How long have you been waiting?

Hi everyone, I was wondering what your wait times are for your car orders. I ordered a Ford Kuga St Line X Auto Diesel on Sept 21 and haven’t received a build date yet. Was told by dealer it’d be March/April 22 which I’m hopeful it will not be any longer than that. Very hesitant to cancel the order due to current wait times and the fact that Ford has discontinued the Diesel engine (which was the only Kuga available for under 25s at Q4).

I ordered a Citroën c5x in November and was told build week in Dec, delivery any time between end Feb to end of Apr – apparently they’re assembled in China.

Checked in with dealer today and missed December week so now Mar 10th with delivery expected end May – beginning Jun

We finally had an update on our GTE order – ordered November 2021, it’s now finally built and on its way to the UK. Haven’t gotten a date for delivery yet (we’ll get it once the car arrives in Grimsby), but there’s finally a light at the end of the tunnel.

Your quote from December about my VW Tiguan delivery is panning out to be correct, quote ”

Fingers crossed – heavily depends on the port, most likely. It could sit up to 3-4 weeks (or more over the holidays) in Grimsby, not sure about Tyne or Sheerness.

Good to see that at least some VWs make it to the customers.. i’ll get there, eventually.” unquote.

As of last Monday week still not at the dealership but expected by the end of this month, where have I heard that before.

Still good news for you to have as like others have had there orders cancelled without notification but looks like we can rest a little bit on that front, I hope. I think mine will come in via Sheerness and would hope its already in the country or at least on the car carrier that docked today.

The month isn’t that long anymore, so fingers crossed. Ours is probably around 4-6 weeks out, would be my conservative guess – but as i said, there’s finally an end in sight after around 15ish months of waiting. That’s all that matters. Just ordered a cable protector for our walk way today as well as a cable storage bag – excited. 😀

Call your dealership – they can tell you by status whether or not the car landed. Just ask him to tell you the status in full. Not sure where you ordered, but Sinclair in Port Talbot always accommodates us when we call for status updates (and especially in the beginning, there were many lol).

Here’s the relevant status codes for you:

30 = In transit from factory
36 = Vehicle in port of exit – not released (likely Emden)
38 = Vehicle in port of exit – released to shipping (likely Emden)
                                          39 = Vehicle on ship
40 = Vehicle arrival at UK port (Grimsby, Tyne or Sheerness).

Is there a way to know which port my car is at,as I’ve asked dealer and peugeot and they said it’s at port waiting but don’t know which one and have issues with logistics, this car has been there a while as it was an unnasigned one but my dealers assured me its mine?

Likely Sheerness, but i’m not 100% sure. I know that a friends 208 landed there, that’s all i know.

No worries – it’s hard to tell. There’s cars that make it through within a week, and there’s others that take 3-4 weeks to get through customs/inspection etc. Very hit and miss – and that’s not including potential problems like your car appears to be having.

From the little you told us (or been told), my best guess is that the car is already through customs, but they don’t have a truck to get it – would be the only logistics thing that springs to mind at least. Usually, once it’s released at the port, it takes a few days to arrive at the dealership – delivery should be anywhere between 7-10 days after it’s been picked up by the truck.

I’ll note that this info relates to VW, i’d assume it’s similar for Peugeot but i don’t know that for a fact.

Either way, fingers crossed. If it’s in the UK already, it won’t be that long anymore.

It’s normal practice, Motability isn’t special – they’re a fleet operator like any other, like car rental companies for example. To MG, Motability is the same as SIXT. And yes, private buyers get priority over SIXT etc.
