My Son has  a Kodiak PHEV at the moment and I’m a named driver . To make the scheme  viable  moving forward for  the next lease  is to go with a £0 AP EV or low as  we can find like the Toyota urban cruiser and  get another  cheap 2nd hand diesel or petrol motor for the distance trips. At least I can then build up some NCB for when the scheme ceases to exist.

We typically do  15K miles a year  and a PHEV was perfect for us but the 6.5K ap plus the excess mileage charge , VAT on AP , possible drivesmart + 1.5p a mile duty coming.. hardly a compelling package.

Yes full tank and full charge with three adult occupants .  I mostly use it in ECO electric mode and find it economical and a pleasure to drive , ideal for me  on a day-to-day basis plus I have the petrol capability for the odd longer journeys.  It’s a somewhat different driving experience in  hybrid/petrol mode and the engine can be a bit clunky/noisey when town driving compared to eco mode but once on the motorway it’s fine.

I have the kodiaq Phev and recently undertook a  trip up and down the country with a fully charged battery in  hybrid mode , here’s the stats from the phone app to give you an idea of what to expect.

Settings  Petrol £1.33 per l  – Charging £0.08/kwh (home low rate)

Fuel and charging costs combined £61.11

          Av fuel consumption 46.3 mpg

          Avg energy consumption 25.9 mi/kwh

          Distance 457 miles

          av speed 61mph.

It’s just a waiting game but don’t assume that  everything is working its way through in the background , keep chasing the dealer if they fail to provide regular updates.

The Kodiaq PHEV  doesn’t come with a  3 pin charger it’s an optional extra at a cost of £175.  The car comes as standard with a type 2 cable.

                Hi @chocolatekay66

I ordered the kodiaq SEL Phev at the beginning of October and was given a  3 -4  month lead time, however the Sportline model came on shortly after so the dealer kindly changed the order and managed to source one from stock which was delivered  just before Christmas.  If you don’t deviate from the standard build with option packs then you may well get a stock car a lot sooner.   I had an issue with one of the motability specialist at the dealership to begin with  because he didn’t put my order on the system and left the company ,  but once  I created a fuss I managed to get it all sorted and the dealership couldn’t have been more helpful in sourcing a car .  The Kodiaq replaced a much loved RAV4  and for the most part has exceeded my expectations , it’s  lot quieter and I can actually hear the radio now at motorway speeds !  the interior is very spacious and comfortable and the ride is almost as good as the RAV4.   It’s easy to drive and manoeuvre even for a large car  and has all the safety options you require with handy buttons on the steering wheel to turn off the ones you don’t. Being a PHEV it’s  costing me pennies to run compared to the RAV4 as I can charge at home and  my daily runs are less than 60  miles.  All of the tech works  with my android  and apple devices but it can be a bit clunky at times  and  the phone app is quite basic . The only  issue so far is with the navigation map on the virtual cockpit , this doesn’t work and requires a software update that isn’t yet available from Skoda. The map works on the main screen though so not too much of an issue.   In summary , it’s a great car , very spacious and well put together.

I’ve had my kodiaq phev for over a month now and I’m getting 54 miles indicated on the app at full charge and expect this to improve as things get warmer. I use the car predominantly in electric mode for my day to day travel and only use petrol for the longer journeys , of which I have few. Even so the economy on longer runs in hybrid mode is pretty much what I was getting on my previous car the hybrid RAV4.  I have the sportline model and that has ACC  which I only  use  on the motorways for longer runs and it’s brilliant but I’d certainly not want to be using it for urban driving. All in all it’s a great comfortable car and very economical if you can charge at home for 7p per Kwh,  plus I love the car preheat function on the app for those cold winter mornings !

I handed  my 5 year old Rav4 back in December and just seen it advertised for  £26K  at another Toyota dealership,  that’s only a 30% depreciation over 5 years !  I’d  certainly not be buying my car after lease end even if it was still available.

Thanks @tvs  but i think the horse has already bolted since I’ve been paid the GCP.  When I return my car in three years I’ll remember to leave it until the last possible moment  before I even contemplate looking for another car.  Motability should be more transparent about this pro rata arrangement on their website and the large hit you’ll take returning between the 4th and 5th year. It would be fairer all round to pro rata the payment using monthly rather than yearly increments as they do now but that’s the fat cat motability bosses for you !

I picked up my Kodiaq sportline PHEV yesterday , all good so far . I’ve just completed my first charge using the 3 pin charger and that’s gone ok.  I’ll get the wall charger installed in the new year when I sort out the shennanigans I’m having with British gas and my new smart meters.  I’ll keep you updated on the kodiaq but so far no complaints and it’s a great car to drive , however deep down I still prefer the trusty RAV4 i’ve just handed back ..  hopefully it will grow on me.

If you are looking to remove the areo covers on the  alloys when you get the car,  as I probably will,  you can get the skoda center caps and nut covers at a very reasonable price even with shipping from a certain online skoda parts dealer in CZ ( no extra vat/customs to pay as they have a uk presence ).

I have just changed my order with the local dealer from the Kodiaq  SEL phev to the Sportline and should hopefully have it before Christmas. It’s the ideal car for me as I need the space,   do most of my trips in under 60 miles and can charge on my drive.

Monty please let us know you thoughts once you have it .  I’m not sure when I’ll get mine but I would think March/April at the earliest now that the Skoda dealership have put the order on the system  for me . So far they have been really proactive in  sorting out the situation left by the departing motability specialist . Faith restored, for now.

Ok why can’t ppl just tell the truth .. it would be so much easier all around !  after a heated call with  the dealership it turns out they sacked the Motability Sales guy I dealt with  shortly after I placed the order with him , same day I think.  This is the reason the order isn’t on the  system and not  I suspect the issues they are having on the Skoda portal. Anyway the long a short of it seems to be that I need to start from scratch .. although probably with another dealer , depends how it goes from here.

It took longer than expected and a couple of visits to the Skoda dealership but I’ve just ordered the recently added Skoda Kodiaq SE-L PHEV in black   before it dissappears from the scheme, like everything else worthwile seems to be doing. The Xtrail N-connecta epower version being a case in point.

I’ve been searching and test driving  for a while and waiting in the hope that Nissan will improve on their meagre trim options for the xtrail  this quarter , only to find this morning that the top of my list  epower N-connecta has been removed from the scheme completely .  On the bright side my second choice the Skoda Kodaiq SE-L  got added in Phev format for the same AP 3999  so I’ll be ordering that tomorrow morning . I doubt I’ll get a delivery date before my RAV4 that is on extended lease  is due back  in  March 2025 though.

The lease extension rules make most of the cars i’d bother with on the scheme unviable. I’d  be prepared to stump up 6 to 7 K AP for a car over 5 years but not 3.   I currently drive a Rav4 on the scheme on an extended lease  and  the new AP on that is now 8K and the other option of the CRV has just jumped to the same  this quarter.  I don’t want a pure EV yet and that seems to be the way this scheme is heading so I’ll probably look elsewhere when I come to  change next year.

Yes the AP isn’t what it used to be back in September 2019 when I ordered. This is the Dynamic spec with pan roof and it was £2795 then.
