Does anyone on the forum use an air fryer? I’ve heard they’re brilliant? There’s some online for £20 – £400. Also read they can save you money?? Before I consider buying one would like some more opinions on anyone who’s got/ used one. Thanks

Yep, had an Actifry for years, forever replacing parts, ( cheap plastic high temperatures). Then bought a Ninja 7 in 1 multi, it’s a slow cooker, air fryer, pressure cooker, sauté er, you can use it as an oven. Roasted a large chicken joint (Asda silver tray type) tonight with some roast potatoes. Love it, saves a fortune on energy costs.

Iceland are/were doing an Tower air frier for £35 to help with the cost of living (not using the oven)

Never owned one, but Know plenty with them including my MIL and in my oppinion they are crap. MIL use to do my daughter nuggets and chips in it and the batter/breadcrumb coating would come off and end up on the chips. I think heres was a Tefel acti fry or something like that.

In my opinion you are better getting a combination microwave or Ninja as @Joejoe says which sounds really interesting. My comi micro is a Sharp flatbed (no turntable) around £110 when I got mine and is cheaper than the oven to run. I also have a slowcooker that apart from stews I like to cook joints of meat in.

@Joejoe tell me more and how do you rate it 🙂

My carer swears by her Ninja. I fear it would just end up in the cupboard with the foot spa!

We bought a tower air fryer for the caravan, Tower T17076 11L Air Fryer 10 in 1, we were so impressed we bought a Tower T17039 11L Air Fryer 5 in 1 for home. The machines are the same but the 5 in 1 is cheaper but has less accessories. These machines have a digital touch screen for operation, but you can get ones with mechanical knobs.

Out of the 5 in 1 missing accessories the only one we use is the kebab wheel but we were able to buy one from Tower, on the Tower web site the kebab wheel was £19.99 plus if I remember correctly £5 postage, Tower are also on Ebay where the wheel was also £19.99 but free postage so be aware of that if you want to buy accessories.

It will do a chicken on the rotisserie, small up to 1.2 kg, in less than a hour and a joint of beef in about an hour, we use a food thermometer to check the meat is cooked.

Forgot to mention if anyone is buying one for a caravan the air fryer is 2 kW and will draw 8.3 Amps, you will likely only have a 16 Amp supply for the whole caravan, so if you use the air fryer and then turn on your 2 kW kettle you will be drawing 16.3 Amps and will trip the breaker. We take our kettle of its stand when using the fryer.

We have recently just bough a Ninja air fryer. Model is Ninja® Foodi® 4-in-1, 8-qt., 2-Basket Air Fryer with DualZone … It’s the Dogs nuts of air fryers and we are very pleased with our purchase. Food is lovely cooked in them. I can highly recommend this one.

I absolutely love our Ninja Multi, so versatile. You can cook a large whole chicken really quick by using the pressure cooker followed by the air fryer to brown it. I also do whole chicken and beef joints in the slow cooker, slice an onion and carrot and add 150ml of chicken stock and the chicken, 5 hours later you have the most succulent chicken you’ve ever eaten. This is ours.

Was looking on Ninja’s site last night at the air frier £199, along with the 15 in 1 whitch I can get for £229 from electrics shop. What to do is beyond me lol.

@Joejoe how long have you had yours?

@Kezo We’ve had it almost 2 years and use it most days. Just had a late breakfast and did the hash browns in it, 15 mins. My opinion, I’d go for the multi type as they do more. You can even do a curry in it, I use the sauté function to fry off the onion and beef, then put the curry sauce in and slow cook. They use a fraction of the electric or gas your main oven uses.

Just while talking Ninja, I also bought a set of kitchen knifes and block which has built in sharpeners. These are real good quality knifes and are as sharp hell.

RUMP STEAK will be cooked in my ninja tomorrow

Could you fit 3 sirloin steaks in either the multi or air frier and say chips at the same time, so thet cook together.

@kezo, you can’t do 3 steaks and chips in the multi. When you do chips you need to let the hot air circulate, so you need a bit of space between the chips.

Would 3 steaks fit in without the chips ?

How would you use it to cook steak and chips, so both are hot when served ?

                                    Thanks 🙂

@kezo You could put the chips in the large bowl and the steaks on the rack on top of the chips, any juice would drip into the chips though. You’d struggle with 3 depending on how big they are. There’s only 2 of us and it’s ideal size. In-laws have one and there’s 4 in their house, they love it as well.

Chips from raw potatoes about 20 mins @180c. I don’t know about the steak as I always coat mine in oil, salt n pepper and fry on a very hot dry frying pan, but I would think around 15 mins for steak.  My energy monitor suggests it uses between 4p and 7p an hour to use it. My oven @180c costs between 55p and 75p an hour.

wouldnt be without it and along with my induction hob and a sage microwave/oven, its all i use.. i did away with my cooker. saves me money too.
