GeorgieI rather enjoy cooking from scratch, but these days I can normally only manage to do so once a week – assuming I’m not either laid up in bed or recovering from being laid up in bed, of course!
When I am able to cook from scratch it does tend to take me all day, because I can only do brief bursts of preparation before having to sit down again for an hour. Luckily I’ve been doing absolutely nowt for five weeks now (last appointment with MS Specialist was over the ‘phone at the end of March), so I’m able to stand in the kitchen for almost three minutes(!) before DH ‘happens’ to wander in to see what I’m up to – I mean ‘offer to help’ – before repeating “Don’t hurt your back. Don’t hurt you back.” like a mantra before disappearing back into the Office.
In the meantime it’s time for a nice mug of coffee . . .

GeorgieNow, some people might think you can’t make Cheese Straws using surplus puff pastry mashed together with grated Mozzarella left over from making pizza at the weekend – but they’d be . . .
pleasantly surprised!
DH verdict: “I wouldn’t call them cheese straws, but I’ll eat them.”
And so we did.

brydoToday I intend to give the roof tiles a second coat, walk over to get my meds and cut the grass.
Remember to get out, if possible, vitamin D is essential to your body and half an hour in the sun gives your body all it needs for a day.
During the lockdown I’ve been giving myself a task to complete each day. The task should be over and above what you normally do. The task can be anything you want it to be like organising a wardrope or chest of drawers or sitting in your wheelchair doing a couple of stretches, whatever is within your physical and mental capabilities.
It gives a sense of achievement and puts a spring in the step, remember to make the task achievable as it defeats the purpose if you feel bad that you can’t do it.
April 22, 2020 at 9:58 am #112074Good advice, Brydo. Today I will be doing more polishing.

ThargWigwam – very pretty pair of Hunter two seaters. Can I have one, please!
April 22, 2020 at 11:03 am #112086I believe XE665 might be for sale at Kemble Airfield, Tharg. Probably missing a few parts though. And then you’d have to get it home…
April 22, 2020 at 11:11 am #112088Do we not have a thread for airplanes?
We certainly dont have one for polishing them lol.

April 22, 2020 at 11:24 am #112090
BrydoNot sure about that.
April 22, 2020 at 11:45 am #112093I trust you’ll share the joy of your painted roof, when it’s done, Brydo. Looking forward to pictures..
April 22, 2020 at 11:48 am #112094
BrydoMaybe wigwam but I wouldn’t want to bore you.
April 22, 2020 at 11:51 am #112095No, no. The depths to which lockdown had driven me knows no bounds.

ThargNever actually polished an aeroplane. However, was once a “rivet bubble-poppers mate; first class” on the RAE Dakota at Farnborough. This was at the Dak’s 50th anniversary and the RAE decided to decorate their aeroplane. A friend of mine did the design. Graphics were made from (incredibly) sticky plastic sheeting which was stuck to fuselage and wings. Only problem was that Dak is covered with many thousands of rivets. Each rivet caused a bubble to form in the plastic. Each bubble had to be burst with scalpel and then smoothed flat or the slipstream would tear the whole lot off. Five of us spent two days at this esoteric pursuit. The Dak looked wonderful (and did not lose any graphics).

BrydoThat’s the first coat completed on my tiles, I have two tiled areas, didn’t get my meds or cut the grass, that’s today’s target.
remember if you can’t get out you may need a vitamin D supplement, have a word with your doctor first of course.

Georgie“remember if you can’t get out you may need a vitamin D supplement, have a word with your doctor first of course.”
Well, I’m trying to, Brydo, I really am. My GP has already reduced my Daily Dose of D3 from 4,000IU (as originally prescribed by my MS Specialist) to 3,200IU (without benefit of a Blood Test, mind you). Then he said I should now buy my D3 from a supermarket or the Internet. I pointed out that taking large doses of D3 is isn’t some self-diagnosed option but a course recommended by my SPECIALIST. He still refused.
I got in touch with my MS Specialist to say I’m being refused D3 on prescription so Specialist writes to GP ‘requesting’ that he put D3 on my repeat prescription list.
GP has now complied with that request – but the bustard is only giving me 800IU Daily!
I rang the Surgery and asked the lovely French Receptionist to query this with my GP. She said she’d write him a note and call me back. Since then – nothing.
So . . .
April 23, 2020 at 12:17 pm #112152If a specialist writes to your GP regarding adding a medication, then the GP should follow his/her instructions. If the dose is too low then back to specialist to write to GP with the does he/she wants you to have.
Don’t take no shite Georgie.

My daughter’s GP for two years denied her specialists advice re her gall bladder, and the problem was only resolved when she presented at A&E and had an immediate operation.
Needless to say she then changed her GP, which previously she had been reluctant to do, despite pleading from the test of the family.

ThargGeorgie – I reckon Wigwam has a serious point. Add your vitamin problem to your GP’s absurd stand on paracetamol and perhaps it really IS time to think about finding a different doc..?
April 23, 2020 at 4:58 pm #112171
GeorgieWell, I suppose I have to give him a few more days. There is only him there 4 days a week. The other one only goes in on Tuesdays to see any ladies that prefer to see a female doctor.
The thing is, I’m in a bit of a bind. I’m just too far south for any of the Farnham Surgeries and too far north for Petersfield. I’m stuck with Bordon. The small Surgery in Headley uses the same two Doctors but in reverse – i.e. she works there 4 days a week and he goes in 1 day a week. There actually was another GP Practice nearer to me, but it closed down in 2016 when the auld fella retired.
Ah, well. Maybe I’ll have to Appeal to my MS Specialist again. I’ve still got a few weeks worth of 3,200IU to go through.
I now refuse to even think about it any more today – the afternoon is altogether too nice for fretting – the patio doors are open, the birds are singing, and it’s time to start preheating the oven for the garlic bread. 😀

ThargWell done, Georgie. Great to give in to the Good Things and banish the Bad Things. Hope you enjoyed the garlic bread. Did much the same here, kitchen windows wide open with blackbirds and the Shed Robin deafening me as I made some Tiramisu for Madam Tharg and me neighbours. Take care…
April 23, 2020 at 7:33 pm #112176Tiramisu, now there’s a thing. My ex who is Italian did a rare tiramisu with rather more than its fair share of Marsala. Any excuse for alcohol seems appropriate in these stressful times…
April 23, 2020 at 7:36 pm #112177That’s amazing wigwam, not the tiramisu, the fact that more than one woman would entertain you lol.

Garlic bread, could eat an entire baguette on my own.
When I think how much I ate, when younger, and didn’t put on a pound, and now I need to starve myself to lose weight.

Brydo, you will be surprised to learn the former Mrs Wigwam and I are still on very good terms, as is she with the present Mrs Wigwam. Works out well for me.
