Hi, not new to the forum but cannot recall username or password so have registered again! The forum is as always forever helpful.
Ive just signed up for a Volvo xc40 petrol automatic soft hybrid in Pearl white after a great test drive and excellent service from ‘Ben’ at Crawley showroom. Was a little tempted by the pale blue but it seemed a little too flat for me and I always love white! Felt very informed, valued and happy with our choice. May date given but I’m not banking on that but was assured to contact him anytime for updates. Seamless application accompanied by coffees.
Currently have a Peugeot 3008 and will be happy to wave it goodbye but my other half not as much so! ?

I get low-20s in traffic, early 30s extra-urban and late 30s on a run. Dreadful mpg but then it’s a 2 litre petrol engine delivering just shy of 200bhp and driving a heavy SUV. If MPG is a massive consideration then you don’t want a 2 litre petrol engined SUV.
…but, as I’ve been trying to say, there are 2 litre petrol engined SUVs of similar performance out there that get way better mpg than that (not just the one I had). Volvo are off the pace in this respect, not typical.

In several conversations with BMW (Park Lane), I expressed my concern regarding the fuel efficiency of the vehicle. However, they firmly asserted that 25 miles per gallon is an acceptable figure for city driving. Despite this, I thoroughly enjoy the car and am willing to pay a premium for its premium driving experience and comfort. Consequently, I opted for the XC40, as I believe it offers a similar driving dynamics.
As you mentioned, an electric vehicle (EV) would be the most suitable option for me. However, my current circumstances would make an EV more inconvenient for me. Even if the Volvo achieves an estimated 33 miles per gallon, I would be content with my decision.
