Me too A.M. ordered last week delivery end of July early August, got a commitment from dealer if prce does go down I will get it for the new lower AP
ROY
Hi were you thinking of delaying until 1st August for the new plate? if so Motability will not have that,
but good luck trying
ROY
Hi all, this has been on youtube for weeks now, bland does not even cover it, imo,
could have been a fantastic new arrival and the Qashqai (Rouge sport) is going to look just like it, shame, as always only review the very top spec, (they all do it)the Motability ones, when it does become available, will be low to middle spec. and if top of the range does appear it will be a huge AP. All round a disappointment but will mean plenty of deals to clear ‘old’ models next year.

Hi all a couple of offers from Marshalls

Vehicles must be ordered and registered by 30 June 2020.

ROY
Hi there,
the Motability magazine Lifestyle has a page to praise dealerships and salesmen who have gone that extra mile, drop them a line (email) and ‘name and shame’ it’s one of our only times our voice gets heard by ‘bad’ dealers, if it gets out into the public, nobody likes bad press, it hits sales, hence salesman pockets, might make some of them look a little more closely at their conduct.
just a thought
ROY
P.S.
I have never seen anything in this magazine relating to when to pay any Advance Payments, (too much of a grey area me thinks?)
Hi Chris, after over 24 years with motability I can say that BMW dealerships are the most uncaring, I have been into them three times now and have always been treated as a second class customer and a total lack of respect not shown by all the other dealerships I have experience.
My list (just for fun) of the dealerships which I felt as if they did give a f…. are
5 ) Fiat (haven’t used them for nearly 18 years though) My first 2 Motability cars very thoughtful sales team.
4) Citroen (again some time ago but used twice)
3) MG could not do enough for me, free touring car tickets, free matts and a free full tank of petrol always a free valet after service, as well as a £300 cheque when I collected the car as a thank you. My next car will be an MG
2) mercedes (my current car) good all round but I did have the same salesman there I had used at Nissan but still had to pay the advance payment when I ordered the car and not on collection as with everyone else
and that puts Nissan in top place at number 1, well deserved certainly my favorite dealership, just need some newer models other than the new Juke, the new qashqai and x-trail don’t look special enough for me, a little bland.
BUT I HAVE NEVER BEEN REFUSED A TEST DRIVE FROM ANY DEALERSHIP, LOOKS LIKE BMW HAS NOT CHANGE TO MUCH
ROY
Hi all, right straight from the dealership, I went today to test drive and order after test drive, sat down to fill in the order paperwork, when it came to discuss the AP, as I wanted to make sure he wasn’t going to ask for it today, he said of course not, no dealer asks for it when ordering, to which I had to put him right again and that Mercedes dealership made it very clear no AP paid when the order is made no vehicle, so I requested that I had in writing that should the AP go down I would be able to pay the lesser AP, the salesman looked horrified and said no the AP is fixed by Motability and he could not change it if the AP reduces before delivery (12 weeks, so actually could be in Q4 when it is delivered) that was a shame but nothing he could do, I said ”well that’s not exactly true is it”, after a little bit of twoing and throwing he could see I was like a dog with a bone and wasn’t about turned over about this, luckily his manager was just walking by the desk and made the grave error of saying, ”everything O.K.” with a nice friendly smile
I then went on to explain the above to him, his words were ”oh ! want I do if that happens and the customer notices the change in the AP is now lower (excuse me I am still sitting here) I just make out a new order with the new AP”, Motability hasn’t a clue what we do anyway (sorry still here) and he walked off.
so my question still stands, who makes the rules and what are they, I think I can answer this now myself with just as much clarity as anyone else, anybody.
thanks for reading
ROY
Hi JS,
well, thank you for your fine detective work, for years I have never seen that, (off to Specsavers when they are fully open) that’s all I wanted a full and clear answer thank you so much.
ROY
is it me or has DS been removed from MB search?
ROY
Hi all,
MG state that all models are still available under Motability…. the PIP advance payment is marked as ‘TBA’

This is a very good scheme for NHS workers,we have had a ‘salary sacrifice’ car for years now three year lease no deposit servicing, road fund duty, insurance for NHS worker and spouse, had Peugeot 208, Nissan Juke tenka, now a Toyota CH/R dynamic, never a problem with any of them and call center first class.
can use their online ordering (not these days though) you can configure your chosen model and add any extras you find listed by manufacturers, I found this helpful to find all the equipment fitted to different vehicles.
downside is that prices are I think high, no discounts,Run by Tusker for the use of health authorities monthly payments deducted from your pay so must be a NHS worker and your health authority agrees.
but trouble free, worry free, way to own and run a brand new car.

Hi BS, I too had a private plate bought for me by my children and had it fitted to my Vauxhall Astra GTC no big problems but here are a few things to remember:- the plate MUST relate to you and nobody else so if it was say S? 19 HGE that should be fine but not if it said D? 19 HGE for instance or if your vehicle say a Mercedes then MB 19 HGE should be alright, my plate was S200GTC and was agreed to without any problems, as was USA 21 which I had on a Chrysler PT Crusier
you must purchase the new plates yourself (a word of warning the EBAY plates, although cheaper are NOT DVLA approved you should have the kite mark and the dealership name showing, but if you are a fast talker you may get away with them once if you are pulled over by the police but you didn’t hear it from me)
the spacing must by legal, no messing with the lettering such as JO3 HGE must read J 03 HGE common sense really if it looks wrong it probably is.
A huge £80 to be paid to the DVLA but Motability do not add anything to this,
Now as for getting them fitted as few pointers, once agreed by Motability speak to the dealership where you ordered you vehicle as, which happened to me at MG when I had an MG6 they were not fitted on the car or indeed even register to it even though the dealership had the actual made up new number plates supplied and paid for by me for eight weeks, as a by the way the SD card with the satnav was also missing but they did give me a £300 cheque as a ‘sorry’ payment so all well in the end.
Make sure that all parties know want you are doing with regards to the new number plate, Motability, RSA and the dealership weeks before you collect you new vehicle then hopefully no nasty surprises on collection day.
If you intend to keep your private plate for many years, as I did, fitted to the Astra GTC, MG6, Nissan Qashqai left on when I collected my Mercedes GLA as Mercedes would not fit private plates until after the vehicle had been collected and having already laid out three lots of £80 I decided to get rid, remember that Motability will amost always agree to the transfer to your next vehicle or you can put it on retention or just let it go with ‘old Motability vehicle.
A private plate does is not for everyone, but it does make the vehicle feel more like your own, even though it’s not, so if you want to go down this route all the best, if I can be of any further help please just let me know

just in case anyone was wondering my DOB 13/10/53, where does the time go, seems only yesterday I saw a policeman walking down my street, milkmen in electric floats (long before it became fashionable), also where have the paperboys /girls gone?, postmen in smart uniforms with caps, hedgehogs, the great days seem to have long gone along with rickets and Woolworths.

Thank you all so much for the warm welcome, let me say right from the start, we are all individuals and ‘one size fits all’ does not work for me, anything I might add to a topic are just my thoughts but I really do hope they may help and not be viewed as just hot air, as I see it everyone has a point on some issue but may feel it’s flippant or unimportant, air it anyway it may just be the question or issue someone was wondering themselves.
Anyway if anyone wants my views on the current Motability scheme ask away. On a personal note I do love cars and motorsport so what are your views on a section on this platform to discuss modifications made to you vehicle (which must be within Motabilitiy rules) the way it has been explained to me a long time ago was ‘ if it can be removed without causing any damage to the vehicle and does not involve engine modifications to increase the power output and does not invalidate your RSA insurance in anyway then you should be O.K. but I do stress ‘should’ you could always contact Motability with your thoughts they are very accommodating I have found, with modifications and personal number plates if thats your thing.
well I don’t want to post a long topic and I don’t want to tread on any toes so if a moderator feels this is not exceptable please feel free to edit or remove as you feel , this is my first post with you and I don’t want to do anything I shouldn’t.
if you have been thanks for reading this far.
