I have to say that while I’ve only had one Hyundai I could not fault it in anyway. The old Kona was superb tbh so would love another Hyundai. As for the e3008 well it’s sort of putting me of another french EV and I believe the scenic and e3008 were built from scratch. Could similar problems occur?
Glos guy I’m currently looking at the Tucson plug in. I really don’t want to go back to ice but I want the best car/tech for my money and as I can plug in every night I am considering the plug in ultimate.
A few reviews I read said the ride wasn’t great particularly the steering and the brakes. The brakes in particular.
Very spongy at first touch then very sharp. I think I read on here someone complaining of the same thing about a Renault?
The Kona I was after has went up 1k. Think I may have to take a chance on the scenic icon as I’m not keeping that e3008. Still no V2L
I’m interested in this also. Just had the e3008 back to the workshop this morning and had a look at the scenic and this is nice… then realised I was sitting in an austarl lol. Got in the scenic and was a bit hmmm compared. I do think the ap for the iconic seems good. But do I want another french EV 🫣
The video does make sense TBF. It’s just hard to swallow when the ‘charity’ is sitting on so much profit/reserves. I suppose they took a hit mind when the profits went from £1.1 billion in 22 to only £748 million in 23 and the poor boss only got £673,000.
What I got from the video was, aslong as your bad habbits, youve picked up over the years dont affect your control and safety of the vehicle, you will be fine mate. For example, you could show you are in control of the vehicle by switching on auto hold, therefore at a junction the car is safely under control or use the handbrake and put the car into neutral aswell. Park mode, locks the transmission with a metal pin and is used when the vehicle is parked up after use imo. Drive how you would normally, there is less chance of you complicating matters. They are looing at control, awareness not a prim and proper driving test! Above all don’t worry 🙂
👍
I watched it and understand what this assessment is but what is deemed as safe? ie do I need to apply park and handbrake at every stop like you would in a test.
Here’s a good example and one that caused a riot as it ment I was not allowed out of hospital without a fight.
To get out I had to do an assessment which involved me going into a kitchen in the brain injury unit and make a cooked breakfast all while being watched. I made scrambled eggs, toast and tea.
I went in and done it and nailed it, everthing cooked and not burnt lol and when I said I’m done the OT said have I missed something, I said no and we went back and fourth a bit before she told me that I had not turned the cooker off, I did and this went back and fourth again. She then told that I had not turned it off at the main switch on the wall. I told her I’ve never turned it off at the isolation switch and my argument was that I was not programming the clock every morning and that she had no problem with the kettle being left on at the plug switch.
Because of a brain injury and spending so long in hospital that I got very agitated over this. They eventually agreed after two days that I could go home but I need to think about turning it off at the isolation switch.
So I’m just not looking for another situation like this.
There’s no auto hold in this car. I’m just trying to cover myself so there’s no surprises. My license means everything to me.
FFS it’s a joke now. Honestly I’m laughing more than annoyed 😂. Like I said I was in the car about 20 minutes ago so turned it off and went back into the house. I had to bring the OH to work as I’m walking down the garden I can see that the dash is all lit up. I know the car was turned off as it gives two loud warning bings when you open the door and haven’t switched it off. And on the 3/4 of a mile trip OK Peugeot popped up 3 times even though we weren’t talking. I do have special car, I’m going to start calling it Kit lol
Although I am getting paranoid that people may start thinking I’m making some of this up ☺️
Cheers folks. I reckon I’ll sail through it tbh 😂 one thing I’m unsure off as I done my test 30 years ago in a manual car and was told when stopping at anytime, junctions etc that put in neutral and put handbrake on, clutch bite etc for taking off. What happens in an EV, the same? Put in park then apply handbrake? Is there even a test for EVs or are they classed as automatic cars?
@Declan you are more or less bang on the money with 260 miles combined in mild weather https://ev-database.org/uk/car/2003/Peugeot-e-3008-73-kWh
Appreciate that Kezo, cheers. That’s not great. At that rate, we would need a battery with a wltp of 450 miles just to get 300 real world miles (or 250 in winter)!
The old Kona got me around 270 in summer and 220 in winter which wasn’t bad for a 64kwh battery that was in a 2021 car.
Kezo the last mess up was on Thursday so no time to get sorted before the new quarter.
MF it doesn’t work in the e3008, because the app doesn’t work lol. It’s worked twice to precondition the car and I’ve tried everyday, twice a day just to check if they have updated and it works. My last full charge got me 183 miles and I’ve no idea how or why it’s so low. It’s showing as 2.7milkwh. I’m trying hard to get good range but it seems to be going backwards as at the start it looked like 220 with full charge. Yes I’m using climate slightly more but not that much as the cold really doesn’t bother me and we’re still not in the weather were the windows steam up.
I think I remember on the FB page a few reporting terrible range as well. Tbh I can’t remember but will have a look later as it is the OHs FB I looked on as I can’t be arsed with it tbh.
Just today the I- toggle screen and sat nav wouldn’t work. Two days ago all the radar stuff wouldn’t work and it was telling me to go to a garage. The radio was on the other week when I got into the car, I have a video of it on and all the screens are black as in off, not even off were the blue light? Can be seen. I have pictures and videos of it all. So it won’t matter what fault codes the car does or doesn’t show up, a picture doesn’t tell lies.
I’m sitting in it now as I wanted to check the range for this post. It’s raining and fairly dark, it’s a lovely place to be lol. The only two times I’ve enjoyed being in the car was two nights were me and the kids went out a drive over the mountain and had a bit of a rave. A decent sound system and a lovely place to sit in.
Edit I must mention the bizarre sound it makes. It’s only happened twice and this time my 14yo was in the car and was like ‘what the hell’. It only lasts about two seconds and is a loud mechanical sound. A bit like an impact drive.

I’ve never went away Declan, I just don’t want to talk about that car lol.
The problems are mounting up. It’s going and I’ve already spoke to motability. They said if I want to cancel now it would cost £250 but if the dealer looked at it they would not charge me a fee regardless of outcome. They/she was brilliant TBF.
Hurst has made a mess of booking it in as I wanted it looked at before new quarter so I could order in case of ap going up. But they can’t book it in until the 1st. So I will just have to wait. Kona is looking like 1st choice and tbh I can only see a freeze or even lowered ap, I can’t see it going higher. Or something better may be added.
It’s all electrical problems really, but boot has opened itself again.
Now I’ve a big problem which I will start a new thread on as it’s not really related to this thread.
September 26, 2024 at 6:30 pm in reply to: Do you feel dealers see Motability customers as a lesser customer? #289360I must be the exception. When I go and look at cars I want to be alone. When I go to order I want it done quickly. When I go to pick up I don’t want a tutorial.
I’m not antisocial lol. I just don’t see the point as I will have done my homework and I can work out the bits n bobs myself.
I’ve never had a bad dealer, they’ve all been sound and you can have a laugh with them. Mind northern Ireland is a small place.
Colinrg when I got my Volvo of them about 7 years ago they had left a big fancy bunch of flowers in the car. Nice touch tbh.
Unfortunately it’s not going to happen. The cheapest diesel car is £3395. And I believe will only get worse I’m afraid.
Having the old Kona I can certainly say it’s small compared to the new model. Ele it’s a handy site and I’ve had it bookmarked for a while. But I still always go with a tape measure and measure everything that’s important to me
September 15, 2024 at 1:24 pm in reply to: Motability car no longer suitable – can I terminate early? #288686I can’t see a problem with is tbh. Mobility are good to deal with regarding things like this. They may also reduce the early termination fee or ask for nothing.
September 12, 2024 at 1:59 pm in reply to: Help / advice with renewing lease – wait or not to wait for new AP list? #288442And then there’s ‘other’ lol. Whatever that is. Talking about the e3008 and what energy is being used by what. Recently I had e-motor 71%. Climate 11%. Other 18%. On the day there was no wipers being used and just the radio on. 18% is a hell of a lot of energy being used especially when I don’t even know what for.
September 12, 2024 at 10:45 am in reply to: Help / advice with renewing lease – wait or not to wait for new AP list? #288422The OP is not spreading misinformation as the Skoda calculator shows that I would only achieve 169 miles in winter and that doesn’t appear to take in wipers, radio, lights etc, so probably less again. My last charge in the e3008 got 210 miles so about 65% which is a hell of a lit closer to half.
Enyaq sport line range 324, motorway driving, internal temp 21, family. Predicted range 169. This is very common driving for me. Hardly doubling down when she put up a manufacturers figures.
Tbh I thought you were both a bit harsh on the OP, considering you didn’t even try to explain how EV driving works and just accused them of telling lies.
Kellayb there are just to many different outcomes for people driving EVs from living in the south of England to the north of Scotland, family always in car to just a driver and maybe passenger. Like a hot car in winter a cold car in summer, heavy footed light footed, what type of roads your most used journeys take you. Even ev driving style as I found that coasting improved range greatly and better than re-gen braking.
But like others have said. If you can’t charge at home or work, then I don’t think an EV would be the best choice.
Now that you’ve a bit of breathing space just try and save as much as you can and hope that what you would like will be within reach, or drop in price, or something better/new comes on in the next quarter. GL
Yes Kezo same as the e3008. I always take them out, but didn’t for these measurements.
At the beach last week. Kids wet suits and body boards= lots of sand. Much easier to clean the metal bottom of boot.
@timjl I have had two EVs and both came with full battery at no cost. I wouldn’t pay it as it. If they say the car will be nearly empty then just fund a charger close to the dealer and do you first public charge to start getting used it.
Kezo I fell in love with an old flame who’s put on a bit of weight, like she’s really big now, but everything is in the right place and she knows what she’s doing. That fling with the french super model has to end. She looks the part but hasn’t a clue what’s she’s doing just so high maintenance.
September 10, 2024 at 6:47 pm in reply to: Help / advice with renewing lease – wait or not to wait for new AP list? #288297Yip the HS should get a look. I’ve had some nice cars on the scheme and considered it a while back. Branding doesn’t annoy me, what I seen was a big reasonably equipped car with a good AP. I’ve heard of reliability problems a few years ago, mostly the auto box, but I believe it’s been sorted.
Missing sounds I was talking to a dealer today and he said he expects all EV prices to start going up and by a fair bit. More inline with ice cars.
