Another update…status 195 vehicle reached the uk this morning not sure how long before it reaches the dealership. Landed at immingham
It’ll be with you in no time now @Ayzee. Really happy for you mate 🙂
Keep us all updated on how you love your new car.
Got some good news for those waiting for your i4’s adaptive cruise control is now standard explains why a few weeks ago budest received his with it! I’m buzzing saved myself £750
That would indeed explain things @Ayzee.
How you all liking your cars?
I’m loving that i4 TBH. It’s a bit wobbly in bends even in Sports mode but overall it’s growing on me. My range has increased from 200 miles per charge to closer to 240 and driving the same way. I am assuming that it takes time to settle on an average or maybe requires so many miles to be driven before a true average can be provided?
Two questions for the i4 owners amongst you.
1. Do you hear any noise from the front shocks when going over speed ramps? I am getting a single dull knock sound that doesn’t seem right to me but having never driven a BMW before I am wondering if it’s normal?
2. When using the rear screen de-mister, have any of you noticed the top few lines not clearing at the same rate as the rest?
Thanks
Does anyone know how to turn this off. My i4 keeps breaking before i have pressed the break. im not sure if its noticing a distance from the car in front and keeping a distance but Im not use to this takeover. maybe i just have to learn to get use to it?
@Mm7 do you have it in B mode when driving? Sounds like you have. There are two drive modes on the ‘gear panel’. B is regeneration mode when the brakes are applied when not accelerating. It is supposed to regenerate a little charge. I actually prefer this mode myself.Following with interest even though I have the HK in mine! There’s only two possible explanations: Either AKX’s car is fitted with the HiFi system “by mistake” (like Budest’s car came with ACC when it shouldn’t have), OR, he is mistaken and those speakers he thinks he has are actually dummies, there in case the future owner decides to upgrade to HK. It just seems unlikely that several dealers and different operatives at BMW Genius can be wrong in this. Got me popcorn out for the next installment ?
Following this myself @72dudes. I have the Sport with HK and have heard the standard sound in the M Sport and they are night and day. The HK is in a different league so I hope that anyone who ordered the HK gets their order honoured and in a timely fashion.
Re the ACC in my car. It has got to be an error on BMW’s part as I followed my car’s progress through the build phase via Genius and am positive the car I’m driving is the one I ordered and not one that was someone else’s cancelled order.
@Ayzze I picked mine up end of March it wasn’t standard and I paid £750 through connected store. Looks like @budest has dropped on a mistake by bmw very nice.
No idea what happened @JohnK. I had noticed that when using cruise control the car was braking and speeding up depending on car in front so I came on here to ask about adaptive cruise control because I’d no idea what it even was. It’s obviously been some kind of error on BMWs side.
Just to confirm that it turns out my Sport does have the adaptive cruise control for some very strange reason considering I never asked for it and certainly didn’t pay for it. Took the car on to the motorway today and when the car in front slowed down so did mine and when it stopped so did mine then as it drove off mine followed. I’m not complaining but it is strange you’d get this for free.
Could I just ask, if you go onto the connected drive store in the car, does it still show as available to buy at £750 on yours? Or is it not there?
@Cris it still shows as available to buy ?♂️Just to confirm that it turns out my Sport does have the adaptive cruise control for some very strange reason considering I never asked for it and certainly didn’t pay for it.

The car detects stopped traffic and will give a little bit of help as I noticed this. But the acc is full start stop cruise control with distance function. It will bring you to a complete stop and start off again without touching any pedal. On the £350 I was kept waiting on handover day so it was a courtesy payment due to inconvenience.
Thanks @JohnK. That is exactly what mine does. It will slow down/stop and accelerate again when the car in front moves off or speeds up. The distance between myself and the car in front can be adjusted using the buttons with the lines on them on the left hand side of the steering wheel where the cruise control buttons are found.
Question for you all regarding the cruise control. I note the adaptive cruise control is a £750 paid for software upgrade, but I think my car may have already have it? When I activate the cruise control and set my speed, the car automatically brakes and keeps its distance from the car in front. I can also manually increase or decrease that distance.
I am misunderstanding what the adaptive cruise control is or does it sound like I have it?
Did everyone get both the BMW charging card for discounted Bp pulse and ionity Charging and the motability go charge card ?
Yes I got both @Mm7. Along with an BMW umbrella, 2 BMW key rings and a full charge.
Hello guys Just a quick update to say I collected my i4 m sport pro on Friday a couple of you had questions Bmw gave me a bmw charging card for discounted Bp pulse and ionity Charging, you register this through the bmw app I also got given a motability go charge card and they also fitted in a ohme home pro charger at my house when I collected the car my salesmen even gave me a gift (bmw umbrella) My car battery percent was at 93% and 233 range showing when I collected overall the car is amazing, the seating position is higher up and a lot better than my previous 3 series and the seats are one of the best seats I’ve sat in (m sport seats) If you have any questions please ask
@Yk I had the same experience with my dealer with the only minor difference being that the battery was at 100% when I picked it up.Does the M Sport have different seats to the Sport model?
Have any of you bought a boot organiser? If so, can you recommend one?
Also, have any of you got a 12v port in the boot?
Works on my iPhone surprisingly agree with hud & h/k sound system
Are you using CarPlay whilst charging?
Loving the car (even with the range limitations which I will learn to work around).

Loving the Harman/Kardon sound system and heads up display on the Tech Pack, but how are you all finding the wireless charger? Is it just me or is it rubbish?
I think if I made regular long journeys even probably as little as twice a year I would not have opted for an electric vehicle and would certainly advise anyone else not to bother. I do not think they are a suitable car as the infrastructure simply isn’t good enough at the moment in this country. For what I use it for short journeys it’s ideal and is already saving me money. Some people may not mind stopping to charge but it just seems to much of a fuss.
Very true John. Around town and for distances of 70-80 miles there and back, the i4 is great but it isn’t a car that is designed to be driven long distances IMO, but that is the same for all EVs due to the lack of infrastructure, as you say.
The truth is that petrol and diesel cars will always be more convenient.
We are also getting around 200 miles on a full charge. This is using it normally in comfort mode.
I’m not on my own then. Took it a 100 mile round trip drive on Saturday and set off at 100%, driving fully in Eco Pro mode and within the speed limits. Returned home with 48% battery remaining. Only thing I had on the whole time was the sound system.
Electric cars certainly have a huge issue with range at present.
I am planning a 450 mile round trip next week which would likely require 2 stops to charge, assuming a 200 max range on a full charge, so I will be taking the brother’s TDI as it’s range is 550 on a full tank, thus not requiring any stops.
I love the car, but for longer journeys, you cannot beat a petrol or diesel.
How are you all finding the range? I’ve been driving mine sensibly, in Eco Pro mode, with very limited use of the a/c and max range seems to be around 200 miles. Would be interested in hearing your experiences with mileage.
I really hope you get it and look forward to you posting some lovely pictures of it just to annoy us all who are still waiting lol.
