About time we had some leaks, my prediction big jump in AP just to price condition us for the July third quarter. We can blame on supply and demand due to the crisis in the Middle East.
Unfortunately I have suffered a brain injury and occasionally I get confused and often say the wrong thing.
To be honest after the 1st July Mobility is open to outside competition, the only think they have in their favour, no credit checks and if you lose your benefits, as regards insurance they no longer have the upper hand especially as regards these black boxes.
The Octopus offer a complete package except insurance, the competition will hover and suitable Mobility customers.
Last week I inputted all my details into Martin Lewis site no only did it give insurance quote with 5 star companies it also showed the true retail market value of our current Suzuki Across PHEV £21,500, hopefully this will drop in the next 15 months when I try to buy it off the Suzuki supplying dealer.

The scheme is far from perfect, but at the end of the day we still have a scheme, no one is being forced to join or stay, like some of us I will sit back and way up my options.
There is no excuse to be rude and arrogant, if your not happy walk away, the scheme obviously no longer suits your needs, however, if you change your mind in the future and find the grass is not greener on the other side, you will find there is no way back.
As regards your tantrums and outburst, I hope you do not carry on similar behaviour during your driving.

Can you just hand your leased vehicle back because you not longer wish to continue ?

I am happy to see my lease out and see what happens in the future, I have to admit the changes don’t look good especially that smart box.

And from 1st July you add 20% VAT ?
Unfortunately I have suffered a brain injury and occasionally I get confused and often say the wrong thing.
With the 30,000 mile limit Mobility is trying to reduce their insurance, maintenance and residual values bill, hopefully this will be passed on the limit the VAT on leases after 1st July, lets see.
As regards the trackers if my next lease is subject to fitting the black box tracker or they try and impose it on my existing lease 9they seem to make the rules up as they go on), I will leave the scheme.
I have already started and costed looking outside the Mobility scheme.

At the end of the day you cannot really blame Mobility, the government changed the rule, at least we still have a scheme, it could have been a lot worse.

I blame alot on the media lol. Esso unleaded is 143.9 here, cheaper than Tesco and Morisons. https://www.msn.com/en-gb/cars/news/supermarket-petrol-pumps-run-dry-as-drivers-rush-to-fill-up/ar-AA1ZyfvA?ocid=msedgntp&pc=U531&cvid=69c6a5ff02734274806f81c11b468090&ei=67

I saw that yesterday £138.9 litre, I outside Tesco £145.9 diesel £172.9 but they have run out.
average around here unleaded £152.8 , diesel £178.9
It will go up tomorrow without fail. Glad we got a PHEV

Octopus Energy has report a 50% increase in enquires for solar panes since the Middle East crisis. Fuel prices still increasing daily in our area.

It comes down to who is going to the highest bidder, supply and demand, several of the smaller/independent retailer have already voiced supplier hiking there prices, they are going to struggle

In our area we are seeing fuel prices increasing by the day without fail, I can see speed limit initial being introduced, as regards rationing that will reduce revenue to the treasury I could only see that as a last resort, on the plus side it will gives Ed Miliband more ammunition to push us into EV’s.

Our area is littered with potholes we either go down the pothole or swerve to avoid them, with the black box I would not make it to the end of the week.

March 24, 2026 at 5:02 pm in reply to: Electricity tariffs and setting up of EV home charging procedures #348764Just wait until our friends start adding 1.5p/mile PHEV and 3p/mile EV and who says they will stop there, at 10,000 miles a year that an extra £150 and £300, can’t wait.

March 24, 2026 at 3:45 pm in reply to: Electricity tariffs and setting up of EV home charging procedures #348761My Octopus Go tariff goes down 1st April, however my fixed tariff ends 10th April my new fixed 12 month Octopus Go tariff night rate reduced from 13.01p/kWh to 9.50p/kWh peak 35.53p/kWh to 32.02p/kWh so a big increase and standing charge an 5.5p/day increase, plus they reduced our export from 15p to 12p/kWh we are approximately £165 per year or or £13.75 a month worse off.

In our area everyday without fail fuel prices have increased, online I have seen posts to reduce speed limit to conserve fuel stocks.

I can see Mobility losing customers my wife is far from happy, in our area it is littered with potholes, they have even erected warning signs, we are constantly avoiding potholes. Fortunately we do not need any adaptations and can afford to walk away.

March 22, 2026 at 12:02 pm in reply to: Electricity tariffs and setting up of EV home charging procedures #348450Could someone explain to an absolute EV novice (me) what would be the best setup starting from scratch. For example, I know Motability will provide a home charger and since I’m currently on Octopus for my home supplier and am very happy with them so will Motability install a suitable charger which would work with my home supplier? Or are their better options?
There are much better Octopus compatible chargers than Ohme that cost as little as £100 more to install , but you would bearing the full cost to have one installed, unless your in Scotland and with Bumblebee’s catchment area, then you would get a choice of any of the chargers they install through Motability.
Kezo I am in a bit of a strange position I have a perfectly reliable PodPoint 7kWh EV tethered charger, however, it is not compatible with Octopus Intelligent, even if I lease a octopus compatible EV vehicle ?
Ohme EV are I’m my opinion poor quality, do Mobility give yo a choice of a better EV charger if you pay the difference.

I am going to have to seriously consider my next move in May ?
Given your order window opens before any of the changes take place and Drive Smart at the moment will only apply to new customers, you should be ok for your next car. If during an existing lease taken out (ordered) prior to the new changes and Motability bring Drive Smart to exisiting customers, you should be able to terminate your lease penalty free, as imo it would be classed as a major change to existing lease’s.
They make their own rules up as we have witnessed, the contract is a worthless.

I inputted Drive Smart black box reviews into my search engine, Hasting Insurance came up with very bad reviews on the Drive Smart policy.

March 20, 2026 at 1:31 pm in reply to: Are we going to see a fuel shortage due to the conflict in the middle east #3480572 things spring to mind Most people will simply keep their car tanks full I would hardly call that panic buying in fact I would call that a wise move imo And by doing so it may enable them to be able to get to work and back for a couple of weeks longer You can be sure if you don’t safe guard yourself then no one else will In the present climate if for no other reason I would think that it is a very sensible thing to do as it isn’t going to get cheaper going forward just to add another thought I suspect that in the next quarter and going forward we will see many cars pulled from the scheme and then reintroduced with Higher AP’s Global events are fluid And until the manufactures have been able to fully quantify and until they have future confidence I suspect that trend will continue
You never know if there is a manufacturing shortages we may see lease extensions coming back.

March 20, 2026 at 12:47 pm in reply to: Are we going to see a fuel shortage due to the conflict in the middle east #348052Fortunately at the moment I can run on off peak electric, we are away in early May with the touring caravan don’t fancy get tied up with a fuel shortage with 1500kg in tow.

@Oscarmax When I called them I think they said that their records don’t go back that many years but, as I’m sure you know, as long as you have a few years claim free history the bulk of the discount will still apply. I only have 4 years claim free due to an incident where a skip jumped out at me (
) but I was pleasantly surprised at how inexpensive my insurance quotes were, even for a very expensive and powerful car in the highest insurance group. One small advantage of ‘being of a certain age’
I used Martin Lewis insurance comparison site to find out how much our Suzuki Across would cost to insure, when I was filling in the questionnaire on the site I inputted my registration no it actually gave me the true value of a 2023 Suzuki Across £21,500, Hastings 8,000 miles using 3 year no claims 5 star £481
