697Ordered mid January now told expected May build and depending when in May, May have it June. I’m not expecting it just as I’m not expecting a MY24 despite my dealership saying that’s what I’m getting. Maybe, but can’t see how if the factory was retooled. Still hoping to be surprised and agree, am sure non MB customers don’t get the same treatment from Volvo. It all started so well and look now!!
