Ha, brilliant. I’ve read up and it does seem like an absolute bargain, haven’t had a sunroof for years.

My car will be 5 years old when change, not sure how much gcb I’ll get, had 350 already, but I guess I’ll have over 1k total to put towards new car.

          I’m going for it.

Thank you both. Did you chaps think the premium plus was worth the extra money?

I’m just afraid of being addicted to driving it and spending all me savings on fuel, haha.

I’ve been giving it regular supermarket unleaded, fuel cap says 95 octane and I’m getting about 37mpg with spirited driving with the limiter at 32 around Manchester. I’m tempted to give it a tank of momentum and see if that improves anything.

Thanks for the reply Dan, that might is crazy, can’t believe it, absolutely brilliant. The better fuel will give a slight edge imo but doubt it will be worth the extra cost. I’m 99% going for it, it seems too good an opportunity to pass up, just need a test drive to see if I think I can manage to drive it comfortably and will be able to live with it long term.

              Happy driving chaps.

We were on holiday last week and we walked past a Mini John Cooper Works. We both thought it looked fantastic. My wife couldn’t believe it when I told her that it was now available on Motability ? Completely impractical for us, but I’m sure that anyone who gets one will have tremendous fun!

I hope you guys enjoy your holiday ?? nice to hear you both thought the car looked great , it’s def a breath of fresh air for the scheme – impractical for the majority I understand but def a welcome addition for those can manage it’s dimensions like I mentioned previously during my 4 hour test drive I found myself smiling like a right wally behind the wheel when driving it – probably looked like I’d be let out for the day ? but who cares ??‍♂️ Anything that can a bit of joy back into the world is worth grabbing with both hands ??

<p style=”text-align: left;”>Hi Winston and Top8Dan, Lovely choice, what fuel does it require, std unleaded fine? Or must be super or vpower etc.</p>
                Thanks in advance.

What do you guys expect will be a real world mpg.

                Best wishes

That’s brilliant mrb, I parked along side one last night and it was a real head turner, I couldn’t help having a good look around it. Great choice, hope it turns up soon and in the correct spec. Nice to hear a good story in these times. Enjoy.

Astra Estate is a new addition. We are off and running!

It will not all come at once, but as time goes by we will get back to normality, fingers crossed for what’s to come tomorrow. The dealer I have just left was a true gentleman and I’ll find it difficult to cancel my order but I know I will have to if we get some real bonus surprises tomorrow, I wish I hadn’t ordered today now knowing mines come down in price, but he’d already put it through. We checked his emails just before I left and the new price list was there, he’s going to cancel/reorder tomorrow, he was a very nice chap.

Literally just left a Vauxhall dealer and hes just had the updated pricelist, Astra ultimate 1.2 auto is reduced by 150.00 too.
Hopefully it’s going to be a good quarter.

Off in to order a car today, I think waiting will be not very profitable, I have to reorder before xmas and its going to get worse before it gets better. By waiting for deals I’ve missed out of a couple of what would absolute bargains in todays market. I’ll get the order in and pay zero deposit and because of the very long lead times, I’ll cancel and reorder in the coming months if any significantly better deals (very doubtful) come along.

For what it’s worth, I think Motability is excellent and are doing what they can in these impossible times. My only criticism is that the organisation is quite profitable and should instead be slightly profitable to avoid any financial issues, they CAN AND SHOULD be making AP’s cheaper, or they should have been when the world was in more normal times.

Always and I’d be ashamed of other motability customers who do not.

In limbo here, any advice/best guess info about what to do. I’ve identified the best bang for buck motor to go for, for me. It’s currently at a reasonably good AP compared to many others. The question is, do I order in the next 2 days or gamble to see what else will drop onto the scheme, I’ve done the gamble and wait twice now and cars I fancied back then have either disappeared or the AP has gone considerably North, so I missed out. It’s a Vauxhall, do they fluctuate much or are they steady AP wise? Ahhhhhh, what to do?

Speak to your local dealer, they usually have access to the next Q prices a day or two before. If not ask them if you can cancel and reorder if the price drops.

Thank you. I’ve spoken to them and they have zero info yet, the guy also said he expects cars to come on but AP’s will head North if anything and he doubts anything come down. I’ll leave it another day and see if they get any info.

Feels like the masses are being taken advantage of again, shoot the prices up before really need to and lower prices slower then they can do.

I used to love to just go for a ride, play some great music, see some lovely scenery but it’s got to the stage of just being way too expensive. I’ve always gone for a sporty driving car that adds to the enjoyment but my next car choice will definitely be geared towards economy and comfort.

With everything over the last few years and 10 years of poor government rule in the UK it feels like the world is spiraling out of control some days, dampens my mood, gets one down and with getting older there’s not much that picks me up. I’m not too bad, just a bit up and down some days, they say money doesn’t matter but it does help to give us more to do then just surviving sometimes.

Hoping with you all that normal times return soon.

New Astra looks good and the early reviews are decent. Only one English speaking driving review so far from autogefuhl and they liked it quite a bit. Good value on the scheme too in the current climate.

It wouldn’t surprise me if that 2.3b profit wasn’t reclaimed by the government instead of refunding us and adjusting future AP’s and monthly payments

The screen being smaller makes it more difficult Imo. Also the temp controls not being illuminated at night is just wrong. Its poor from VW and I think the motoring press have let them know about it.

I had a new golf as a courtesy when mine was in for service. You are correct abour manufacturers moving the heater controls to the touch screen and VW’s is probably the worst execution of it. It put me off so I extended the lease on mine.

That said some manufacturers have half a clue about the issue and sort of solve it by having bigger multimedia screens, that way whether you are using the nav, the radio whatever, the climate controls are always on screen usually along the bottom making it easier to use.

This is purely a cost cutting exercise and I’m happy to see that some manufacturers are sticking with physical dials and buttons. They have always been buttons and dials for a reason, it’s the most intuitive and safest way to do it.

This is great news and hopefully more to follow. The chip shortage and other logistic issue’s have meant that car company’s have slowed production, as time goes by we will return to normal and more cars with fairer AP’s will return.

The ST-Line Vignale 155ps petrol/auto at £1195 AP looks an absolute bargain as things stand, very well equipped car, looks great too.
