Hello fellow Skodians. I hought I would start this thread, as there seems to be quite a few either taken ownership, placed orders or just thinking about getting the best ev out there.
So, any questions that someone may be able to answer, any good or bad dealings with dealers, specs wanted or received, perhaps someone could help others in their quest

Hi @KP85E13
I’m trying to do same set of sums as you about Brit Gas tariffs. I need to know whether BG increases the standard daytime tariff if you sign up for ev tariff. Also need to know how much the increase would be. Cannot get BG to tell me anything on subject: it will not give me any answers unless I install one of its smart meters which I am trying to avoid. So, can you help me with at least some idea of rates with ev tariff switched on?
Background/reason for question: just ordered an ID.3 and trying to work out whether it’ll be cheaper to forego ev tariff and avoid increased daytime rate. I only cover around 2,000 miles per year and have pretty high electricity usage in house (4,159 kwh per year), so I am concerned that I’ll end up worse off. Moreover, I really do not want a smart meter – it WILL go wrong, cost me even more money, leave me with uncharged car, and make me a gibbering wreck trying to get sense out of gibbering box-tickers on BG’s so-called helpline.
Any help greatly appreciated. Cheers…

Peak unit rate:
25.96p per kWh
Standing charge 46.90p per day
Current best none EV price they do for a day unit is: 23.02p and standing charge is :46.94p per day.

August 15, 2024 at 7:43 pm #286863@KP85E13 and @kezo Thanks very much, people. If only BG would let me have that data I need not have bothered you. (Tried that link, kezo but it just puts me on a page for switching ordinary tariffs, absolutely nothing for ev tariff. Will need to do my sums properly but it looks like switching to ev tariff will cost me more than paying standard day-rate for the car.
Thanks again, folks. Most helpful. 😊
August 15, 2024 at 7:43 pm #286864Has anyone tried using the full travel assist system yet? It’s actually really good does a cracking job of driving the car on its own
August 15, 2024 at 7:52 pm #286865@Tharg just did quote for random postcode. Once you have filled in all the questions, 3 tariff’s come up and one is an EV tariff. Try clicking your meter is smart if not done so already!
Also try Octopus.
August 15, 2024 at 10:18 pm #286884@kezo Thanks, again, mate. Brilliant Cunning Plan. Will try it and see what I get. If it is the same 3p or so per kwh difference which you’ve quoted then I’ll definitely keep away from the ev tariff.

Octopus Go will see about the same increase in day rate.
Octopus intelligent the gap is narrower.
My parents have stick to a single tariff, because they don’t do many miles, use medical equipment during the day and won’t move the washing machine/Tumble drier etc to overnight off peak. As an electrician, I have told them not to do that, as it isn’t safe.
You need to weigh up the pro’s & cons 🙂
P.S They have gone on a 12 month fix, to avoid increases next month and over winter and will look at fixing this time next summer!

August 15, 2024 at 11:41 pm #286890To be fair the dryer thing does depend on the type, a standard condensing dryer I wouldn’t have one in my house under any circumstances esp now the heat pump ones are much cheaper to buy and run and don’t burn your house down. We’ve had ours years now it cost £400 and it’s paid for itself more than once over.
Past 30 days ours has used 14kwh and it’s used every day unfortunately the runtime time includes time switched on not running so 600 hours and 14kwh doesn’t really help but it is used every day and we pay 14p/kwh on Agile

I have a Bosch Serie 8 heatpump dryer and whils’t it been fautles, I still wouldn’t leave it on, when I went out let alone bed. Guess Ive seen what it can do to many times putting the $h!ts up me.
August 16, 2024 at 9:15 am #286899@kezo Your Cunning Plan worked perfectly. Now discovered that EV-tariff daytime rate would increase by 3.9p per kwh for us. We would be £60 worse off by switching to EV so will stick to (lower) current day-rate for car. Only hope that Ohme will be able/willing to connect charger to non-smart meter.
Thanks again
August 16, 2024 at 9:25 am #286901Sorry I’ve just seen the mention, apologies for not responding sooner!
the way I worked it out is
Daily Charge x 7 PLUS 10kw cost x 7 PLUS 80kw cost x 1 EQUALS standard cost with average weekly charge
Then the same again but using EV tariff rates, I’ve not gone into the maths of moving appliances to overnight use as it’s unlikely we will actually stick to that, purely the calculation for adding the 80kw at the cheaper rate.
EV tariff is cheaper (for us) but it’s so dependent on your personal needs. That said, I will be calling BG in a couple of weeks to change over in anticipation of Octobers delivery!
Best of luck!

Thats good 🙂
I would perhaps now look for a fixed tariff sooner rather than later, as day rate prices will increase from next month and to see you over this winter at least.
August 16, 2024 at 11:00 am #286918Got my new glossy black Skoda badge. I’ve taken the existing one off and boy was that glued on!
If you’re doing it get it nice and warm and use ispropanol to dissolve the glue. The normal badge is pretty imsy I broke it getting it off but I don’t care.
I’m just waiting for a clamp to arrive before fitting the new badge I want to ensure it stays on. More pics to follow
August 16, 2024 at 11:00 am #286919August 16, 2024 at 11:39 am #286926I wonder if the MY25 face-lift will have the Skoda lettering on the bonnet instead of the badge?
Skoda’s new design cars all gave bonnet lettering. That’s why you can tell the AI generated models on YouTube that are fake as they still show the badge not the Skoda name!
I think Skoda are just following what other manufacturers have done!
The black bade looks cool though! Give us a photo when you’ve got it fitted!

August 16, 2024 at 12:26 pm #286929They did also have a S with the little arrow above it as an option too. Not sure if I like the big Skoda lettering as seen it’s a bit too much like the Build Your Dreams thing tattooed across your cars butt.
Just waiting on amazon as want to get this on right pics to follow
August 16, 2024 at 2:16 pm #286932I’d be tempted to paint the silver badge. Mask it off and use a small tin of black enamel paint from a model shop.
August 16, 2024 at 2:37 pm #286934Yup, take your point on fixed rate. Will discuss with Madam Tharg who is I/C all finances (except vehicles).
August 16, 2024 at 4:08 pm #286947If anyone has those skills it’s an option sure but I know I’d hate it if I did that lol.
The new badge was £10 comes with glue pad attached and whole thing is keyed so it’s not difficult but I just wanted a clamp to get best possible adhesion. Will put it on when I get home, fingers crossed

wow that’s hell expensive!!
im with OVO and I just added ev anytime charge to my tariff which means I can charge my car anytime for 7p /kwh. And it works perfectly- I’m still awaiting my Skoda (will collect it on 1st September) but my neighbour use our charger while waiting for his charger to be installed and we scheduled all charges on the app and it always charge for 7p.
meanwhile I pay unite rate 26.86p/kwh and standing charge for 41.75p/day.August 16, 2024 at 4:30 pm #286951Where’s that based? Two thirds the standing charge! Wow.

Just got email from my dealer with photos of my car who arrived finally !! However it’s another 2 weeks before I will be able to have it. But it’s ok. I’m soo happy it’s finally here and looks stunning!
