The Monochrome Countryman comes with heated chairs but not the steering wheel, if you want either on an E or SE Classic, you’ll have to specify the “Level 1” option package. Which does add some niceties such as the heated chairs and wheel, LED Matrix headlights which are much better than the standard ones, keyless entry and most importantly, the pop-up head-up display which means that you don’t have to keep glancing to the left to check your speed on the main circular display. The Achilles heel with the SE ALL4 is that the range drops compared to the E and the efficiency also plummets thanks to the AWD system. You’ll get 240 miles tops if you’re lucky from the average 80% charge.
The early termination fee is £250 is that correct? After July VAT will push it up to £300? Still, to get rid if the car, not bothered about the gcb either.
Only for customers signing a lease after the 1st of July, customers who have a lease currently or will have one before the 1st of July will continue to pay £250 for the Early Termination Fee.
Switch wifi/bluetooth off in phone..does this hinder or help.
The mobile app version won’t work without your phone being connected to the little plastic IMS wedge. Otherwise you’ll get notifications constantly, day and night, shouting at you to connect it permanently or you’ll get your car taken off you. Always push for the fully fitted “Standard” black box option, as it doesn’t monitor your phone, and you outside of the car and doesn’t witter on about your driving…
What are these “rewards” that you earn or is this just a carrot on a piece of string on a stick held infront of a donkey to make it walk….lol.
The latter one. It’s designed specifically not to give you those rewards by penalising you for anything it seems fit to do so. For example, you braked smoothly but firmly to give way to a car on a narrow section of road, Drive Smart takes that as you’ve mashed the brake pedal because you’ve got feet like joints of gammon and boom, wave goodbye to your discounts in M&S. I couldn’t find one instance of a customer actually getting any of the rewards.
April 15, 2026 at 10:46 am in reply to: Switch Car Rental announces partnership with Motability Operations #353342How long do you get a “hire” car for ? is it for as long as needs be…say months while your car is being repaired or is there a limit…..and what happens when your hire car time is up.
3 months is the maximum time that it’s booked out for in circumstances such as finding a new car in the event of a scheme vehicle rejection or a write-off, that gives you 3 months to order and collect your new car.
Otherwise it’s until your scheme vehicle has been repaired. You get 24 hours to return the car when yours has been fixed by the dealer otherwise the insurance will be cancelled and they’ll come and fetch it within three working days in theory. I say in theory because it took Europcar over a month to even realise that I’d dropped a VW Golf back at the dealer in March before they came and fetched it.Waiting times are subject to how competent the delivery teams are, within three days is the standard, but it can be several weeks if you’ve requested anything bigger than a Corsa, or if it’s automatic or is an “SUV” etc etc. I’m due to use Switch for my car next week, so I’ll report back with my experience.

Classic “Deceased Spec” cars. Old people with more money than sense that don’t realise that they drive about 7 miles a year and could potentially cause 6 accidents whilst doing so.
There’s a point where unless it was garage stored all the time, where it’s actually a negative being sat around for so long. Tire rot, carbon build up, bird dirt etchings, faded paint, trimmings and upholstery. Will it tow a caravan?
Only the AWD version can tow up to 1500kg, which isn’t available on the scheme. The normal FWD one can tow up to 750kg which is pretty useless unless you’ve got a very very light trailer.
Another reason why I believe this hasn’t already been introduced is there’s always a question mark over any used car’s identity and there’s always a risk that the car that a disabled customer could be driving had previously been in an accident, not maintained properly or indeed out of warranty.
At least with a box fresh brand new car there’s no history of any previous accident damage (Or you’d hope not) or indeed the likelihood of anything going wrong is much lower.
In my experience on the scheme, the latter is totally irrelevant because I’ve always been supplied with complete sheds from stock that have gone bang almost immediately but it’s still less likely to happen with a new car.Peugeot Q2 prices
Those are from YEARS ago. The 3008 and 5008 have since been replaced, all the diesels have been discontinued now bar the 308s.
Please make sure that the prices are correct for this quarter and not a previous year as shown here to avoid mass confusion and panic prior to tomorrow.Any particular reason for you to order a car from the factory – anything you could not find with Skoda’s new cars stock locator? See example below. I can guarantee if you call to at least three dealers, one of them will bring this car or any other you can clearly point out is in stock, to them. In my case I originally called Oxford and they refused, claiming it is not for Motability etc. Then I called Reading and surprise – hours later I have signed all the papers using digital signature, without visiting the branch. https://www.skoda.co.uk/apps/stock/carDetail/GBR2606600118282026
I can confirm that dealers can take cars off the ŠKODA UK Stock Locator, my Kamiq came directly from Emden in Germany, and was originally due to be sent to a dealer in Winchester before Weston called it into them. Mind you, I wish I’d have left it in Emden…
I’d take having to pay an extra £1,100 on the lease over the £7,500 excess mileage charge…
They state on the mileage page that the £0.25 per mile includes a component for the additional insurance cover as well. Private leases, outside of some salary sacrifice, don’t usually include insurance at all .. so while I’m not happy with the increase in the slightest, it may need to be ‘a bit higher’ as it’s more than just what would normally be covered.
I take your point too, but the average private Direct Line customer wouldn’t have to pay an extra £2,500 for the cost of increasing their insurance mileage allowance from 10,000 to 20,000 per year as well as any charges on a PCP or PCH.
Why does it mention 50,000 per 5year lease?thought extentions had stopped
WAVs get a 5 year lease due to the lack of availability of WAVs in the UK to fan out the need for brand new ones each year and because they cost a lot more to configure with suitable adaptions for the customer and Motability Operations.
They haven’t mentioned anything about the possibility of it affecting current leases but it really wouldn’t surprise me if the changes in July spread across all users at a later date (Such as the end of the year or next year) if they found it successful for shoving more money into their pockets, like Drive Smart and the tyre policy.
The latter of which is being cut to 6 tyres in 3 years and only a maximum of 4 for pothole or curb damage which certainly doesn’t make life easy for high mileage drivers who have cars that eat tyres such as the Enyaq 4x4s.Hard on WAV drivers. For example – We don’t have the option to travel by public transport / an ordinary vehicle or even an aeroplane. We have to drive everywhere. 10k a year is nothing for us. Sad times.
Same goes for anyone who lives in the countryside / has to deal with incompetent public transport that either costs a fortune, runs late or doesn’t show up at all.
I drive 50 miles a day regardless just to get to work and to get to the nearest major town, that’s without personal mileage such as shopping, going on holiday or any other leisure activities.
Even the most hard-nosed private lease company sets less than 15p per mile. Most of them are 5p per mile like the current scheme agreement.
That means that if you wanted to stay on the current millage allowance of 20,000 per year, you’d have to pay £7,500! That’s absurd!
I cover 15,000 miles in a year at the moment, that’s without the potential of a new job that could push it over 20,000 at the moment.
Oh and they will implement that for current leases. Just you wait. They’re trying to see if they can weasel it past all the consumer protection laws. Just like Drive Smart.
Also, someone remind me how much the bigwigs get paid plus benefits and bonuses? Shameful.
Just as a note about the Yari (Plural):
The Design trim has received some spec increases over what it used to get:
Keyless Entry and Start
Improved “Sport” cloth seats (Much Better)
Wireless Phone Charging“New” 17 Inch Diamond Cut Alloys from the Pre-2024 Excels
Unfortunately the rather essential Safety Pack (Parking Sensors, Heated Power Folding Door Mirrors, BSM, LCA and RCA) is still optional. It’s expected to make a reappearance on the scheme as soon as prices are finalised. Could even be within the next few days.
Oh I already know, if it goes back I won’t be getting another one anyway. I’ll buy or lease privately. Already eyeing up a massive deal on a new Renault 5 Tech at £240 per month including servicing and tyres. After today’s saga I highly doubt I’ll be continuing on the scheme if things don’t improves
Thats not a bad deal on the 5, what wouls insurance be?
It would be about £100 per month on top of that which I thought was very reasonable for a young driver in a relatively powerful electric car that’s almost touching £30,000
You guys need to be careful after 3 cars you will be banned for 12 months or even two years. Under Motability termination rules which by the way they do not have a policy on this in writing as I asked for it under data access. Funny enough even tel conversations they will often not put anything in writing which is not good as any Lawyer and CAB tell you to get everything in writing they outright refuse when I asked them.

Unlike any other insurance telematics system, including Direct Line’s own system, it requires constant location access to every driver’s phones at all times.
This means that you can be tracked by IMS which is an unsavoury North American fleet tracking company whenever you so please. The data can also be accessed by whoever IMS feel would pay the most for your data. I would also think that IMS wouldn’t hesitate to go straight to PIP if you did anything outside of your assessment. It also has a microphone on the facia, which isn’t explained, and can record the interior sound at all times too but they don’t mention that.
The app is incredibly shonky, and is a simple and poor reskin on the IMS One app. All the things in the app immediately redirect you to the Motability website.
It never connects to your phone, especially if you’ve got wireless Apple CarPlay or Android Auto running in the car. It also eats through your mobile data and only works on the 4G network meaning that if you’ve only got a small data plan on your phone, it costs you extra to use. It also drains your battery on your phone thanks to the constant tracking element.
Speaking of Apple CarPlay or Android Auto or even Bluetooth, you get penalised for using your phone on the car’s infotainment system, even if you’re not actually using your phone.Mine has only succeeded in recording a journey once which was the day after I fitted it to the windscreen in which I was heavily penalised for gently braking to give way to an oncoming car. I’ve not had a journey record since and I’ve done nearly 800 miles across various areas and journey lengths.
I’m now getting constant texts from Motability demanding that switch on the location tracking at all times otherwise my lease will be at risk. Even through when I’m in the car, the location tracking is switched on.
It was reported by someone that it’s impossible to get the rewards that they advertise because it’s so sensitive to anything, and you can certainly kiss goodbye the piss-poor gift cards if you drive at night too.
Oh and if you plan on not using your car for 14 days or more, you must report this to Motability and explain exactly why you’re not using your car, otherwise you’ll be at risk of losing your car.
It’s a simple way of single handedly making all drivers under 30 disgruntled to the point where they hope they’ll leave the scheme in order to save a few quid on insurance.
They do state that they will install a normal old fashioned black box to your car if you don’t use Drive Smart. I highly recommend that you play this token because then you won’t be getting text messages telling you how to drive at all times. Including whilst you’re meant to be asleep which is nice. It also won’t track you 24/7.I highly doubt that they’ll make an exception because it’s now written into your lease, meaning that it’s compulsory regardless.
I wish you and your uncle the best of luck and I would highly recommend that you bail out of the scheme as soon as possible if you can afford it. Especially with the upcoming changes which I suspect will be included in the slightly illegal “You’ve signed your contract with a silly electric PIN number saying we can change anything without notifying you” lease.
Update:
The Kamiq is going into the dealer on Friday. This was the earliest that they could fit me in and they have not been able to supply me with a courtesy car. I can’t get the car up from Taunton to Weston before 14:00. They’re now telling me that they won’t be able to look over the car on Friday, which is semi understandable, but they’re refusing to book alternative transport (A rental car) over the weekend for an unknown reason.
I called the Onward Travel team from the RAC but they won’t book me a car because the AA / ŠKODA Assist came out two weeks ago rather than the RAC. The helpful lady from the RAC said that the dealer should be the one who puts in a request for a hire car via 1Link because I’ve given the dealer three weeks notice and the car will be out of action over the weekend. This is what I’d initially gone back to Mon Motors in the first place as that’s what’s written on the Motability website and handbooks.
They did try to get me booked in for the 16th of March with a courtesy car but I was advised by the AA to get the car booked in ASAP due to the potential problems with the clutch / gearbox. All of my previous dealings with Europcar were done off the back of a breakdown with the RAC.
Anyone else had any problems that have been similar with arranging transport?
According to the guidance from Motability, you can either A. Use Kwik Fit at a centre or B. Use Kwik Fit Mobile.
You can use STS Tyre Pros which are owned by Kwik Fit if that’s more convenient.
I would highly doubt that they would allow you to use ATS because Motability wouldn’t have a trade account with them and therefore payment would be difficult and it would be outside of their recommendations. It’s worth a call though.February 20, 2026 at 10:35 pm in reply to: Switch Car Rental announces partnership with Motability Operations #338427Was pretty flawless, apart from them categorically stating on delivery no dogs in the car….the disabled user who is on the Motability lease is blind with a guide dog…couldn’t make it up… I said dogs going in the car, anything less is full on disability discrimination. Never heard anything more about it.
In fairness, it does say now that they don’t allow dogs, but they do allow service dogs so long as the car is returned in good condition.
I wouldn’t risk my white Labrador going in it though, she’d write it off with her fur shedding.February 20, 2026 at 10:32 pm in reply to: Switch Car Rental announces partnership with Motability Operations #33842648% is industry leading.
Absolutely. People only go on Trustpilot to moan usually.
