Hi, not new to the forum but cannot recall username or password so have registered again! The forum is as always forever helpful.
Ive just signed up for a Volvo xc40 petrol automatic soft hybrid in Pearl white after a great test drive and excellent service from ‘Ben’ at Crawley showroom. Was a little tempted by the pale blue but it seemed a little too flat for me and I always love white! Felt very informed, valued and happy with our choice. May date given but I’m not banking on that but was assured to contact him anytime for updates. Seamless application accompanied by coffees.
Currently have a Peugeot 3008 and will be happy to wave it goodbye but my other half not as much so! ? - CreatorTopic

Hi, i know its not the same car as the XC40 but i ordered a C40 on 3rd Jan and have just got a call from my dealer today confirming that the car has been built and is on its way. The dealer does not know when the car will arrive, but they know it will be in the next 2/3 weeks. Don’t loose the faith, i nearly did !!!!
May 28, 2024 at 9:44 pm #278583Ordered 1st week December 2023 and my car still ain’t built! Obviously, at this stage, I’ve lost ALL faith in Volvo as a company.
Question – How do you tell a dealer is lying?
Answer – Their lips are moving! 😵💫
** Clarification to my above statement
I don’t necessarily mean dealers lying to your face, I am referring to “lies by omission”. And after countless emails and phone calls I speak with authority on this issue. It’s ALWAYS what they leave out of their replies that tells you. Always!
May 28, 2024 at 10:39 pm #278586Seeing a fair few April orders on xc40 forum being delivered and people getting delivery dates of next few weeks. Assuming retail by the looks of the screenshots

May 29, 2024 at 9:01 am #278598I have raised three formal complaints with Volvo UK Head Office over the past few months and I am yet to receive a response to any of them. It leaves me wondering whether I would be treated in the same way, if I were a private purchase customer? It appears to me, once the majority of Volvo Motability orders are placed, they cannot be traced until they are at or soon to arrive at the Dealerships-which makes me question whether this is common practice for all orders placed with Volvo-or merely Volvo Motability orders? Very early on after placing my order, I requested the VIN number appertaining to such-which was supplied to me. I was of the mind if I were to have such information, my order and subsequent allocated vehicle, could be traced. If I didn’t have the VIN number of “my vehicle,” I could’ve been allocated any vehicle matching my order specifics, at any time. The way in which our orders have been handled and the reasons/excuses we have been given (or not) does not sit well with me at all. On a brighter note, I also have received an email from Mercedes-Benz advising they are returning to the Scheme very soon, so at least this will be another option/choice for some.
May 29, 2024 at 12:54 pm #278615Hi Sunflower12, did they provide you with VIN at the time of ordering ?
May 29, 2024 at 12:55 pm #278616Hi anarchy21, can you post a link please ? Thank you.

May 29, 2024 at 2:30 pm #278619Hi anarchy21, can you post a link please ? Thank you.
I’ve seen some on the Bristol port delay thread and various other sections http://xc40forums.co.uk
some of the Facebook xc40 groups also showing April orders and may delivery. 🤷♂️

Only thing is I think almost all of those are retail orders which are clearly not getting the same level of rubbish service we Motability customers continue to receive. People getting cars within 6 weeks of ordering, I’m currently a week shy of 6 flamin months! ☹️😞
May 29, 2024 at 4:49 pm #278625Hi, yes i think they are retail. Also, why don’t us mobility customers able to have a app like some have to track the car etc. Does seem like they don’t give two hoots to mobility customers.
May 29, 2024 at 5:31 pm #278628@Frank I requested the VIN number about 6 weeks after ordering.
May 29, 2024 at 7:54 pm #278632Thanks Sunflower12
May 30, 2024 at 7:20 am #278640@Frank I requested the VIN number about 6 weeks after ordering.
Hi Sunflower,
I requested my VIN just a few weeks ago and was told as nothing had been assigned/built yet this information wasn’t available
So if your VIN was available this means you had a car built and assigned to you in 6 weeks, and you could track it on the Volvo App, did you track it? (Or your dealer is talking nonsense) and it’s just a random VIN,
Download the app and track it, all the build information will be there of that VIN
Ive added a SS of the app you just add car and enter your VIN.

Hi MissE24,
We do have a app to track them, but only when we have the information to input, (SS above) you need your VIN number off your dealer (when your car has been built and assigned)
Good Luck 🙂
May 30, 2024 at 7:26 am #278642So.. the saga continues 😆
I will post a SS of my latest update from My dealer the other day, my BUILD date has moved again (now 11th June) not the 7th, from order date 2/2/24 (not my 29/12/24) so forget the December order, I’m now going off the Feb order 🥵
Confirmed it will obviously now be the MY25, and will take 3 weeks from build to get here.
May 30, 2024 at 7:35 am #278643@UncJ on speaking to a good friend who works for Merc locally he said they are really hoping to get back on MB for 2025 (September) they are just clearing a back log of orders etc, but they are definitely re-joining 🙂

Thanks for that, bit of a long wait unfortunately. ☹️
If our cars don’t turn up now I don’t know what to say, it’s just ridiculous how long we’ve waited when retail customers are collecting new build cars in under 6 weeks. Frankly, it’s insulting really. If mine gets delayed again I think I’ll just cancel and keep my own car. It would already have been 8 months of my life wasted and I’m not prepared to just carry on in hope. NEVER again! 😡
May 30, 2024 at 8:07 am #278645Fully understand your frustration UncJ, especially being such an early customer along with @nshaw it’s a mighty long time from the first week of December! It seems these early orders have just disappeared into the Abyss! My dealer did say he has a customer from the 1st December still waiting, and orders are arriving ordered months after, there’s just no structure to the whole process! It’s a lottery!
Ive questioned him many times on retail/MB he said it’s just pot luck what they get!
I can’t wait for the customer satisfaction survey!! And I’ll be following the complaints procedure. Probably fall on deaf ears though!! 😒😒
3 out of 40 of us alone having cars is just ridiculous 😤
May 30, 2024 at 8:23 am #278646I’ve just checked and I was given my VIN number 10 weeks after placing my order. However, I wasn’t able to then track each stage of my order on the App-it merely recognised the VIN number, but no further details were visible.

Have you tried recently? Was it Your car due end of May (tomorrow)? 🤞🏽
May 30, 2024 at 8:33 am #278650i ordered my xc40 on the 23rd dec and have been notified that it is at rybrook volvo bolton and i will be collecting 31st may i did check with the volvo app and VIN number and mine is a my24 build. i will be asking when i collect the car for its build date just to satisfy my curiosity i recieved a email on the 22nd april saying the car should be built this month then friday the 17th of may i got a phone call saying the car had arrived at the dealership which to me is extremely fast for a new build car
Good luck on collection tomorrow Jeff 🤞🏽😊
May 30, 2024 at 8:39 am #278652I’m still not seeing any further information from the VIN number. Yes, it was confirmed the vehicle will be delivered by 31st May so hopefully, I’ll hear something soon. I’ll post any updates on here.

May 30, 2024 at 7:58 pm #278699I’ve had confirmation that my vehicle is now at my dealership. All I’ve got to do is liaise with them, to arrange a convenient date/time to collect.

May 30, 2024 at 9:34 pm #278716Thank you very much, @nshaw. As we all know, it’s been a terrible fiasco! Fingers crossed everyone else waiting, won’t have to wait too much longer. Thank you to all for the great support, advice and information shared on this XC40 thread, much appreciated.
