Exclusive first look and detailed review of the all-new Volkswagen Tayron, VW’s latest 7-seat SUV designed to replace the Tiguan Allspace. In this video, I’ll explore everything this exciting new model has to offer, from spacious seating for seven passengers to its impressive plug-in hybrid version that boasts over 75 miles of electric range! The Tayron goes head-to-head with its rivals, including the popular Kia Sorento, recently over-hauled Hyundai Santa Fe and the award-winning Skoda Kodiaq, but how will it stands up in the competitive large SUV market?

Like the new Tiguan, there seems to be oodles of piano black, especialy across the dash, therfore the Kodiaq is the one to beat in the VW group

I love that purple colour. Not sure about the car though. Our last VW (Tiguan) wasn’t a great experience and having looked at the new Tiguan build quality seems to have dipped.

Looks just like a longer wheelbase Tiguan.

Must admit, i liked my Tiguan. Only ever two faults. Over sensitive parking sensors and 150bhp never seemed enough for a big car with 4wd.

Must admit, I was sceptical of choosing a Mexican built Allspace, but has been 100% reliable over 3 years and 9 months. One service including replacing a corroding rear disc ( sea air does not help) and two new tyres.

38-40 mpg excellent for a petrol ICE 7 seat SUV. Will be interesting to see equipment levels of the Tayron Elegance and hopefully better than sister model, Kodiaq, which at least has better climate controls and less piano black. Too many expensive packs and options that were all included on my SEL.

Gone for the smaller, but very practical, bus – the Touran Match. No options required, but already gone for Q4.

                  That’s because it is!

The Tayron strongly resembles a three year old China-only SUV called Talagon, which also uses the same platform.

I know the Tiguan Allspace was available but are we expecting the Tayron to be coming to Motability this year?

I should imagine that it will join the scheme, especially as the car market is in turmoil at present, but probably not until 3-6 months after launch, as they will want to see what retail demand is like first. Sadly, the Tayron has the same interior as the new Tiguan, which both my wife and I disliked. Also, you’re lugging around more weight with the same engine (we’d never use the 6th & 7th seat) so whilst the EV range on the PHEV is very good, I should imagine that it will be thirsty when the battery is depleted.

Touran and Tayron which are not related. The naming department been have been on holiday that week. I’ve had both the Touran and the predecessor of the Teyron, the Tiguan All-space and much preferred the former although it isn’t a good option nowadays.  the AP has more than doubled  but the spec barely changed at all. The All-space needed the extra boot space to carry the oil it guzzled. It had a new gearbox to try to fix oil consumption but it didn’t help. The Satnav would have been fine if you could have put it in the car 50 yards ahead and asked them to relay instruction back but we had to make do with going 3 times around every roundabout.

Will hopefully be ordering the Tayron this time next year.

                              That’s not a Tayron mate.

4 cm longer, 1 cm wider and not quite as tall as the Tiguan All Space.
