Can anyone tell me if your car goes in for anything do they have to give you a car to use while it’s being sorted.
Especially if it’s a auto and you can’t drive a manual?

If you book it in well in advance and they have an auto available, yes they do. However, they should come and collect your car and drop it back to you for free. Alternatively, if you are in no hurry and it is a quick repair, you could wait for it?

I have only once in the 20 plus years using motability that I have had to take it to the dealer and wait for it.

Current car 2019 Ford Kuga 1.5T Titanium X Edition (White)

On order new Vauxhall Grandland Ultimate 1.2 Turbo (Ruby Red)

Hello Marie, what’s the car going in for, and under who is it being fixed by, the manufacturer or motability..

My car has a fault it’s reported yet there’s a charge to pick it up, according to the garage, also a wait till the end of April for a courtesy car, waiting on a reply if they intend a charge on this also..

          Seems a total mess tbh..

Theoretically yes but I’ve never been able to get a courtesy car out of my local Mercedes dealer.

If I seem a little strange, that's because I am.

            Skoda Karoq SEL.

I’ve always had Courtesy cars for service’s They just say the 1st dates that one’s available on. honda asked if i needed an auto but vw and other’s have not or just don’t have them.

For other issues or for the mot then i go there and wait, any work doing they need mb’s authority and then often have to order the parts and then do the repair at a later date.

unless it’s a wiper that needs doing or an the oil levels suddenly low. So really it depend how long it will take..

Very recently my Audi Q3 had front and rear windscreen washer failure, on a car with 1000 miles on the clock. Audi Tyneside insisted that a hire car should be sourced for me, not a courtesy car. I phoned Motability who immediately transferred me to their preferred partner Europcar. I requested a high seat automatic, and was promised a Qashqai or Rav 4. What turned up was a Mercedes CLA AMG 200 auto. Way too low for someone 6ft 1in with mobility problems, the car sat on my drive for the entire week it took to repair the Q3. My conclusions are that Motability were great, hire car for as long as is needed, just phone and explain. However beware Europcar, they were not really very interested, their attitude was, take what you are given. Other than the hire car being completely unusable, everything, especially Motability, was pretty straight forward.

It was just for future reference as my car had a recall, although it wasn’t recalled we noticed the problem then when I took it in they said there had been told about it in Jan 2021 I didn’t get mine till oct 2021 but it  still had the same fault. If I hadn’t kept on about it I don’t think it would have been done. Very disappointing

I get mine picked up nowadays but I did used to ask and motability said that’s only compulsory if the garage keep your car for 24 hours or more.  A service is usually same day so its only if the garage has one available but tough luck if they don’t.
