      Hi All

Newbie to Motability and appreciate finding this forum to navigate this new world!

I was reluctant to join Motability (initially thought it was a random advertising included with my PIP award letter!) but with my car insurance costs doubling even with 9+ years NCB and only 1 claim, it becoming more challenging to get in and out of my trusty Prius, and the need for more space (and I suppose comfort and the desire to start living a little after battling daily for the past 30 odd years with chronic health problems) I did the maths and it made sense. I could take away a lot of the stress of owning a car too, stress levels are an all time high battling day to day with just trying to function so again very welcome. I also had to bat away the dread of change and essentially learning to drive a new vehicle every 3 years. The other fear was being responsible for a brand new car, driving a 2008 car is different and has different expectations of running around in a ‘banger’ I don’t know if I can live up to it/deal with the added pressure!

Long story short here I am, I ordered on 2nd Jan a Skoda Kodiaq. Dealership experience was average, the chap was nice enough. I am not confident about the delivery time though.

What are others delivery times/experiences please? How are you enjoying the Kodiaq.

PS I ordered the Diesel 7 seater (only because the 7 seater is only available in the diesel) and living in a flat I can’t take advantage of PHEV – I think they’ve done away with petrols?

        Hi @chocolatekay66

I ordered the kodiaq SEL Phev at the beginning of October and was given a  3 -4  month lead time, however the Sportline model came on shortly after so the dealer kindly changed the order and managed to source one from stock which was delivered  just before Christmas.  If you don’t deviate from the standard build with option packs then you may well get a stock car a lot sooner.   I had an issue with one of the motability specialist at the dealership to begin with  because he didn’t put my order on the system and left the company ,  but once  I created a fuss I managed to get it all sorted and the dealership couldn’t have been more helpful in sourcing a car .  The Kodiaq replaced a much loved RAV4  and for the most part has exceeded my expectations , it’s  lot quieter and I can actually hear the radio now at motorway speeds !  the interior is very spacious and comfortable and the ride is almost as good as the RAV4.   It’s easy to drive and manoeuvre even for a large car  and has all the safety options you require with handy buttons on the steering wheel to turn off the ones you don’t. Being a PHEV it’s  costing me pennies to run compared to the RAV4 as I can charge at home and  my daily runs are less than 60  miles.  All of the tech works  with my android  and apple devices but it can be a bit clunky at times  and  the phone app is quite basic . The only  issue so far is with the navigation map on the virtual cockpit , this doesn’t work and requires a software update that isn’t yet available from Skoda. The map works on the main screen though so not too much of an issue.   In summary , it’s a great car , very spacious and well put together.

Thank you for your detailed reply. I’m glad you are enjoying your Kodiaq and the dealership ere able to sort you out sooner after the mistake they initially made. I did query if they had any vehicles in stock the answer was no. Wait is March 2025 and I hope no delays. If there are delays is there anything that can be done or is it just a waiting game? Dealer was reluctant to email me with the delivery date so I have a feeling the March date may be optimistic!

It’s just a waiting game but don’t assume that  everything is working its way through in the background , keep chasing the dealer if they fail to provide regular updates.
