4WD SUV EV’s on the scheme – what’s the likelihood?…

      Hello all,

I’m keen to get my first car on the scheme but really need a 4WD SUV due to the rural location that we live in…I’d also like to go electric too due to the environmental issues and as I’m truly hoping the infrastructure will massively improve in this country across the 3 years of owning our first car on the scheme!

We liked the look of the Nissan Ariya but I don’t think a 4WD one is on the scheme currently and I’ve also seen some great reviews on the Fisker Ocean but that’s not even on the scheme currently.

Of course I don’t know if either of these things will change and I’m not sure if there are any experts out there on this forum who will know(it would be great if there is!)…however is anyone aware of any 4WD SUV-sized EV’s currently on the scheme I would be really grateful if you could let me know as I’m struggling!

Thanks for all of your help.

        Hi SuperJon

The Kia EV6 is classed as a small SUV, it is available on the scheme in an all wheel drive version, but the ap is pretty hefty at £7,999

        Hope that helps.

Highly unlikely the Fisker Ocean will ever come to he scheme.

Thanks Debs – that is something to consider as I wasn’t aware of the 4WD options but, like you say, the AP seems steep and I wonder if that might come down over the next few months(says me being hopeful!).

That’s a real shame kezo – why do you think this is? Like SUV’s generally, the Fisker Ocean seems to be an ideal car for someone who needs the slightly higher access due to mobility issues, the range is good, the price is reasonable as well in comparison to others and the reviews seem great.

That’s the misconception we all sign up to! Make sure the infrastructure is fit for your purpose now (including maybe home charging). This is experience talking 😉

I’ve found the infrastructure has massively improved in the past 12 months alone let alone 2 years ago when we went electric.

I won’t go back but having said that there’s nothing really doable EV wise on the scheme right now I’m not paying these crazy APs so guess might go back to an old banger instead these multi thousand APs are just not cost effective

Thanks Richard and that is great to know from someone who has lived through the changes. I agree though that the limited choice at the moment on the scheme is an issue, as is the rather hefty AP’s!

Thanks @kezo – unfortunately the Mazda – whilst lovely – is too much of a half way house for us and we are looking to go ‘all-in electric’ for all of the benefits(whilst trying to totally ignore the drawbacks!).

                        Thanks though.

Thanks @MickC but I can’t see the BMW X2 anywhere of the scheme!

                            Thanks Debs,

Yes, I noticed that one version of the is AWD – like you say the AP is rather hefty but the reviews are promising(with even more improvements for the 2024 version). Thanks again.

@MickC – thanks but after researching running costs etc., we want a pure EV. Nice car though – but I thought the AP was a bit hefty for a  hybrid! Thanks again though.

Are there any EV’s on the scheme that come with AWD other than the EV6?
