Looking on the configurator, the metalic paint is £750, which I assume Motability will pay for, and the black roof is £1250. So you would have to pay £500 if you wanted the black roof.   I’ve ordered a KIA Sportage and have paid an extra £150 for the black roof.

@Quadz  I know what you mean about dealers forecasting delivery estimates.  It’s not just Motability customers they do it too, either.  Just go on any car forum and retail buyers get the same thing.  When I first deal with a salesperson before ordering, I say, please no BS, just tell me the truth about delivery times, especially if it’s bad news, I will appreciate them much more than lying to me, and so far every dealer I’ve dealt with have been sound.

I find that going on car forums for the vehicle you’ve ordered is always the best way to find out what is happening regarding delivery times, mind you, you’ll also see people moaning about this problem, or that problem, I guess it’s just the nature of the beast.

It looks like we’ll all get our Sportages at the same time.  Although, Selandia and Magnolia Seaways keep on landing at Immingham port everyday with new KIA’s from Cuxhaven. One day ours will be on either one!!!

Just had a phonecall from Kia regarding my Sportage order. I ordered 8th January 2024 was told April but know I’ve been told motability want their customers to have the most up to date MY25 version?? Personally I think that’s a bit of horse manure, they said because I ordered mine very early in quarter one I may get mine first ?? What’s everyone else’s thoughts on this, when do you think it’s more likely to be. Cheers in advance!!

Ordered mine on the 12th of January and was told April/May.  Dealer called me Friday to say looking more like June/July now, this is due to changing to MY25 production and shear weight of orders going in.   Should be just in time for summer and get to use the pano roof!!

We just have to be patient and not get to affected by, “I want it now, syndrome”, that seems to pervade out society today.

Had a call from the dealer yesterday to tell me there will be some delay as change over to MY25 production, Sportage. Looking at June/July, maybe.  Not the best of news, but these things happen, especially with such a popular vehicle.

Nice to be kept informed, it’s all you can ask in a dealer.  Still got the Tarraco, so no big problem.

If you read the kia sportage forums most of the private buyers are being given an average of 12 weeks delivery time by most dealerships I don’t know if that’s realistic or are private buyers getting preferential status.

Pretty much shows on the Wibblers list on the KIA owners forum, that waiting times are around the 4 to 5 months, regardless of private or Motability customer.   People who have ordered in November, both Motability, and private, are now getting to pick up their Sportages.

From my own experience, the dealer said to expect a wait of 16-22 weeks, I’m 11 weeks in, so I’m hoping to get my, “In production queue”, email from KIA in the 3 to 6 weeks.

I wonder if it’s the colour maybe? I have had a few updates and nothing positive. The last one said it ‘should’ be going onto the production list end of April but who knows. If it does it’ll be a delivery of at least August which is mad isn’t it really.[/quote

It’s more to do with left hand/right hand drive, and slots in the products line.

Good news is that if yours does go into production you should pick up end of May, beginning of June.

Shipping is not the problem, both DFDS ferries are running to schedule and have been for 3 months, they even put on 3 extra sailings which were exclusively car only, not trailer freight.   I’m more inclined to think that KIA have just had so many orders for the Sportage, they don’t have any more capacity to build extra numbers.  From the numbers I’ve seen on the KIA owners forum it’s taking 12-17 weeks to get the queue for production email to 18-22 pick up.  And 90% of orders are GT Line S HEV models.

@coruro.  You sound the same as me after my test drive!!    Even though mine is not even built yet, I’ve been watching the two DFDS RoRo’s going back and forwards between Cuxhaven and Immingham.  I really need to get out more LOL!

Which model did you go for?

@GlosGuy.  Definitely take a look and a test drive in the Sportage GT Line S, either the HEV or PHEV.  The things that are standard on this model is substantial.  Having test drove a few other medium SUV’s I extended as I was going to wait for the new Kodiaq to come on, but then went out in GT Line S HEV and was hooked.

                              Good luck with your search.

@coruro  I ordered the GT Line S HEV in January, dealer said 16 to 22 weeks, and this bears out on the KIA owners forum.  I’m 10 weeks in, so hoping to get my,  ‘in the production queue’ email in about 4 weeks.

If you can charge at home then the PHEV is the one you want, if like you can’t, then the HEV is perfect. I wouldn’t bother with the MHEV as it’s pointless and produced just to get around emissions.

Yes it did.  The option only appeared when my lease window opened in January.  There was an options section and I just click on 2 year extension, and then got a confirmation email almost straight away.

@Glos Guy  I put in to extend for two years through my online account in January, and got the okay straight away, was not asked for mileage or adaptions.  Not sure when these new rules came in, but I had no problem whatsoever.

Ouch!! ordered mine in November and they are quoting me beginning of May.

It could still be on Morning Calm, Stuart. If the ship arrives on the 9th, it could easily take up to 3 weeks from port to dealer, then 4 days Motability PDI, which will take you into the beginning of May!!

Mind you, if Hyundai do the same as KIA, you should get an email saying your car is safely tucked up on board a ship.

My understanding is, you have to arrange at your register dealership.  Just give them a ring and book it in.  My lease is up 31st March and had the MOT done the end of January after checking my online account.

And there’s nothing worse than waiting for a new car, I’m 9 weeks into my wait for the Sportage LOL!!

She’s passing Madagascar going the long way round, missing the trouble in the Red Sea. She’s now due in at Tilbury on the 9th instead of the 6th of April.  Hope your cars on there.

That’s a buggar, he’s right, you can now only get the black roof with silver, white and green colours now.  That’s a real shame as I think the red looks good with the black roof.

I found this car far bigger eay to drive easy get in and out, 6ft people can fit in rear,

The black roof is an optional extra at £150.  Although, you chose Infra red which is the free colour on the Sportage so they might not have charged you. Best to check on your order document, it should read next to colour, Infra Red + B.  If it doesn’t, get back in touch with the dealer.
