Thx Guys!
The AP is £2,595. But with 750 from MB and 250 GCB bonus, I.ll pay £1595 in tokens.
Its claimed range is 313 mile, so realistically its gonna be 280 at best.
The dash is a bit basic. But at least I can read it, I struggle with the small icons on the 2008.
It is cheap as chips.
But then again Motability are looking after themselves, what they can sell a car for 3 years down the line.
In 2026 they will not be able to give away the ICE hybrids.
Who would want to buy a car with a 4 year lifespan in 2026??
I visited a couple of dealerships today and had a couple of test drives.
1. Honda, I test drove the HR-V. It is a stunning, purposeful looking car. Unfortunately, it looks good, but is very very noisy driving along. It seems to be tyre road noise and quite loud. This was my first erxperience of a CVT gearbox and …meh its how it works…not a big deal. Everything else was ok, but eliminated due to road noise.
2. Just bounced into the Newbridge VW Dealership, after a quick chat they handed the keys to an ID.5.
Wow. This ticked every box.
Really high seat position, I reckon QQ or Sportage territory..that is the seat jacked up as am a short arse.
I never thougth I would get an EV at this height. I thought I would have to go with a Hybrid Sportage, or QQ.
A clean and clear spacious cabin, I reckon the sunroof made it look big. Very clear view of the road, and decent mirrors. Very good over speedbumps, that is a biggie for me.
It is plenty fast, I just love the EV no lag push. Its rear wheel drive as well.
I kinda set a limit of 2k on cars. This came in at about 1800 with the 750 from MB. then 250 GCB should lower this further.
Anyway, a 16 week lead time for the cars. free metallic paint, I chose Blue with black roof.
I done a dealer order there and then, I cant officially order from Motability until Mid August for mid November handover.
But yup ID.5 – it ticked all my boxes. Touch controls I will live with. It fits in my drive.
I cant tell you how relieved I am that I found something that ticks all the boxes.

As Kezo says yo get the keys to the car when you input the PIN.
The dealership went above and beyond to get the car to you, and you didnt enter the PIN.
The PIN is Motability’s way of discerning that the order is fulfilled and the customer has accepted the car.
It is essentially a digital signature.
If you dont know the procedures for accepting the car Motability will advise you.
I would suggest phoning Motability, they are the only ones that can help you.
Speccy.
TBH from what you write we get an inclination of who treated whom badly.
If you are going to be abusive to the team members down a phone, I am no judge, but I would bet that
Barry Le Grys would do everytihng to protect his team. He has done that his whole career.
The team have no way to defend themselves, and it is usually a one sided rant.
But Speccy for your own health, you are only making matters worse for yourself. Sometimes you have to let stuff go, analyse and bury it.
Everything about your case is outwith your control. You are never going to win, because you have already lost a lot by your grievance.
For your own sake – let it go.
July 19, 2023 at 10:35 am in reply to: Nissan Juke 1.6 Hybrid N-Connecta or Leaf 39kw N-Connecta? #227217If you want to know the spec of ANY car, just Googele:
Build my XXXx or whatever. ‘Build my Nissan juke’ in this case.
You can then see what the motability vehicle model and trim level is fitted or not fitted.
July 18, 2023 at 11:46 pm in reply to: Nissan Juke 1.6 Hybrid N-Connecta or Leaf 39kw N-Connecta? #227194I sat in the Nissan Juke in the dealership today and was very surorised. I sat in the QQ and it was good, but the seat height of the Juke was the same! I did notice the Juke seats were very supportive, much better than the QQ. But I just slid in to the seats on the juke, they were exactly at bum height.
I was very impressed by the Juke. I dont think there would be much difference in the seat architacture between the Tekna and the Nconnecta. Maybe better materials, as long as there is lumbar support its all good. Heated seats are a given, you can add them as an extra.
Parking – you only really need the rear camera, door mirrors and the sensors, but always always switch between the door mirrors and rear camera…if anything gets close – the sensors will ping you.
‘I really want to test drive the ID5 but I know a 0-60 time of 10.4s is going to disappoint me.’
That for me is not a factor, it is meaningless, besides am used to that in the Pug anyway, so not missing anything.
Its about comfort, not about how quick you can get yourself into serious trouble…lol….
PHEV, not really required to have a charger, its a faff anyway. Everyone manufacturer to jump on the hydrid bandwagon. PHEV isnt very effiicent.
as WNCforum says – just use the granny plug if required. If you are gonna drive for 20 miles below 30mph, it is useful. But a hybrid is better.
I am surprised they havent phased out the PHEV solution.

Oooh very very god news …I like it.
I visited the Renault garage this afternoon and had a look at the Megane again. It is gorgeous….Hope yo get the colours you suggested!!
Most companies have AI to deal with complaints and you can never get the phone number for Customer Service.
In all honesty airing your grievance on here may make you feel better, but achieves very little.
What DOES work with any organisation, is to air your grievance on Twitter.
Because every man an his dug can see it….you usually get a swift response from Custormer Service.
My tuppence worth…lol.
Better phone and ask motability that question….
I had a look at the ID.5 today, getting in and out was easy.
It seemed very big in the small showroom. The Display model had a sunroof, and it is the same for the Motability grade.
He is getting back to me to arrange a test drive…not sure thats ever gonna happen, got the feeling I shouldnt hold my breath. They would ‘See’ if they can get a hold of an ID.5 for test driving.
Went to the Honda showroom a handful of meters away. Had a look at the HRV. It is niiiice.
Seats are same level as the Pug, very nice inside. No power boot though. The salesman said we could do an adaption, they drill a hole in the handhold on the tailgate and fit a drop down strap. So if you are sold a car with a hole or bung on the tailgate handle, you know what was fitted….lol..
Booked a test drive in that for Thursday. But it is a gorgeous car. A hybrid, but hey ho…
Good you are on track Mike.
When I sat in the car yesterday, I did feel low down. I thought it may be because the car was in a dip.
But on the way back fro the shops this morning I was behind a Niro, and I was looking over the roof of the car. I thought the Niro was roughly the same size as my 2008.
Until you actually drive it, you never know.
When I test drove the Megane, I thought – yes its low but not bad.
Until I walked back to the 2008 and sat in it…it was a LOT higher than the Megane.
Yes Tommy, you are correct.
@Craig T
‘What’s the waiting times for the Niro Hev Hybrid?’
I dont know Craig, I didnt ask. Maybe someone else will know?
The cars are all veleted as soon as they come in, so it doesnt make any difference.
Some call it valeting others call it decontamination…lol. Its done before anyone can touch it.
I wouldnt worry too much about it.
I personally like to leave things better than I found them. Except this was a new car….not gonna beat that….lol.
Sorry Mike the original post should have read:
‘Now all my comparisons are based on the Pug 2008 car, especially ingress\egress’.
I dont know what happened, but my keyboard is wonky.
I did sit in the Kia Niro, and it didnt feel that high, I was disappointed.
But you will know tomorrow when you have a test drive. I am impressed by the Sportage. With £750 from MB and £250 good condition bonus, we are getting a grand off the current AP prices.
Indeed, I do want an EV, but if its not suitable….I will go Hybrid.
My petrol costs are about £1400\year. But only getting 33mpg from the 2008.
Any Hybrid will get better fuel economy than that….lol.
There is another VW garage a few miles away, I ‘ll go and see if they have an ID.5 to have a look at..
The only way you will know if its for you is test driving the car.
I dont know if Britsh Gas has an EV charge at night tarrif. Thats another constantly
changing minefield, power company tarrifs….lol.
What applies now can change drastically in 6 months time.
Mark, It is a controversial subject, and its becasue people are being forced to change.
People in general, dont like change. Most live in the present and it is how the human mind works.
Nearly all people adapt to change, they may not like it…but they will.
The EV debate is very controversial……but every post, someone learns something new.
Even though it gets heated, nothing is personal, it seems like it as emotions are running high.
You got to thank Gee, the OP, for engaging so many people.
It is NOT personal, it is not an attack on people, but ideas.
See what you done Gee – every man and his dug is commenting on your post…lol.. Good man (or woman).
Nice one!! Its all good.
‘How does the ‘£4.50 a tank’ work for the millions of people who can’t charge from home?’
That is NOT my problem.
But there WILL be a solution……..today is problematic, tomorrow it will be different.
@ Craig T,
‘Oh and just wait till your electric car gets taxed to the hilt to make up for the government losing revenue on new Petrol and diesel cars.’ They will not lose revenue on sales as all new vehicles will be taxed on EV sales, same as ICE cars are taxed.
Or do you mean fuel duty and the like?
Indeed, I did comment on that a few days ago. The Govt is going to lose all that tax revenue from fuel sales and road tax.
They will have to be creative in creating a new tax system to make up for lost revenue. That is well known.
No problem there – someone will have to pay for lost tax in ditching fossil fuels, and it will be every tax payer in the country.
That is a given.
@Craig T
Sorry Craig, but you will have NO choice. There will be NO ICE cars.
In a handful of years you will NOT be able to buy diesel or petrol even if you HAVE an ICE car.
Do you NOT realise that dude? You do NOT have a choice.
What WILL happen is that technology will advance. Today an EV may not work for you….but tomorrow it will.
@Gee,
Your post had very liitle in the way of facts, and you DID ask for comments. ‘What am I missing’.
But when someone did comment, you took umbrage at it. As you said Mike attacked your TOPIC, which he didnt, he commented on my answer.
Then you followed it up, ad hominem and attacked Mike.
Unfortunately, whatever way you word it, you cannot dictate who responds to your post.
Did I miss something about Spain?? You mentioned it, maybe a comment is deleted or edited…who knows.

July 17, 2023 at 10:34 am in reply to: New MG 4 XPower revealed: price, specs and release date #226816Indeed. But like Max speed limits on vehicles. If these high performance vehicles become commonplace, a lot of people will get killed. Then they will be severely restricted by law.
0-60 in 3 – 4 secs is good, but you will just kill yourself faster or worse, someone else.
The roads in the UK are NOT built for that performance.
It is like driving a sports bike, they are extremely fast, but you get more confident the more you use it. Until weather, traffic or road conditions creates the inevitable incident. You dont get to drive fast and safe….doesnt happen.
Good info on here, as others will no doubt be digging out their old tapes.
Good idea to keep the post as is….
