I struggle with the logic of paying £12k plus AP to lease a brand new car that you’ll never own, let alone a used one!

It was only 18 months ago that we had the daily turmoil of incompetence and sleaze during 14 years of Tory government headed by worst run of Prime Ministers in recent memory (May, Johnson, Truss, Sunak). Let’s not forget dishonourable mentions to Kwarteng, Rees-Mogg, Zahawi, Dorries, Hancock, Williamson, Gove, Mercer etc – the list is almost endless! Let’s also not forget the Covid mismanagement, eat out to help out (increasing the pandemic), party-gate, Tory fast-track lane, the Truss/Kwarteng budget, inflation, highest tax burden since WW2, stagnant growth, decline in public services, longest NHS wait times and to top it all Brexit.😡
We just had a local election and thankfully we voted the Lib-Dem back in. I like Ed Davey, but fear there are not enough of us in the centre to make a real difference in a first past the post system.
I’m no Labour voter, but look at what they inherited when Sunak gave up and called the election. The country needs to get behind the government, as they’re in for 5 years and there’s a lot to fix.
Oh to get back on theme – this budget will increase duty on alcohol, tobacco and fossil fuel and do nothing to stop the soaring price of energy…🤦🏻♂️😡

The rabid far right have made Motability a clarion call to arms. The disciples of Fartage will always believe his propaganda. We can’t even rely on the media to question its veracity, as most of the media is right-wing controlled (now includes the BBC).🤦🏻♂️
The Tories left a complete mess for Labour to fix. No-one could fathom why Sunak called the election when he did, but they could no longer be trusted by the electorate or investors.
Labour are in a no win position, as they have raise money for the exchequer, as the Tories run down public services / Defence / NHS etc over the past 14 years, and now they need investment.
If you think things are bad now under Labour, then just wait until Fartage gets elected. Zero experience, zero competence, Pro- Putin, Pro-Trump and anti-EU. Worrying times.😱
Anyway, rant over and back to Motability. I was going to rejoin in early 2026 (when I retire). However, if all I am left with is Nissan, Toyota, Vauxhall, MG etc then I won’t rejoin and make my own arrangements…

2017 - VW Golf TDi SE Match.I had the previous version of the 330e, very poor full electric range (10 miles). I understand that has improved to circa 30 miles. This hybrid model is for the company car drivers, as it’s much better for benefit in kind tax, though no where near as good as a full EV.
Not worth an £8k AP!
Save your money and go full EV to a BMW i4 instead.??

2017 - VW Golf TDi SE Match.I’ve always had hardwired front and rear Nextbase dashcams, both to my company & Motability cars. Never had an issue with Motability after handing the car back or at car change overs. Currently use the Nextbase 622GW – really good resolution, just make sure you get a decent sized micro SD card (minimum 128 GB) otherwise you will continuously overwrite your recordings. This is a card I recommend, have used SandDisk media for years with digital cameras:

That is great to hear, so maybe we are debating a scenario that Motability will resolve by default, and pass on the discount! ??

As advised by @kezo and others, please do contact Motability and make them aware. They are very supportive and will be able to offer you options.
In our case we terminated a lease 2 years early, and ordered a larger car, with minimal additional cost, as the penalty cost was offset by the good condition bonus (which is applied by pro-rata).

Absolutely, However, we are talking about a reduction in AP and this reduction has been applied to existing orders by some dealers, but not all dealers. Either the Motability contract is fixed, or it isn’t and the fact some dealers are passing on the reduction proves the contract is not fixed…

If a dealer wants to reduce that price, they can, if they want to increase the price (in certain circumstances, change of model etc) they can, but not if the contract doesn’t change. https://www.motability.co.uk/how-it-works/payments/
Why should any Motability customer pay £400 more for the same car? This is just profiteering, all dealers should offer this refund as part of their standard Motability service ( as confirmed by other posts in this thread).
Vote with your feet (if you’re happy to wait longer for the same car) and save £400.??

2017 - VW Golf TDi SE Match.Don’t try reporting them to Motability because the practice of getting the lower AP is against Motability rules, so it may cause you more hassle than you bargained for.A dealer wanting more money for the same car is also against the Motability rules. Dealers have to follow a code of conduct with Motability. If one dealer allows a change of order (at a reduced cost), then so should all dealers.Kind regards

Absolutely, cancel the order, go to another dealer and order with them, you will get your car for £400 less – obvious. I would also report the ‘offending’ dealer to Motability too.??
