Not sure if its true but with the corruption that’s in the Government I would not be surprised

I’m an EV driver ( and total convert) and I was interested in your post @batfastard ( great name). I suppose for us EV users plugging in on longer journeys reminds us of the blimmin’ hassle of petrol station visits that we’ve all but forgotten about with 99% home charging. I get 7p per kWh overnight rate by the way on octopus and a recent trip to Glastonbury involving a hotel stay I charged overnight on a 20 kw charger for £15 ( main car park behind the George and Pilgrims)

sorry about 350 miles for £20.39

That’s a more encouraging figure to me.

I believe Batfastard was merely pointing out, he could do 900 miles in their diesel for £90. Stopping or doing the journey straight was never mentioned. However, on a long jouney ICE especially diesel will ultimately be cheaper on costs. The difference with EV’s and to a similar extent PHEV’s, the extra costs are easily offset with local journeys.

Thank you Kezo. Someone who understands what I was simply saying. However, as I seemed to have stirred up a few emotions with some people in this thread, I will leave quietly…

Not wanting to burst any bubbles but I recon I could do 900 miles for around £90 in the wife’s Skoda Karoq Diesel.

Why? What has this to do with this thread? Most folk who drive EV’s will have driven petrol and/or diesel cars and know all too well about their economy. It’s not a competition.

Not intending to start any competitions. Simply making the point that 900 miles in a diesel, for around £90, without having to stop is not unheard off. Now if you said we done 900 miles and it cost about £30 in electric, you would have converted me instantly.

i am one of those @MFillingham, if i had 8k available i would leave mota and get a decent 2nd hand car.

I’m with Mitch and did exactly that. Run it for couple of years and even with servicing I will still get over half of what I paid for it back.

And not a single car to get me excited. I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but why does electric need to be do boxy and ugly.

I watched a couple of videos and they both put washing up liquid on the seal to make it slide on easier. Think I’ll give it a go, the seal is £17. Most of the white goods repair services near me charge £80 including parts.

                            Good luck

I would just be concerned when the electric ran out and you are under petrol power only. I had the Tiguan All space 150. Lovely motor that just lacked a wee bit in power. 190 is nice in a car of this size. Currently running about in an SD4 Freelander. You do notice the 184bhp, especially when overtaking

Would have been tempting had it been the 190 diesel. Too big a car for small petrol engine.

interesting comments and in the bigger picture outside of the scheme, all that extra dead weight consisting of highly polluting mining and transport of cobalt, lithium, copper etc plus neodymium for the motor, inverters etc is hardly eco friendly. BIK bribery to achieve what, exactly?

Scaremongering and people are falling for it

Must admit, i liked my Tiguan. Only ever two faults. Over sensitive parking sensors and 150bhp never seemed enough for a big car with 4wd.

She has no symptoms at school but does at home so we have had to fight to get her seen. We are one year in to a 2 year waiting list. The dealer never returned my call from this morning so it looks like I’ll have to travel up on Monday and create a fuss about the lack of service!!

With the increase in AP prices for the cars I’d consider I must say that buying a second hand approved bmw x4 or similar has now come onto my radar. The large APs don’t justify Motability for me at the moment and show no signs of falling

Agreed. That and the EV push has me currently running around in a Freelander 2 at the minute.

Depends where you charge it. My car is averaging about 3.3 miles per kWh (kilo Watt Hour) of electricity So, 300 miles divided by 3.3 would give me the amount of electricy in kWh, 300/3.3 = 91kWh Charging at home I pay 7p per kWh so 91 x 7p =£6.37 Charging at a charger awy from home it would cost anywhere from 30p to 90p per kWh A typical Tesla or Ionity charge off peak would cost about 41p per kWh, so 91 x 41p =£37.31 If a full BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle) suits you needs and you can charge at home it’s a no-brainer as far as economy is concerned. My previous petrol Ateca did 36mpg, that was costing me £80 to £120 a month, the Enyaq I have is costing me £12 to £14 a month.
