I once paid £22,000 on a personal debit card to buy a car at a dealer and £9,000 on a business card at the post office to pay a corporation tax bill. Think it’s discretionary.

I think most peoples experience of end of lease are quite positive. We’ve used Motability since the early nineties and have never had an issue when had I g back. The dealer will not scratched and scuffs but we’ve never missed out on the GCB.

Don’t forget the EV charging cost currently does not include any duty. The government are frantically looking at ways to recoup the fuel duty they’re losing from people switching to EV’s.

We’ve got an Octavia automatic petrol hybrid. It’s averaged 52.9 mpg over the last 848 miles and 40 hours of driving. It does get up to 50 mpg round town if you don’t thrash it.

I’d leave it in place and say in the listing “It’s a useful feature that can be easily removed if not required”. If it’s a deal breaker you could negotiate a small discount with the buyer to have it removed.

For example I ordered from RRG and they don’t differentiate between retail and Motability so they have a waiting list according to model and spec and when my name is next I get the next applicable car.
We also used RRG, it was Jan 2021 right in the middle of the pandemic, they managed to get us a stock car that someone ordered and cancelled, got it in a matter of weeks rather than months.

Mike, not sure I’d leave the battery pack in the shed, I may be mistaken and I’m happy to be corrected, but I’m not sure constant freezing temperatures in the winter are good for batteries. I keep ours under the stairs.

Shrinkflation, I’m partial to a pack of pickled onion Monster Munch crisps. Multipack of 6 are now only 20g each bag, there are literally about 6 or 7 in a bag. It won’t be long before each crisp is individually wrapped. In 2024 I’ll be going to the shop and asking for A Monster Munch!

It’s not just price increases, it’s also a lack of offers, Richmond sausages were always on offer, either 8 pack at £1.50 or 12 for £2, one pack size would always be on offer. Today the 8 pack are £2.25 and the 12 pack £2.80 (on a not very good offer).

I don’t have a particular recommendation, but searching the SUV category on Motability would be a good start, I’m sure others will respond with recommendations. As for the seatbelt, you can buy an extender if the one in the car isn’t long enough.

Cheers rox that’s very helpful. I thought the high temperatures we had in July and August May have speeded up the discharge rate. The scooter is stored in the conservatory, I’m glad I took the battery out and left it under the stairs, it would’ve cooked.

POPS, I like the Aldi Egg fried rice pouches. I buy a sainsburys inspired to cook Chinese curry mix, add chicken, mushrooms, peas and onions, I serve with egg fried rice pouches, prawn crackers and sweet chilli sauce. Proper nice Chinese Fakeaway.

That’s a serious looking rice cooker Struth! The one I use is a red plastic bowl.

As for the rice cooker, I got a microwave one of Amazon, it’s a large red bowl with double lid. Cooks rice to perfection in the microwave. Cost about £11.

Apparently there’s an new MG5 EV about to be launched, it’s an estate with a decent boot. Does anyone know if the old MG5 EV was on Motability, what was the AP?

Johnny on Late Brake Show put a review vid up recently, not watched it yet though. Suspect they’re going to shift quite a few though, let’s hope they appear on the scheme.Just watched that video on YouTube. Johnny really likes it, think we’ve got a challenger to the Kona at £6000 less.

Correction it’s just £28,495 for the 280 mile long range version.

Cost of energy crisis, UK worst hit in Western Europe.

Don’t know about the Karoq, but we ordered the Octavia Jan 2021, delivery time was 12-20 weeks, however the dealer found one on its way to the UK which the buyer had cancelled. We got it in six weeks. Everything has changed with the supply issues, but may be worth speaking to the dealer and see if they can find one, be flexible on colour and spec, we didn’t get the colour we wanted but we got the exact spec, with the bonus of a real spare wheel ?! Apparently, lots of fleet buyers spec them.

@Struth You should get £64 a month paid directly into your gas/electric account each month for 6 months from September, if you’re on PIP you should also get a £150 payment in September/October. I think there will definitely be more for those who need it. My partners employer has just announced they are giving them a monthly bonus based on a percentage of the energy price cap, to help them with energy bills, a few employers are doing this.

All fixed, the hinges were exactly the same inside. Cheers ?

Found a calculator on Money Saving Expert website. If you get you last gas and electric bill it will have an estimated usage, enter the details and it will calculate how much you will pay from October. It was very accurate with my current monthly bill, £180 a month. It estimates I’ll be paying £324 from October, but do remember we will be getting £64 a month off the bill from the government for 6 months so that should take it to £260, plus my energy saving changes which should reduce it further.
