Exactly. I can’t get a home charger, I’m in a terraced house with no off-street parking.
I trialled an Electric Kia Niro last year. It was nice to drive etc., but the lead was too heavy for me, I’ve no power in my hands and arms to lift and plug the leads in.
Everywhere I looked was charging different prices. If I wanted to charge at a cheaper rate overnight, the charger was nowhere near my house.
I have a disabled bay right outside my house due to mobility issues. An electric charger 3 streets away is of no use.
I chose the Qashqai epower Tekna. I’ve been driving it for a week. I chose it precisely because it’s a hybrid without any charging issues and no leads to plug in.
I’m not sure electric, as it is now, will be the ultimate solution anyway. Things change rapidly.
Will see what’s on offer in 2027, (?? depending on health), what changes are made, monitor the AP costs at the time, and start saving all my “silver” change.
Thanks Kezo. I’ll try that all again. I’ll take a passenger too. They can help with the right order in proceedings. Let’s hope we can find another quieter cul de sac. One with fewer speeding drivers.
March 19, 2024 at 6:57 am in reply to: How much tech do you need and do you use it when you have it? #268763Ateca self parking. I use the parallel park all the time. It’s quick and really useful in my one way street, especially when people half block the disabled bay to make it really tricky. Rear view camera is great too. Often use the voice control for sat nav, but nothing else.
Turned off lane assist asap. Not been on for 3 years. ACC used once, useless.
Looking forward to new car next week with heated seats, powered tailgate and blind spot warning.
Oh well. That’s good news.. but I’ll wait anyway.. thanks
I’m not losing £250 just for a few days. Plus I’d lose any Good Condition Bonus I think too, so potentially another £500 down.
Yep, my car is on extension until 29th March. Just arranged with new dealer to collect on 25th March. I can also leave the SEAT with them.
<p style=”text-align: left;”>They’re a Nissan dealer. Saves me trekking across town, then getting back to collect new car.

Hi, I did contact Motability – they won’t allow it. They’d charge the admin fee because it’s ending the lease on the car early.
I explained to dealer. He is fine to wait.
It’s not that long to wait.
Thanks for replies. I’ll just have to be a little bit more patient.
I’m hoping not to get mine marked when I get it.
The current Ateca was keyed twice when I went home to London. First time, 3 weeks after I got it, right on the driver’s door by the handle and along under the window. I got that sorted. Didn’t want to look at that for 3 years.
2 months later, keyed across the passenger front wing. I’ve left that one.
I no longer need to go to London. Thankfully.
I had 2 test drives in Qashqai. 1 with the dealer, the other with my brother. We were just signed off with insurance form and off we went. Returned about 3 hours later.
Volvo was very disintersted, SEAT were lacklustre, even though I’d originally ordered, then cancelled.
I had booked and confirmed with Kia but I was ill so I couldn’t get there – tumbleweed in response from them. Not a whisper as a no show.
Nissan dealer was really good, keeping me up to date with everything. Car, Qashqai Epower, expected at the end of March.
Oh. My Seat rep said it did and it appears on Listers Seat site. Oh well, good job i canceled then. ???
The only persistent issue I’ve had is a howling rear passenger wheel when I reverse. Full 4 brakes replacement, but it didn’t resolve. Got so fed up before Christmas went back to dealer.
They found it’s a fault with the caliper. I haven’t bothered to go back tbh. I was booked in to get it sorted and I ended up waiting over an hour for them to replace it. They then told me the wrong part had been sent, then I was told the part hadn’t been authorised.
I had a couple of nice cups of coffee and watched half of the muppet movie while I was there. Decided not to bother to return.
Seat Ateca Auto Xperience Lux has heated seats, heated steering wheel, leather seats, powered tailgate, 360° camera, blindspot warning, 19″ tyres, self parking for parallel and bay parking.
Ive driven the lower spec xperience for the last 3 years. Only once did I miss having the blindspot warning. Mirrors are great and great visibility. Has been a really good drive, but I’m changing to new while I can.
With the £750 help, that brings the AP down to £1745. Plus, depending, on how much you can get, another £250 off for Good Condition Bonus.
Wow. 10 years!?! PIP envy ???
I’m classed as terminal and have to keep renewing every 3 years. Didn’t even know longer than 3 years was possible.
I got mine sorted by my Citizens advice case worker. She completed the forms again, renewed within 2 weeks. 4th Oct re applied, 18th Oct all sorted. I’m not sure if it was so quick because I’ve got incurable cancer though – fast tracking..
Good luck and hope it gets sorted.
(Fewer than 8 miles travelled)
My first car back in 2021 i didn’t know to enter pin etc after inspection. ??♀️
One hour after taking the car, SEAT Ateca, I was sitting at a friend’s house waiting for RAC to come out to replace a defunct battery. Less than 8 miles travelled.?
Dealer had the car running when they handed it over. Got given the keys and that was it. I know it was in time of covid, but I had no clue how to even start the car anyway. Never having had an auto before.??
To top it all off. I then had to drive to London, 100+miles, in a car I’d never driven and had no clue where to find any controls, after receiving a call to, “get home quick, dad’s really ill.”??
Stressed then with waiting for RAC – who were brilliant. SEAT – who were bloody awful, “the car won’t start,”, SEAT rep “just go online and you’ll find all the info and videos.” ???
So, be warned. ???
Would you get Nectar points too for charging at Sainsbury’s ? ??
I’ve just cancelled my Ateca lux order made on 3oth Dec. Didn’t pay a holding deposit or cancellation fee.
Dealer didn’t ask, they weren’t bothered if I ordered or cancelled tbh. Little or no contact from them after online order.
In fact, rep asked if they had already ordered the car!
<p style=”text-align: left;”>Had an unexpectedly long test drive this afternoon, only because I was on the road parallel to the one I thought I was on. ??♀️???

Took my brother along as well. We were lucky enough to be set free of the rep, he was busy with another customer. ?? vroom vroom ⚡️⚡️Mixed driving, 30mph to 65mph.
Smooth, quiet, great cameras, nippy pick up, much better than previous test.
Booked the Qashqai epower Tekna in Burgundy.
Should arrive at the end of March, if not before.
Thanks for all advice.
It was his latest comments that really cemented the idea of change and jumping ship from SEAT. In addition I’ve not accepted anything or signed anything so it will be easier to swap. ??
I wasn’t too enamoured of the Qashqai when I drove it previously, but I think I wasn’t in the right frame of mind. After test driving various other cars, I need to give it another go to do a better comparison.
Thanks for all advice. I think, in my head, I’d already decided on swapping to something different. Had a few niggles at the back of my mind. Plus, the Nissan Motorbility rep was much more friendly and helpful.
He didn’t mind that I asked loads of questions he’d not been asked before – don’t know if that’s 100% true – but no eye rolling or fobbing off the little lady.
It’s a small thing, but good service is a huge bonus. Even better is the fact that they’re also much closer to home.
Decision made.
I’ll test drive again on Saturday, cancel current car and book the Qashqai.
Many thanks
That’s been an ongoing issue with this car, it wheel spins in all weathers pulling out at junctions, and I’m not a heavy footed driver.
Me thinks the qashqai is calling. ???
That is another thing I’ve been thinking about. I’m never personally going to be able to buy another car, this is the only way for me to get anything.
The thought of getting something different does appeal. I think that’s why I’m not completely committed to staying with SEAT and have been constantly checking the forum. I’ve no guarantees health wise of even surviving 3 more years!
Change is always good.
Thanks
Not really been bothered by faults with the Ateca, except the howling passenger rear side caliper ???. The joys of motorbility and having everything fixed
After getting the right spec, Economy is the next thing really. Luckily I’ve got access to Costco petrol prices, but still want to keep fuel costs as low as possible.
Thanks
I keep changing my mind after reading all the new comments.
I’ve ordered an Ateca Xperience Lux auto 1.5, but am re-considering the Qashqai epower Tekna. (I did do a test drive but I wasn’t blown away by Nissan.) Tbh, I’ve not been by the Ateca either – currently driving Ateca Xperience.
Can I ask for advice please? Which would the majority realistically choose?
Comfort, ride and economy are the priorities. They’ve both got all the spec I need.
Thanks
