I had the same issue, luckily I was at home when it wouldn’t open. No warning I just got up and couldn’t open the car. So I got the spare only to find that wouldn’t open either.
I’ve had this in the past and found if I open the boot this allowed the car to then unlock fully by the key. Not this time, I didn’t think that both would have drained with in the same time scale. So remembered the key should unlock the door manually. Even that didn’t work so tried my phone which strangely did lock and unlock. The trouble is you cant rely on the app as the 12v battery warning comes on regularly, saying unable to wake car.
Got on the phone to the dealership who seemed perplexed at the situation and advise I call Skoda Direct for assistance. They called later that day and said the batteries are done. Changed them FOC, I said the spare is kept in my wife’s handbag and she never uses it. It only activates when she’s at the car before me, for the KESSY entrance. Where as I leave the house many more times than she.
I keep my key in a Farady pouch, which I was told about after the batteries running out within the first 4 months of ownership. I’m currently due to replace in Jan 27. It seems after the latest update the batteries are running out even quicker according to Skoda call out guy. He said the advice had changed regarding Faraday pouches too.
I felt like a really dope not checking the batteries before arranging a call out.
Most people probably obtain any information regarding the scheme from the dealership that’s selling the car. The dealer’s are supposed to ascertain if the vehicle is suitable for you? ie Comfort, access etc. Surely they will need to enquire how much you intend on using the car ? The mileage penalties are a valid reason for the car not to be suitable.
Due to finance’s somebody is unable to pay the AP, for a suitable car from Motability. You apply for a grant to obtain a car. Its fair to say there are a number of people who will not be aware of the mileage change.
Yes I get you should read the contract and its you’re own fault if you don’t.
But there will surely be people returning cars over the allowance and expected to pay possibly £1,000’s of pounds.
The ethos from motability has always been trouble free/ worry free motoring.
So I’ve just returned from the dealership, I had to get the spare key re coded.
I mentioned the keyless entry issue whilst sat waiting. The technician informed the service guy that, Skoda deem any dirt on the handle can effect the keyless entry. LOL my car wasn’t showroom clean but deffo presentable. Upshot is lets see how you get on.
The rear boot opening/closing button on the inside of the driver’s side door is very convenient too.
Ours was in for the same service/software update last week.
Due to a faulty A/C sensor it was in for 4 days. The update wouldn’t get past the A/C fault, so they had to wait for a new one.
I also explained about the 12V battery & keyless entry. The service guy made a note but offered no response, even though it had been in before for the same fault pre winter last year.
The following morning due to the cold snap the keyless entry failed again, however the last two mornings its worked. Although the pre heating wouldn’t activate as the car wouldn’t wake up after the cold night. So it seems the 12V issue is never going to be sorted, even though they must no about it. Every winter its the same.
Apart from these issues the car us great and would deffo be looking for the same, with the current offerings.
I keep my key fob in a farady pouch whenever I’m at home. This is to prevent the key from constantly communicating with the car.
Trouble is I’ve had the batteries replaced once already, after 12months. Now 6 months later the key I use everyday has stopped working again.
I had both front facing and a rear facing camera installed by my Skoda dealer
I had a dash cam fitted by the main dealer, when I collected the car last Jan. It was a nextbase 322gw front and rear, the offer at the time was £150 inc fitting.
Well, I had a few issues with ordering my Enyaq.
I tried to get the dealer to match the drop in price for the 85x sportline this quarter. He wouldn’t so I went elsewhere and reordered. Then I had a rethink and asked if they could source an Edition 85 quickly.
Managed to locate one 2 weeks ago and picked up this very morning. More than happy with the spec and not too fussed its not the 85x sportline I originally wanted.
We were in the Skoda dealer yesterday, they were offering a Nextbase fitted for £249. It may be worth speaking with your dealer.
Jojoe
Which Skoda dealer was this ? I enquired at the weekend, with my dealer whom quoted £460 for a Nextbase fitted. I pick my 85 Edition later this month.
January 3, 2024 at 5:50 pm in reply to: New Q1 AP Drops in Price ASK the Dealer for the New Lower AP #253686Phaedra,
I have gone to another dealer, I told him if he couldn’t alter my application then I would go elsewhere. He didn’t so I walked away.
January 3, 2024 at 4:40 pm in reply to: New Q1 AP Drops in Price ASK the Dealer for the New Lower AP #253663I’ve let the salesman himself aware of the loss of future business, however I’m not going to name. He was doing as motability instructed, its just a shame he choose them over me. I would rather have the money in my pocket than anyone else’s.
January 3, 2024 at 3:10 pm in reply to: New Q1 AP Drops in Price ASK the Dealer for the New Lower AP #253643Well he states its not possible after emailing Motability. So I will be sent to the back of the queue and start an order with another Skoda dealership. For the sake of £400 I don’t mind waiting another few weeks, I’m happy with my Kodiaq.
January 3, 2024 at 12:30 pm in reply to: New Q1 AP Drops in Price ASK the Dealer for the New Lower AP #253603I stand to be corrected but I think the salesman is taking the whole process too personally. I understand nobody wants to be told how to do there job, however needs must. If he doesn’t want to do it than thats upto him, just like I can reorder with another dealership.
I was one of many that had there order cancelled when Skoda/Motability couldn’t agree about the upgrade from 80 to 85. The dealer cancelled my order the day before the 85 was added back onto the scheme, so he’s not my favourite person. I don’t know for sure but its likely he was aware of this fact.
January 3, 2024 at 12:14 pm in reply to: New Q1 AP Drops in Price ASK the Dealer for the New Lower AP #253599Well he’s adamant that it will cause the order to be cancelled and then resubmitted as a new order. Thus pushing my build week back somewhat. Even though he’s colleague sat next to him, told him he used to do this when he worked for another manufacturer. Without any penalty …..
He’s speaking to motability and then going to call me back to cancel the order and start again.
January 3, 2024 at 11:29 am in reply to: New Q1 AP Drops in Price ASK the Dealer for the New Lower AP #253583Well my dealer proclaims it can’t be done!
I’ve obviously explained to him that I have done this exact thing before with a previous order. Lets see what he comes back with.
I ordered a 80 sportline on the 27th Oct.
I advised my dealer to keep the order open until the 85x may come on. However last weds he called to say the 80’s were no longer available and the 85x would hopefully be back on in Jan. Motability confirmed that to be correct and between the two of them, promptly cancelled my order.
The following day the 85 appeared on the site much to my amazement. I approached both dealer and motability who said they had no idea it was coming back the day after the cancellation. my attitude was likely story.
I escalated the complaint and was informed that Skoda had 18, 80 sportline variants and I could have one on changeover day, Jan 2024. Furthermore some 500 motability orders that had been taken by Skoda, were going to be upgraded free of charge by Skoda. Mine hadn’t been accepted as an order by Skoda and wasn’t eligible for the upgrade.
I currently now have a 85x sportline on order for sometime in 2024.
