I don’t understand why you had to pay a deposit? I have never paid any deposit for any car in the 25 years on Mota.
When you receive the car, you put in your pin along with paying the AP.
Has anyone else had to pay a deposit when ordering?
Cheers

I am delighted I ordered the new Grandland when I did, its shot up by £900.00, happy days.
I am also glad to see the Sportage is back on, nice looking car but I would be honest folks, BE VERY QUIICK if you are going to order it as tomorrow it may be gone!

If you book it in well in advance and they have an auto available, yes they do. However, they should come and collect your car and drop it back to you for free. Alternatively, if you are in no hurry and it is a quick repair, you could wait for it?
I have only once in the 20 plus years using motability that I have had to take it to the dealer and wait for it.

@Kilted Scot.
Sorry to hear that. No I have not heard anything, he will be contacting me in around 4 weeks to advise.
He did say, not heard differently, that it should be here August – November this year, which I am fine with. Again, he has not advised me it will be 12 months and I have had confirmation that it was oreder around 2 weeks ago.
If you check on the My Account, sign in then New Car Application bit of Motability website, you can see if the vehicle has been ordered. I would wait until tomorrow and call the dealer, ask for the Mota specialist, then just ask him if the car was ordered. However, it can take 24-48 hours for Mota to approve the new car application, however, mines took around 15 minutes by the time they completed the Mota application until I received an email to confirm it was ordered through the dealer.
I hope that help you out mate.
Cheers

I ordered my Vauxhall Grandland last week and I was quoted anything from August – November this year for delivery, which I am fine with. So expect a 6-9 months wait.
Depending on the car, Vauxhall dealers are expecting demo models in this week or next.
Unfortunately, the whole process is a waiting game I am afraid.

Thanks Graeme.
Car now ordered 1.2 Turbo Ultimate with no additional cost for the paint choice (Ruby Red) was £700.00.
Dealer advised 6-9 months which I am fine with but he will call me in 6 weeks to give a progress report.
Great service Vauxhall @ Macklin Motors Dunfermline. They even sent me a text and email of a video of our new car, so hats off to them.

Let me know how it drives.
I have now cancelled my previous order for the Jeep Compass, no fuss whatsoever with the dealer and going tomorrow to order the new Grandland 1. Ultimate. Have been told approxiimate delivery of around September. We shall await with open arms for when it comes as I am not really bothered having saved £1500 on an AP which IMO is a better car, better equipped and has a larger electric boot.

Sorry, meant to post last night.
The car was exceptionally well kitted and very comfortable too. The doors were surprisingly lightweight and my wife could get in/out easily apart from the corner of the seat which is quite hard when she is shuffling in/out.
The back has plenty of room for the kids and the boot was bigger than the Kuga we have just now. It did look amazing in the Ruby Red, the online photos didn’t give it justice.
We did not drive it as the salesman was from the Renault part and the Motabilty specialist from Vauxhall was away on a course.
However, he is calling us today to clarify a few things, such as it will be here approximately week 20, so I asked if I could get it for the new September registrations and what cost does motability pay for paint, I am sure it up to £600.00.
It was a cracking car and for an AP of £699, it is a no brainer.
However, we ordered a car in January and I am trying to find out how to cancel it as it has an AP of £2200 which we just cannot afford just now as our son is getting married in July and we are paying for his wedding. So we will be contacting Motability today after the dealer phones and hopefully contact the previous dealer to cancel the original order.
If all being well, decisions on Ruby Red or Cobalt Blue will need to be made and we will order it.
Thank you for advising me it was there, it was a real help.
Cheers.

That’s great feedback.
My wife struggles with the weight of the doors on our 2019 Kuga, where as we need doors that are lighter that she can use due to her arm strength too.
I didn’t realise that both front seats were electric too, must have missed that.
I sure will let you know and thank you for that.
Cheers 🙂

Thank you @Graeme and @Kilted Scot
Most dealers did say end of the month until they get stock. However, I called Macklin Motors this morning and spoke to an ordinary sales rep, he said it was an Elite (new Ultimate) in the showroom in Dunfermline. I think according to what you said @Kilted Scot, he may well be mistaken! and hopefully it is the new Ultimate. What colour was it?
Evans Halshaw Edinburgh are putting on the GS Line this week, by Wednesday as they called me back this afternoon.
If it is the new Grandland, I will visit tomorrow with the wife. It is for her to see if she manages in/out easily. Can you advise @Kilted Scot if the doors are the same, heavier or lighter for opening and closing? Thanks.

February 10, 2022 at 6:41 pm in reply to: Toyota Dealer cancelled my order after waiting over 6 months #176908Absolutely shocking! Go and kick some ass as you ordered it whilst it WAS on the scheme! The dealer has no right whatsoever to cancel it. It is not your fault it has been removed and they MUST honour your contract.
As far as Mota is concerned, they should know this so I would ask to speak with a Manager at Mota and if nothing is done, go in person to the dealer and threaten them with you contacting the papers and media over this fiasco, ncluding Mota, as it is DISCRIMINATION in my opinion.
Rant over!

I think the scheme is good value considering what it would cost to buy (or finance) a brand new car, insure it, tax it and pay for servicing, it is a no brainer in my personal opinion.
However, I am still a bit disappointed with the lack of choice for ground clearance, wheelchair bootspace and room for my two teenagers. I even bought an all singing, all dancing folding wheelchair to increase the type of car we could choose. That said, in these uncertain times, I had contemplated cancelling my new vehicle due to this not being perfect but in hindsight, I am glad I did not. Yes, our new vehicle has things missing that I would’ve liked to have and yes, it has a more higher AP than I would have likes, but more importantly it suits my wife’s needs perfectly as she struggles getting in and out of vehicles and the door weight was a major factor too.
So yes, I do think motability is still fit for purpose in these challenging times and I look forward to getting my new vehicle in March/ April 2022.

Glos Guy, thanks for that and I totally agree with you. It is a tricky one but it’s not the AP that is niggling me, I’m just not sure about the car being honest. It is a Jeep Compass 1.4 petrol Limited (brand new model) in black. It does look nice and I bought a new up to date wheechair so it would fit in the boot too.
Cheers

Hi folks, just a quick question.
I had extended my lease this month for an additional 2 years only to go for another car which is ordered and due March/ April 2022. AP £2200
However, I am not sure about it as there are a few things that are fantastic and some so not fantastic about the car. I feel it is a lot of AP for what I am getting as the car I have now was, I think £895 AP (Kuga Titanium X Edition). I did want the Qashqai Tekna + but it is not on the scheme just now.
I am contemplating to just wait for Q2 2022 or do I just bite the bullet and take delivery of the car. If I don’t want the car now, where do I stand with Mota? Do I just call the dealer and cancel then contact Mota to advise them of cancellation?
Any help appreciated.
Cheers

Hi Laura, the boot size is Length (back seats to boot lid) 79cm and between wheelarches 97cm. It did not fit my wifes wheelchair, however, she had a full size non collapsable chair, so we decided to buy an all collapsable, removeable wheels and folding wheelchair.
There is a button on the keyfob to open the boot but I will miss the elctric tailgate, however I am not that bothered. It does have an electric parking brake.
We have (my wife) struggled to find a car that has light doors, easy access and comfort for her and we find the Jeep ticks all those boxes. It is not that great from a standing start (1.33 litre) however, it suits our needs.
You need to go and see and test drive it.
Our dealer was fantastic, he let us drive it in town, along motorway and rural roads, it did take around 50 minutes. We even had time to stop in a car park and play with buttons and switches.
Hope that help.

@Psauder, I didn’t realise that as they never mentioned it to me, so apologies @Notts-Red, me bad.
@Paul, I am not paying £3200 for a Tekna which is not what we wanted, it was the Tekna + which is not available 🙁

December 20, 2021 at 11:44 am in reply to: Nissan Qashqai and Nissan Juke looks to be returning to the scheme #172090Yes, it ticks all the boxes for door weight, electric passenger seat for getting in/ out and the boot space for the wheelchair. We really liked it but days before we were to order, it came off the scheme and we cannot find a suitable alternative apart from replacing our Kuga for a newer one.
I’ve got my fingers, toes, teeth and eyes crossed hoping it comes back very very soon.

As I am disabled, I have to apply for my licence again, I have been waiting for 6 months now. The phone’s are always busy, I gather there are some delays due to the pandemic, is this right? They have all the information. Am I doing something wrong or just have to suck it up and wait?
@Tardelli I had to apply for my renewal a few weeks ago. I did it online on the Saturday and received my new one the following Thursday of that week. Hope that helps.

Hi all I’m just curious why the top spec model the ‘Ultimate’ is only £299 AP yet the SE premium is £649. What am I missing here?
I asked the same question years ago with a V40 Volvo.
What I was told, it is the value of resale after the lease expires, meaning they will get more back for the top specs, hence why some AP’s are lower on the top specs. This was from the largest Volvo dealer in Scotland.
