How are you out of pocket… it’s a motability car so you get onto them for a replacement vehicle while yours is being repaired ?♂️

@Bowly101 you sound like you know what you’re doing driving in bad weather but here’s my advice… use the regen ?
I know you’ll soon work out yourself what’s best but on one hand they say using engine braking but on the other not to use regen cause it can lock the wheels and cause a skid… that’s not how it works unless they’ve changed the laws of physics ? once that wheel has stopped turning there is no regen plus regen normally stops about 5 or 10mph (depends on the car?)
Also I thought the funicular was out of order again ?
?? the guy on the news doesn’t count cause he was at… I’d also heard he ran a light and rather than get done again made it up to blame the car ?♂️ who knows ? but check out any photos of his car and it is undamaged ?
Haven’t seen the one in the offers group but who drives home only using regen if their brakes have failed ??
I’m not saying it can’t happen cause all these cars are full of electronics but it’s not a thing I’ve heard about in my time ?♂️
MG ZS has a few reports of brakes failing and cars only stopping with regen and a soft bump.
I’ve had the MG5 since Feb 2021 and I’m on a couple of MG forums, I can’t say I’ve ever heard of this.
Asking for an automatic only is a very wide spread… from a tiny Hyundai i10 to Vauxhall Vivario van.
What do you need, what do you want, do you carry a wheelchair, do you carry many passengers, do you do long journeys, what’s your budget, are you under 25…. etc ?♂️
Answer some of those questions, research the Motability website to narrow the search then start phoning dealers ?

I’ve had 3 EVs, 2 with heat pumps and 1 without.
Having a heat pump is better for economy when it’s cold ??
The only difference I notice is that this car without the heat pump seems to have a bigger variation in economy from summer to winter than the ones with.
It makes no difference to the heat the car can generate inside the cabin for the passengers, heated seats and steering wheel make a difference.
Like a lot of things on cars today, nice to have but I wouldn’t pay extra for it.
A preheated cabin and a windscreen cover are no use if the screenwash is frozen in the bottle, in the pipes and in the nozzles ??
And while an ICE will produce excess heat that was only really effective when the screenwash was mounted on the bulkhead, nowadays they’re all near the very front on the engine bay or under the wing… furthest point from the hot exhaust and most exposed to the cold.
No warning light is annoying but if you’ve got a rear wiper it’ll run out of fluid first so it gives you a little warning to top up
Winter range is less than summer obviously but unless you’re travelling 200+ miles a day it isn’t an issue and not as bad as some would like you to believe.
People ignore the fact that an ICE is also less efficient in winter and that it usually needs to sit stationary with the engine running just to clear the screen, while most EVs can preheat so it’s already warm when you get in.
Can I ask what cables did you get in the boot did you get ie- charging cable , granny charger and vehicle 2 load ? still waiting to collect my i6
V2L cable only came with the First Edition models so unless your dealer is feeling generous I’d rule that one out.
I’m sure Motability cars used to come with the granny & type 2 cables but maybe they’ve changed that now EVs have become so common ?
I’ve had all of mines usually fully charged. The first one in 2014 was at 80% because you could set it to that limit and general thinking was best to keep to that. The other 2 were over 90% but just say to them you need it charged.

For the longer trips I’d recommend Gridserve, Ionity, MFG and FastNed chargers, Instavolt are also excellent but tend to have less space around them so depending on your disability can be more awkward to use.

As already said, it’s an instant heat so in a couple of minutes it gets warm without having to wait for the engine to warm up.I too have been on at Motability every chance I got over the years about being financially punished for being a wheelchair user and needing an automatic, got nowhere with it ☹️
I used the Ford Focus as an example years ago that there should be a difference in price for a base, mid or top spec model but manuals and autos should have no financial penalty.
Help narrow it down a bit… what are your driving now, can you get in and out of a salon okay or do you prefer the higher SUV and how high can you manage. Do you need to carry any wheelchairs or scooters. If a hybrid could you charge it at home, could you manage public charging.

It seems from the Facebook group its not a very comfortable vehicle on long journeys its long and wide with a large turning circle which can make parking difficult I would thoroughly test this vehicle out first, looks a lovely car

I’m not sure which Facebook page says that because the one I’m on and every other report says the exact opposite… it’s a big comfortable cruiser and with the 360 cameras, parking sensors and good visibility is easy to park?Quote from Honest John:

@POPS I agree folk can have their own opinions on whether an EV is for them or not… but to say you wouldn’t buy one, and advise others to avoid them, because of one very biased YouTube video is as silly a statement I’ve heard in a long time, if not downright fear mongering.
But to then proclaim the benefits of a petrol car after 1 faulty car destroyed a whole multi storey carpark and hundreds of other vehicles ?♂️
Make the choice between EV & ICE for your own reasons but don’t spread misinformation, and if they don’t know the facts then they should ??
I try to ignore the uneducated bile that some people want to spew on here but this is just too much… I seen the videos and they were totally pointless, like comparing a transit van with a fiesta to ferry a 4 piece band between gigs ?♂️
Haven’t heard anybody say they’ll never buy another ICE car after one went on fire in a multi storey carpark that’ll now have to be demolished ?
Personally I’m on my 3rd EV in 9½ years, 4th should be getting ordered tomorrow from Gateshead. I’m in Glasgow but a 300 mile round trip isn’t a problem. I am doing over 17k a year, have done plenty of 400+ mile days and never been stuck. We still have a 12 year old diesel with 100k on the clock that we keep only because it allows my wife to get out & about if I’m away on a road trip in my EV, otherwise it’s my car that gets used for every journey.
What’s the seat height like in these? Having had a look at the specs these are really well equipped with heat pump, heads up display and wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto all as standard. The considerations are access and whether we’d want the dog on the back seat (Pug, so not huge).
It has wireless phone charging but android auto and apple car play still need a wire.
@DumfriesDik not seen them but I’m sure the adaption companies will come up with something… or I’ll just use my portable ones ?
As a hand control using person, I am also concerned that the gear lever is at the 4 o’clock position on the steering column and sticks out as far as the steering wheel. I have not had a chance yet to speak to the two hand control manufacturers about it. But you can get the push pull hand controls for the left hand side, I am still avaluating the pros and cons of that posability.
I messaged Beker & Gosling about this. Beker called me back and will have a look at a car next to get a rough idea, no word from Gosling yet.
Sitting in my own car now looking at the photos I reckon it’ll just fit although it’ll be just a little bit lower than normal ?
What about getting push/pull hand controls fitted, the drive selector on the right of the steering wheel looks like it may be in the way? I will be calling Beker, Gosling etc later to ask them ?
Colours, are there any restrictions on the colours available to us?
