Fantastic news.
£7k for a VW, are these people insane?
Re; calls to India. Yes – not that the geographic location is an issue or the folks answering the phones, it’s they have no say. No seniority or ability to fix anything, just there to respond.
awful company.
They must be reading my complaints – just logged in and finally showing the drivers tarrif!
British gas have fobbed me off For nearly 9 months telling me they are trying to get my smart meters to communicate- my car charge is about £18 for a 90% battery charge
no idea how to get that rate down cos the tariff is 24pkw no matter the time. I can’t get on the drivers tariff cos my meters won’t communicate – lost the will to live tbh
Time imo to reject the car as not only being dangerous to drive But also as its increasing anxiety levels Liaise directly with motorbility underscoring the fact that the issues being raised are widespread
this is my main concern- is that it’s just one thing after another when I get In the car it’s one beep one error message one issue after another. Too much computer, not enough car!
Lots of us, list of faults is baffling
https://www.ex30forums.com/viewforum.php?f=11&sid=5156cfdd1c78bb581dc80c11554e467c
I’ll list the issues.
1. The car doesn’t have a key per se, so you have to wait for the car to wake up and activate during the wonderful British weather. I was aware of this before the purchase – but it’s comically bad at whether it works.
2. The lane assist is the dangerous part in which it can see phantom vehicles.
3. The entire display can be frozen mid journey and can’t be rectified without pulling over doing hardware button pressing on the steering wheel
4. The ‘key not found’ issue, is that the car will somehow lose track of the key or the card and simply not start, fixed by a reboot of the car.
5. Window wipers (this is a new one) window wipers did not work and I had to drive manually flipping the stick up and down (another issue. But nit a huge one)
6. One off issues = The app routinely fails to connect to the car, so you can’t precondition. Heating – this feels flight black magic, it’s impossible to get the cabin to a warm temperature until 20/30 mins. There is no way to rapidly heat the car, thus must be a limitation of battery cars.
i highly recommend visiting the ex30 subreddit and just watching the various issues. I’ll be very surprised if I have this car in 12 months, I’m not too fussed by all these issues because I suspect they are all software fixes. But they say death by a thousand cuts and this feels like it
Is the MPG really as bad as I’ve read online?
we had one for 5 years and our MPG was never over 29/32mpg. So yeh, depends on the model though. I would recommend it for the drive experience alone, not the MPG.
rosie54 I could well be joining you with the black addition.. Ive not seen one yet only pics, maybe might pop back to Volvo as when I went in Nov 24 it wasn’t there, everything but, the xc30 I think looks amazing for what it is.. And yes a Happy New Year and good luck for 2025 🎉🎉
I’ve just posted this elsewhere but please think long and hard about the ex30, I am very close to returning my car because it’s unreliable and borderline dangerous.
I see the ex30 is now £3999
at £1999 -£750 It was barely an acceptable amount, they are smoking something else if they believe doubling the price is acceptable. Avoid this car at all costs, it’s a disaster. I wish I we never bought it, absolutely comical amount of issues.
December 31, 2024 at 12:12 am in reply to: Electricity tariffs and setting up of EV home charging procedures #295501BG are having a Green Flex event tomorrow, half price electricity between 11.30am and 1.30pm. You have to register by responding to the email.
and have a smart meter installed, AND communicating. Mine has been installed for 3 months and still isn’t communicating.
avoid British gas like the plague.
Our ex30 said it was 6 miles annd 4% off the battery a 2mile journey today.
Short journeys are never very efficient, cars always suffer, petrol or EV. How you getting on with the EX30? Its a good looking car and will turn heads wherever you go.
lovely car, horrible software. If you can tolerate that it’s fine. Which I do, just about. It’s not a show stopper it’s just not an enjoyable experience. I only do short drives so it’s fine. Those who rely on longer journey would pull their hair oot

Why does it matter what tarrif you add, it’s your utility supplier that charges you, not the ohme device
November 4, 2024 at 10:11 pm in reply to: How much would I save Electric vs Petrol? My petrol figures below #292825As you are doing more than twice the national average miles (15,000) imo Octopus could save you a ton of cash. If you mostly home charge Do your own sums Octopus rates vary by region and off peak rates will need a close look at.
Thank you, I wish people would stop claiming that octopus is the best thing since sliced bread, their tariff was more expensive than my current British Gas my miles.
October 18, 2024 at 11:30 am in reply to: Volvo announces new entry-level EX30 and new XC90 trim levels #291265Just signed up for a new two year deal with BG, so i cant leave at the moment. My bill (with BG) is/was lower than the Octopus projected was for the entire year, i suspect once i move to the Drivers tariff it will be approx the same.
October 17, 2024 at 5:14 pm in reply to: Volvo announces new entry-level EX30 and new XC90 trim levels #291224@crippleddad You do know British Gas have an EV tariff it used to be 8p/kwhr or something like that, 5 Hours of cheap charging at night. Its free to signup…. You really should be using that option dude
yeah I wrote about it here https://forum.whichmobilitycar.co.uk/forums/topic/do-we-need-a-sticky-for-tariffs-and-charging-scheduled/page/10/#post-291209
I can’t use their ev tariff until i get smart meters, which is imminent, i have an appointment booked for a few weeks.

This is where i got the number from @brydo.
And they also say, but obviously this won’t apply to me since i don’t use their Hive Smart Charge.
https://www.britishgas.co.uk/energy/gas-and-electricity/ev-tariff.html
With SmartCharge, you could get a 4p/kWh credit saving on all your EV charging with Hive SmartCharge.2 Combine this with our Electric Driver tariff, and you could be paying an equivalent of just 3.9p/kWh if you plug in overnight between 12am – 5am.
October 17, 2024 at 3:23 pm in reply to: Volvo announces new entry-level EX30 and new XC90 trim levels #291214just an update, ordered my ex30 in august, picked it up late september,
Cost was 1999, minus 750 new car payment and 350 good condition bonus made it a very acceptable payment for a very advanced car. (about 800 quid all in, given the disgustingly high prices, this was fine to me)
The car itself, is an EV and completely electric an computerised, it’s not for the faint hearted if you are not computer savvy, the entire car is practically controlled by a large tablet interface, temp, music, navigation. Do i enjoy it? Yep, it’s a lovely and VERY fast drive, i am not a fan of fast driving, but it can move very quickly. The only thing i am not happy about is the extreme lack of backroom seating, its usually just me and my son driving, so its not an issue but a few extra bodies would probably struggle, the boot is not huge either. i got the car with 97% battery, that last about 1 week and i have done about 147 miles which is not what i was expecting, that seems very low.
I’m overall – very happy with the car, i knew we had to eventually move to an EV and the ohme install was done in about 15mins, the guy showed me how to use the app an what to expect, i have not done a full charge yet, as im gonna wait for that half price thing on Sunday from British Gas.
October 17, 2024 at 3:02 pm in reply to: Electricity tariffs and setting up of EV home charging procedures #291209Hoping someone can help me, I have zero idea about public ev charging, it’s a huge mess to me – I like the idea of free charging but it seems I need about 20 accounts to use these free services. Can I not just turn up and plug in and charge? https://electriccarguide.co.uk/is-it-free-to-charge-electric-cars-at-supermarkets/ these all talk about various requirements such as bp pulse
The days are long gone for free public charging. Yes, you sometimes have to sign up for about 6 charging companies to use their charging stations. But the govt brought it i to law that the chargers must be available using just a credit or debit card. Some work some dont. Public charging an EV is as costly as filling up an ICE car at a petrol station.
Thanks – they do look as common as hens teeth from my limited experience. I wish i had been told i needed smart meters at home before buying a EV, i am paying 25p kw to charge my car (20-80% cost is about 17quid by my maths) i will be upgraded to smart meters via british gas after 6 years of asking soon and get the very cheap 5p(?) late night charging tarriff, but sadly i will be whacked with the new price tariff, i hope will still save money in the long run cos i won’t be paying petrol prices.

My car was £1999 AP, which was the same price as my previous car 5 years ago, I got £750 for the new car payment and ~£350 good condition bonus payment which made the car cost to me £900
I got half the good condition bonus earlier during Covid etc, but the total cost was even less. Very happy despite the horrific high prices we are all facing.
I collected our Volvo recently it’s the ex30 and comes with a data connection. How long does that last? Is it 12 months or?
4 grand for a Peugeot hahah
