Keeping up my commitment to actually look at cars 🙂
Tomorrow I have a Hyundai Ioniq 6 for the day, if anyone wants any details that haven’t been answered then please let me know.
It has started off well, their confirmation email was textbook!

Picked up an Ioniq 6 rwd ultimate yesterday in Abyss black with every option available including digital mirror and smart park. Ordered last week Tuesday, so pretty quick collection turnaround. It had 350 miles of range at 100% charge, drove about 95 miles at an average of 67 mph on the motorway and still have 255 miles of range left. The ride comfort is exceptionally smooth even on the 20″ wheels. It is tech loaded, so will take some time getting used to… It even automatically changed lane on the motorway which I never knew it had the option. So if you have any specific question, require measurements or a mini review of any option, let me know and I’ll do my best to provide feedback.
We went look at the 5 and 6 yesterdsay, mrs kezo fell in love with the 6 where as I’m mmm not sure on da shape lol.
The one in the dealers was the first edition and was told around 2 months for delivery. Where did you get yours from?
What do you get with the smart pack and cost?
Do you know whether it has a Heatpump to help with cabin heating as Ive read mixed answers?
Its pleasing to hear the range you got as reviews say closer to 300 miles. What did that translate to in miles per kWh?
Some pic’s would be nice 🙂
October 18, 2023 at 11:50 am #238995I do like the Ioniq 6 but having a dog it is not practical for us.

It would have been so much better if they had made it an hatchback!

----------------------------October 18, 2023 at 1:30 pm #239035@Kezo, I got the car from Ancaster in London, they had few i6 in stock with immediate delivery. From memory they had few of the gold matte silver and byte blue in stock.
Same here, the wife liked it the very first time we saw it at the dealer, I was super skeptical of the profile but it grew on me.
Hmm I honestly never thought of the heatpump, thought it came as standard, I have reached out to Hyundai for confirmation. That being said, I pre-heated the cabin this morning using the app(Bluelink) and it worked great, so I’m highly certain it comes with one.
One good thing is you can actually select the pre-heat temp which goes up to 27 degrees and you have the option of what gets pre-heated (seats, steering, windscreens, washer fluid etc)
I need to try the smart park myself, however the dealer demonstrated it by using the key to drive it out of the parking lot, as I understand, it could reverse parallel and reverse bay park as well.
The efficiency is great, I achieved an average of 4.5/kwh that’s without trying too hard. My last car E2008 was very thirsty only managed 2.8 at best.
It’s pouring down with rain atm but will take couple of pics once the weather clears up.
October 18, 2023 at 1:38 pm #239037I thought the ultimate came with a heat pump. pretty sure it is on the equipment list as standard in the brochure.

Callmejohnkezo my dealer told me that the 6 comes with the heat pump and I have watched several YouTube videos that confirm the fact that it comes with a heat pump.
October 18, 2023 at 1:56 pm #239045Thanks @Slimtrim however you never mentioned what the smart pack gives and couldn’t find it on Hyundai’s site when going through build your car 🙂
I noticed in the spec’s the Ultimate comes with heatpump as standard!
October 18, 2023 at 2:08 pm #239055Apologies @Kezo for the confusion, I was making reference to the remote parking feature called smart park 🙂

October 18, 2023 at 4:09 pm #239078@kezo it’s getting harder to not start thinking you might be turning to the electric side?
I quite like the shape of the I6 but need the extra height from the I5.

callmejohn@kezo, The Smart Pack comes as standard on the Ultimate, the only option you can add to the Ultimate is the camera wing mirrors at £995.

Thanks John however not sure I’d want the mirrors tbh 🙂

callmejohn@kezo, No I didn’t either irrespective of the £995 price, I would never have paid that, even if I could have afforded it. Also I would be afraid parking it somewhere where it could stand out as a target for some numpty to get a kick, breaking them off. But anyone who has ordered it, I wish you well with them, as they do look cool.
October 18, 2023 at 10:03 pm #239130@MFillingham I think your correct kezo is on the turn ? it shouldn’t be a surprise though as he seems a very bright guy ?

How long have you been told delivery will take?
October 24, 2023 at 7:07 pm #239856Kezo, I could have had the choice of three colours in the Ultimate to take strait away, all with Black interiors and a few Premium ones as well. But I fell for the Ultimate Red Metalic with two tone Grey interior which was their showroom car which they wanted to hold on to. But it turned out it was also the All Wheel Drive, which unfortunately is not on the Motability list. So I could have had the Red with Black interior brought up, but not with the Grey interior. So I plumped to wait for a Factory made car, which apparently will not arrive until about April next year, which is suppressing considering that it comes with no extras.
However as I am totally happy with my Kia Optima Sportwagon GT Line S, which has only done 14,000 in five year and I am in no hurry. Also I am quite happy to get my new car in April when the good weather is supposed to arrive, rather than getting it in the dark dreich Scottish winter weather that we get up here. Although I would not be surprised to get it sooner as the first (non Hyundai) Motability sales person was suggesting January.

October 25, 2023 at 8:09 pm #239981Thanks @slimtrim I was hoping they were at least all season, rather than summer tyres especially given its RWD. I live in a hilly area and the roads can get quite dodgy in the winter months.
More to the point, how are our finding it and what mpkWh are you geting?
It looks very nice with the light coloured interior, I’ll have to bend mrs kezo’s ear if I decide to go for it 🙂
October 31, 2023 at 10:46 am #240966What’s the seat height like in these?
Having had a look at the specs these are really well equipped with heat pump, heads up display and wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto all as standard. The considerations are access and whether we’d want the dog on the back seat (Pug, so not huge).
