Brad
Does anyone on the forum use an air fryer? I’ve heard they’re brilliant? There’s some online for £20 – £400. Also read they can save you money?? Before I consider buying one would like some more opinions on anyone who’s got/ used one. Thanks

AnySharp knife sharpener, £8 in Asda 🙂
Please excuse spelling/typos. Apart from being a clot it turns out I had one on my cerebellum that's now causing various problems!
August 25, 2022 at 1:50 pm #195196We have recently just bough a Ninja air fryer. Model is Ninja® Foodi® 4-in-1, 8-qt., 2-Basket Air Fryer with DualZone … It’s the Dogs nuts of air fryers and we are very pleased with our purchase. Food is lovely cooked in them. I can highly recommend this one.
I’ve had the 400 model since it came out as a larger upgrade to the Ninja 300 dual basket. I can highly recommend it.
I often produce tasty snacks for six children in less than fifteen minutes. The results are perfect every time once you get used to it, and it is simple to clean.
August 25, 2022 at 1:51 pm #195197I’ve also got the AnySharp and it’s a very effective and secure sharpener.
August 25, 2022 at 3:46 pm #195203A tip for anyone buying an air fryer or multi cooker. Invest in a salad spinner to dry your chips. I used to use a tea towel, but the spinner is much better. Got one this from Morrisons for £6.50.
August 25, 2022 at 3:50 pm #195206The salad spinner is a good tip …. I’m guilty of using a clean tea towel!
August 25, 2022 at 5:06 pm #195210these are good sharpners for the money imo.. i still overall prefer my whetstone but for a quick sharpen, this is fast and gets it sharp, and is simple to use

Off topic but talking of shillings, I woner how the kids today would cope with an imperial 1/12 system.
I use to wind my son up saying there are 240 pennies in a pund, but he would never have it and though I was daft 🙂
August 25, 2022 at 5:34 pm #195214@Kezo it was a bit of an experiment as there where no guides for cooking times for steak. Turned out ok in the end though.

August 25, 2022 at 7:24 pm #195221with the big original foodi ive done various steaks. fillet is just papped on wire rack with seasoning and a light oiling. a nice pink but not bleedy is about 16mins with one turn. tougher steaks i usually pressure cook for a short time first then finish it with the airfrier. burgers come out well too and take less time. sausages too do well

September 5, 2022 at 7:16 pm #195786i am similar struth induction hob, microwave and table top oven, when that goes i will prob look at a ninja as the oven does the airfry bit on one setting and the chips are excellant. i just dont see the point in changing when they are all working fine.

when my foodi gives up ghost, i will either get another foodi or maybe the top tefal one, as it looks decent, but foodi has been used every day since i got it about 3 years + ago, so may stick with them. its not showing too many signs of breaking down tho at moment, and i do have some extra accessories for it including another bowl.

Last Car: Toyota C-HR Excel Hybrid...4 way 80kg hoistSeptember 5, 2022 at 8:12 pm #195792I’ve just cooked a Chinese takeaway with ingredients from Iceland.
A large “munch box” cost £4. Filo prawns, vegetable spring rolls and Chinese chicken strips in breadcrumbs are the additions costing £5 for the three, then there are just the dressings which were already in the fridge and plenty of sea salt and brown pepper. I’ve fed three adults and six children with just the two basket Ninja, although I will admit I finished the whole dish with a topping of finally chopped mixed peppers and onion in a paella pan in my lovely Neff oven for just 5/6 minutes.
The compliments are raining in about the authenticity of the meal (including the smells, lol) but the best part of this satisfying meal is the price.
Desert is a simple Vanilla ice cream with diced strawberries and a chocolate drizzle.
Job done in a total of 30/40 minutes.
Before anyone says it’s not the healthiest meal, you would be right, but the whole family had a really good Sunday roast yesterday with lots of different vegetables and herb potatoes. My Daughter in law is a fantastic cook and I help out with the sundry dishes.

it can do some things that I’ll never even attempt to use lol
But
absolute game changers for me, got my mum one at crimbo and despite her saying “I’ll never use it” she’s hooked too!
the only time I’ve used my oven in 2 n half years is when my boiler went on the blink last Winter and my house was Baltic so I used the oven to try warm the place up a bit!
if I ever move house Id bin the oven and get some extra drawers fitted in the space
if I had a big family I’d rather have 2 ninjas than 1 oven
if you’re sitting on the fence about buying an air fryer then step off and get yourself one ??
