I’m sure all of you who have one on order, have been eagerly waiting (as of I) for Q1 24 to see what will be updated… and now the msport is available! (With 3 different packs too).
now the question on my head. If we want to switch to the msport model with the dealer, will they have to raise a whole new order with the factory, or will they be able to trim msport with the original factory slot?

@Mm7 I hope this helps. I’ve looked back through my BMW genius transcripts and these are all the important dates-
24/07/23 – Placed order with dealership
03/08/23 – Car ordered by dealership- Status 047 – order without available DLR quota
28/09/23 – Status 111 – Capacity checked, estimated to begin production week starting 22/01/24
15/12/23 – Status 112 – Factory received order, build week 4 – 28/01/24 expected delivery week 8 – 19/01/24
11/01/24 – Status 150 – Order scheduled for body shop – Called dealership for VIN number
23/01/24 – Status 151 – Entered body shop
25/01/24 – Status 155 – Assembly finished/Quality check
25/01/24 – Same day! – Status 190 – Dispatched from AG – Delivery week 8 – February 18/24
29/01/24 – Status 193 – Arrival at Port or compound – Estimated delivery week commencing 12/02/24
14/02/24 – Car delivered to dealership
01/03/24 – Collect car – The dealership were very busy and said the car would be ready for collection on Monday 26th February so I said I’d wait until Friday and have it on a 24 plate as 24 is my lucky number.
It would be great if everyone who’s collected their car could let us all know how they’re getting on. How’s the car, is it comfortable? What’s the real range like? ect, ect
Any news and reviews would be much appreciated and very helpful. Thanks in advance
February 21, 2024 at 9:42 am #258974Sorry @Mm7, to answer your question it was 22 days from the car entering the body shop to arriving at the dealership
February 21, 2024 at 9:48 am #258976To be honest the process of ordering a car though motability is so easy now compared to 20 years ago
it’s all online can’t understand the problem with the dealer
February 21, 2024 at 12:50 pm #258994Mine is now on status 193 which means it’s arrived in the UK. The dealer is saying as soon as it arrives they will arrange collection. I requested that I collect in March so that it’s a ’24’ plate. But they insist they can’t store it for insurance purposes. This is very strange as I’ve had other dealers store cars in the past for 2 weeks. This is just a matter of days. It would be a shame to receive a ’73’ plate for the sake of a few days. I’ve really had a rough time with this particular dealer as I’ve had no communication and when they took my order they promised a build slot for November delivery. They also couldn’t change my order to a M-Sport.
February 21, 2024 at 1:01 pm #259000@Edd that’s rubbish, what if you were going on holiday for a week or you were in hospital. Mention to them the fact that they told you the car would be delivered in November, so as it’s 3 months late it’s the least they can do. I know some people will say the reg makes no difference to you as you don’t own the car, but if it’s what you want then push for it. I’d be annoyed if they register the car on the 27th February on a 73 plate and you had to wait until after the 1st to collect.

Yes it does sound as though you have a poor dealer (or salesperson). Our current BMW arrived at the dealer at the back end of July and they offered to keep it until September if we wanted the 71 reg. I was so desperate to get rid of the Tiguan we had at the time I said I’d take it on the first day they could let me have it – so a 21 reg it was ?

Ordered it in August. Very poor communication regarding any enquiry.
February 21, 2024 at 2:11 pm #259014Our dealer is on holiday so it plays well for new reg plate number
doesn’t sound like a helpful dealer
February 21, 2024 at 4:43 pm #259041Our car has arrived today at the dealership.
I’ve been asking for March delivery on a 24 plate for a few weeks now.
Initially I was told that BMW operates a 10 day rule which means we would have been fine for an early March collection.
Not so any more apparently. Motability have a 4 day rule which says *checks notes* a car must be registered within 4 days of arriving at the dealership. (Snigger)
They are determined that the car has to be a 73 and go out in February. I even offered to pay the AP on February 29th and collect on March 1st on a 24.
Not possible.
Now I know I’m being told BS, but frankly I’ve pushed as far as I can, and it will be nice to have the car next week after a 7 month wait!

Quite so, but I might just check with Motability tomorrow.
The only mention of a 4 day rule I can see is there should be a minimum of 4 days between arrival at the dealership and delivery to customers to allow time for paperwork and prep to be done!

2017 - Audi Q3 TFSi Sport S-TronicFebruary 21, 2024 at 6:23 pm #259049I would play them at their own game and simply say “if your not willing to hold onto it for a few more days, then I’d seriously consider cancelling and looking elsewhere, if quota means more to you than the customer”
Given the M Sport 40 is the most popular among retail buyers, they may just have a change of heart, especially if discussed with the sales manager or dealer CEO!
Edit: @72 dudes when speaking with Motability do it via chat, so you have a copy in B&W to ram in the dealers face!

February 21, 2024 at 6:36 pm #259050dealer wants it in their febuary quota obviously..
Current Car: Hyundai Kona Premium EV...2 way 40kg hoist
Last Car: Toyota C-HR Excel Hybrid...4 way 80kg hoistFebruary 21, 2024 at 7:07 pm #259057@kezo ? probably a bit extreme.
It was the Sales Manager who eventually insisted it had to be a February car, our sales guy the Motability specialist sounded as if he was batting for us.
Motability chat have backed up the dealer’s view
“Expect you to collect the car at your earliest convenience”
“We would not delay delivery just for a new 24 plate ”
“Insurance will transfer over on the day the dealer says the car is ready”
“Delayed collection can only be agreed for exceptional circumstances ”
I pointed out that our last two Motability cars arrived in February but had a March plate, but she didn’t respond to this.
So we have a collection date of Monday 26th and are looking forward to it.
We had a choice of 12 x 73 number plates to choose from, just to add salt to the wound!

If thats a tad extreme, tell the dealer you wifie has booked a romantic getaway or there is an unavoidable emergency – Meaning you will collect at your earliest convenience
“Insurance will transfer over on the day the dealer says the car is ready” “Delayed collection can only be agreed for exceptional circumstances ”
Lets think about this for a minute – How can the insurance be transfered untill you have entered your PIN! That means the dealer could accidently transfer insurance over before collection, leaving you driving your current vehicle with no insurance?
Sorry I don’t buy what the dealer or Motability have said nor have I ever come across this problem. I speak with someone else at Mota, as they all tell you different things.
February 21, 2024 at 8:41 pm #259072Would not be bothered what plate I got, a new car is a new car at this point would be made up if mine turned up this week rather than end of March.
February 22, 2024 at 9:11 am #259092Exciting that so many deliveries are taking place in the next few days! I would hugely appreciate it if everyone could take their time to write an initial impressions and any extra things they’ve noticed about the specs etc 🙂
February 23, 2024 at 12:15 am #259177@Matt thank you for the time line thats really useful!
I have just checked on my Motability account and finally the model has been changed with AP showing as £5749 (£6499 m sport tech pack minus £750) however i asked for sun protection glass at cost £350 which is on the order form too but this amount hasn’t been added to the outstanding amount to be paid. Does anyone know if this is normal or should it be showing in my account to be paid with the outstanding balance.
February 23, 2024 at 12:34 am #259179@Mm7, the amount on your Motability account doesn’t show additional paid options, so it’s correct.
Good to see the time line was useful.
I went ro see my car today to check out the seats as I was told on my test drive that they would be the same as the ones in the car I test drove and have a seat base that you could change the angle off, bit unfortunately you can’t! I still found them to be OK for me after half an hour in the car.
February 23, 2024 at 1:04 am #259184Some pictures of my car at the dealership, sorry they’re not the best but I was having a bed day with my leg. Ill post some better picks next Friday

I also don’t see why some dealers are being hard on collection dates, mine is due next week and I’ve requested 22nd March and there is no issue with it.
