Got my telescopic window cleaning pole/brush and washed the front windows and gutters, washed the car, the outside glass table and weeded the garden.

Just about to go for a two mile walk and then ……………………. bed for the night lol.

It’s not a “complication”.  Rail Baltica Global Project is already integrating rail services through Poland and the Baltic States (and, by extension, Finland) to match the 4 ft 8 1/2 inch gauge used throughout the rest of the EU.  By the time the tunnel is complete and the trains start to run through it they will be able to run the length and breath of the entire EU.  Goods from Seville could be freighted directly to Helsinki and vice versa.

Meanwhile we’re pushing on with wasting billions destroying the countryside to knock twenty minutes off the trip from London to Manchester for commuters who are probably going to be working from home from now on anyway.

Commiserations Brydo. I did the same job about five years ago. My back recovered in time but my knees have never been the same since, despite using knee pads. I decided to accept there are things I would have taken in my stride years ago which I should no longer tackle.  It hurts to pay others to do work I have the skills and knowledge to do!

Wigwam my knee pads where a god send not sure I could have done it without them.

Couldn’t face tidying up last night so a trip to the tip is high on the list today.

Can’t believe how much rubbish we have collected over the years.

Next on the list is tiling a backsplash, our cooker has been delayed for week/months and is due next week. We have been struggling to pick something we like so I think we will settle for trusty old subway/metro tiles.

Have you considered not having a splashback? We have no wall tiles in the kitchen (or anywhere else in the house). Walls are painted with F&B estate emulsion (other brands are available) and the areas behind the cooker and the sink are showing no effect of being regularly scrubbed after 4 years.

Yes wigwam I have but the wall would need plastering if I went down that route and plastering is not my best skill.

It would be much easier to paint it and I might yet get my plastering gear out, it would certainly save me money.

Today… I went down to me local butchers to collect order. Could not believe the hordes of parents out walking their children. Our village is very “Costa Geriatrica” populated almost exclusively by seniors. I am not exaggerating, there were loads of ’em. Every hundred metres or so, there was a batch spread across the road. Most of the disease-vectors were quite young, about knee-biter size; i.e. I know it’s half-term but these were pre-school. Needless to say that most of them were receiving no supervision and were running across the street, kicking balls into road etc. All of which is just part of today’s roadcraft for the driver: go slower and always assume that they will do the most stupid, most dangerous thing. Is it some sort of “endanger-your-kids-on-the-road” day? Or a last outing before a perceived new lockdown?

Today… spent over six hours on computer and telephone trying to sort out Christmas Crap from supermarkets. Waitrose, Asda and Tesco have all changed their ordering periods/procedures.  All said changes mean I could lose all food deliveries with effect from end of November. All said changes also being incorrectly applied to us since all firms have lost the fact that we are Priority List/Slot/Booking customers. Waited a total of 1.5hrs to get through to phoneline tickboxers with less brains than a Boris. Splattered all over three ordering sites trying to track down ref numbers, email addresses, CEO names etc. Then sending pathetic emails to get stuff sorted. Oh how I LONG for the day when I can just get in me car and go to a shop and buy stuff.

Been there and done that Tharg. Total waste of time. Did not even get a reply from any of them. That was back in the first lock down. What I do now is as soon as shopping is delivered, it’s straight back on line and place a £40 bottle of champaign in the basket. That reserves my slot for the following weeks shop. Just remove the champaign mind lol

Know what you mean, Joss. Trouble is getting the booking for a slot. Both Waitrose and Tesco put up new day-slots at 12 midnight. Deliveries are all fully booked within 30 secs. At present can still get collections. But both are changing their lead times: fewer slots on offer; twice the number of people wanting them. Therefore, according to basic laws of mathematics and economics, fewer people will get slots. The companies, however, say they’re doing this to allow MORE people to get slots! According to basic laws etc… Bo11ox!

Asda just as bad. I have a regular once a week slot for Clinically Vulnerable. Works fine. Asda just cancelled these slots over xmas, again, to help more people get slots. They email me telling me to book one-off slots. Website says no. I despair!
