@kezo – and that’s in addition to the enforced four week shutdown they had over summer at the Emden factory!
I guess the question is, are other EV manufacturers seeing this downturn or has the poor reviews of the ID models started to bite?
“You can please some of the people all of the time, you can please all of the people some of the time, but you can’t please all of the people all of the time”
@Just2Fish – I honestly don’t know who could criticise it – the reviews are great and Jeep seem to have found the best way of using the Stellantis STLA platform.
Yes, they’ll be some ‘enthusiasts’ that don’t like it if only because it doesn’t have an ICE but what does their view count for.
We’d have one on order if we didn’t have such a tall passenger in the shape of our 6ft 7in son!
And, your colour choice, spot on.
Enjoy it.
“You can please some of the people all of the time, you can please all of the people some of the time, but you can’t please all of the people all of the time”
The annoying thing for me is how you have to add an expensive pack to get the Enyaq to the spec I want.
I agree and it’s the only thing that is holding us back from putting in an order now…we’re going to hold tight for a few weeks to see if the new price list provides any opportunities with other cars we’ve looked at.
“You can please some of the people all of the time, you can please all of the people some of the time, but you can’t please all of the people all of the time”
@Roger Wikco – thanks – yes, I do quite a bit over the average due to where we live – there’s a car journey to get anywhere!
Regarding the Enyaq options packages you mention – the prices I’m seeing are much more – where did you see these please so I can make sure I’m looking at the most up to date information?
Thanks again.
“You can please some of the people all of the time, you can please all of the people some of the time, but you can’t please all of the people all of the time”
@kezo – thanks – and I whole-heartedly agree about the EV6 interior…to be honest, one would have been on order if the AP was more akin to what the Enyaq’s is now…so maybe be we’ll sit and wait until October arrives!
Thanks for your great input and advice on these forums…I’ve just said to Mark that you and him(and a couple of others) are standout contributors and I feel so much more confident in the scheme with your support and advice.
“You can please some of the people all of the time, you can please all of the people some of the time, but you can’t please all of the people all of the time”
@MFillingham – thanks Mark – I appreciate you providing your view on this as I’ve noticed that you and kezo(and a few others) are top contributors so it’s good to get the views of someone who clearly knows the scheme well.
It’s also good to know for newbies like us who are taking our first steps into the Motability scheme and our expectations are all over the place – my wife says that I’m like a 3 year old on Christmas Eve – so I know I need to calm down a bit! :0)
So the Sportline Plus currently on the scheme looks like a good deal that we will probably grab whilst it’s there as the only other contender for what we need is the Kia EV6 – and that’s nearly £8k in AP!
Thanks for straightening me out Mark – I think I saw on other posts that you’ve not been well so get well soon mate and thanks for your input on the forum.
“You can please some of the people all of the time, you can please all of the people some of the time, but you can’t please all of the people all of the time”
@Roger Wikco – thanks – yes, as I said in my post, the Enyaq 80x Sportline Plus if firmly on our short list BUT we are doing our due diligence and checking out what life will be like with an EV that doesn’t have a heat pump in the depth of winter!
As always, the devil is in the detail and we want to make sure we get value for money and the sort of range that we can live with across the whole of the year.
“You can please some of the people all of the time, you can please all of the people some of the time, but you can’t please all of the people all of the time”
Great news that the Enyaq Sportline Plus is now on the scheme but…greedy me now wonders if Skoda will put the L&K model on the scheme? And if so, when?
“You can please some of the people all of the time, you can please all of the people some of the time, but you can’t please all of the people all of the time”
@Phaedra – the Enyaq is now firmly on our short list with the Sportline Plus coming onto the scheme BUT, remember that the Enyaq doesn’t have a heat pump so that’s something that I would urge everyone to consider as it does make a big difference in the winter AND we understand from our Skoda dealer that getting a heat pump on an Enyaq is no longer an option!
Just doing our due diligence to make sure the car we live with for 3+ years is fit for purpose.
“You can please some of the people all of the time, you can please all of the people some of the time, but you can’t please all of the people all of the time”
The Sportline Plus is also showing which is great news for us as you get everything that we were looking for…this has really changed the game now for someone looking for a AWD Electric SUV as before there was just the EV6 which is a great car but at nearly £8k AP, well!
“You can please some of the people all of the time, you can please all of the people some of the time, but you can’t please all of the people all of the time”
I think this might be a sign that the new Enyaq is on the horizon(see link below) but, regardless, this might have entered our shortlist if it offers 4WD as it drastically undercuts the AP on a Kia EV6.

September 1, 2023 at 7:05 pm in reply to: MG4 XPOWER & Extended Range (2023): Specs and Price Revealed #231993@Gary – thanks for this update Gary. This matters a great deal as otherwise the scheme will be littered with poorly equipped cars that are not fit for purpose and the manufacturers just want to clear.
Fingers crossed that the X-Power comes to the scheme soon as I’ve heard great things from lots of reviews in terms of drive and comfort and it would definitely be on our short list(I’m having a test drive in one on Wednesday which should crystalise these views!).
“You can please some of the people all of the time, you can please all of the people some of the time, but you can’t please all of the people all of the time”
@Roger Wikco – a good point Roger but I hope you are wrong! :o)
I’m concerned what you say about the Ariya as I have a 6ft 6inch son so we need to pay particular attention to that when we test drive.
I like the Enyaq but the cost would be astronomical in add-ons to get an ‘on par’ level of equipment as you’d get in an Ariya or an EV6 and that what puts us off.
I’ve had the Mustang on a 48 hour test drive – lovely car in dual motor, AWD guise but, like you say, ride was surprisingly problematic to some of the passengers – my nephew said he felt like he’d ‘been on a rough jorney on the ferry from the Isle of Wight’! Price also is crazy in my opinion and it feels like Ford are being left behind a bit in this new EV world – let’s hope they catch up quickly with the Explorer and other models in the pipeline.
But it’s very much horses for courses as they say so good luck with whatever you choose.
“You can please some of the people all of the time, you can please all of the people some of the time, but you can’t please all of the people all of the time”
@Richardw – that’s good to know Richard and I hope that supply over demand results in lower AP’s. We would love to press go on the Kia EV6 AWD but the AP is one of highest(if not the highest) on the scheme.
“You can please some of the people all of the time, you can please all of the people some of the time, but you can’t please all of the people all of the time”
@kezo – that’s great advice as always kezo, thanks.
I’ll rebrand that statement to optimism then as that is probably far more realistic and besides will make my wife happy who thinks I’m like a little boy on Christmas Eve at the moment. Let’s hope I don’t just end up with a tangerine and socks again(also I realise that these are quite useful gifts as I’ve got older)!
The Ariya is definitely on our list and we have a test drive arranged for Saturday. I’ve heard great things about it although we’d prefer a AWD which that doesn’t offer at the moment so it will be good to contrast the test drive we had in the horrendously high AP’d EV6(although we did love it and it did everything that we needed).
Thanks as always for your great advice – you do seem to be one of the ‘Encyclopedia Britannicas’ around here so thanks for all of the advice and time you give.
“You can please some of the people all of the time, you can please all of the people some of the time, but you can’t please all of the people all of the time”
@tvs – that looks like a great choice and I know the i4 has received a lot of attention since coming onto the scheme so I bet you can’t wait until April.
Thanks for the advice – I’ve already lined Octopus up for electricity supply as my current supply aren’t as forward thinking as Octopus are(so we would have changed anyway despite getting an EV). I also have seen a contributor on this forum who also uses the low tariff to top-up his solar panel battery to get really low electricity prices across the whole day which I thought was ingenious.
Thanks again for your great advice and we’ll take the rest of this week and the weekend to sift down the options and we’ll just go for it.
“You can please some of the people all of the time, you can please all of the people some of the time, but you can’t please all of the people all of the time”
@tvs – thanks for the advice – what did you go for?
And, yes, already taking the test drives and have my ‘long list’ which, based on test drives, is quickly becoming a ‘short-er list’!

Never be on the scheme, as the insurance will be sky high
You say that but a lot of standard dual motor EV’s are coming out with this type of performance and the scheme is going to be very short on choice of EV’s if this trend continues and they base decisions on insurance alone because the cost of these vehicles are beginning to reduce. For example the new Volvo EX-30 is highly likely to come onto the scheme based on the information I’ve seen and the twin motor version of even the basic specification does 0-60 in 3.5 seconds!
But, for me, an EV is far more than just acceleration so my advice to anyone thinking about purchasing an EV – or any car for that matter – is to think about the whole-round package.

August 25, 2023 at 7:33 pm in reply to: Ariya possible Q4 AP reduction to reflect discount seen by some dealers! #231155The electric viling (sam) is open on his bias as being a Tesla and Nio investor and lives half way around the world lol. Was it you who travelled to Bassetts Nissan Swansea, if so did they show you the e-40rce Evolve?
No, not me JoJoe but I do like the Ariya and the only reason I’ve not taken the offer is that the e-4orce isn’t on the scheme yet(crossing fingers hoping it will!) as we really need a 4WD (autumn slippy roads, winter slippy roads, spring slippy roads and this year…summer slippy roads!).
Kezo, go for it – even as a ‘petrolhead’, I have decided to go all in on electric.

August 25, 2023 at 5:43 pm in reply to: Ariya possible Q4 AP reduction to reflect discount seen by some dealers! #231130They’ve struggled to sell them in the numbers they anticipated. There’s a YouTube video by The Electric Viking where he says the real world range is very poor, he believes this is why they have poor sales.
Actually, the reviews I’ve seen from both car experts and owners seem to contest this view that the ‘real world range is poor’. For instance there is a very popular video on YouTube from Carwow which tests the leading EV SUV’s including the Ariya and it came 2nd which I didn’t think was too shabby considering the competition!

This is a great deal and the only thing holding us back is the scheme doesn’t currently have the E-4orce AWD option…I noticed that a few more trim editions have gone onto the scheme today so my fingers are very tightly crossed in the hope that the AWD option will come onto the scheme very very soon.

August 23, 2023 at 9:05 pm in reply to: 4WD SUV EV’s on the scheme – what’s the likelihood?… #230929@MickC – thanks but after researching running costs etc., we want a pure EV. Nice car though – but I thought the AP was a bit hefty for a hybrid! Thanks again though.

Yes, I noticed that one version of the is AWD – like you say the AP is rather hefty but the reviews are promising(with even more improvements for the 2024 version). Thanks again.

August 23, 2023 at 1:42 pm in reply to: 4WD SUV EV’s on the scheme – what’s the likelihood?… #230837Thanks @kezo – unfortunately the Mazda – whilst lovely – is too much of a half way house for us and we are looking to go ‘all-in electric’ for all of the benefits(whilst trying to totally ignore the drawbacks!).
Thanks though.
