BradDoes anyone on the forum use an air fryer? I’ve heard they’re brilliant? There’s some online for £20 – £400. Also read they can save you money?? Before I consider buying one would like some more opinions on anyone who’s got/ used one. Thanks

November 25, 2022 at 1:41 pm #201343I’ve got the Ninja AF400, and I use either a pair of silicone liners or silicone baskets depending on what I’m cooking. They are excellent at keeping the metal baskets clean and the baskets can either be turned inside out and washed under the tap or placed in the dishwasher. They can also be used in the main oven or the microwave.
November 25, 2022 at 3:18 pm #201353The Mr Muscle didn’t touch it.
Cheers for the tip POPS, I’ve just ordered a 2 pack of round silicone baskets for £17.99. They did have some cheaper but they were smaller and didn’t have the strap type handles which are useful on the deep pot of the Ninja multi.
December 3, 2022 at 12:56 am #201805It’s amazing how fast the ninja pot and rack gets manky, I just fire it into the dishwasher after every use and still looks it’s as good as new
My friend got a new one last month, she’s too tight to have a dishwasher and her pot and rack is bogin ??. I mean it’s clean but it just looks filthy
I live alone and I’m no whizz in the kitchen but I’ve not used my oven in over 2 years
great things ??

ajnHad a look regarding the bandwidth thing Joss, tbh it’s not registering in the bonce??..
however it’s seems the problem would be more to do at your end rather than mine..
So in future I’ll try to post less pics to save your stress..
sorted..?

BradAnyone used their air fryers to cook anything this Christmas?
December 25, 2022 at 7:11 pm #203466Yes. Roast leg of pork. Not a full leg of course. So succulent and the crackling is out of this world. Its very rare we used the gas oven now days.

As joss points out pork crackling is out of this world when done in the air fryer.

January 19, 2023 at 7:17 am #206639Ovens and air fryers operate similarly. This device utilises less energy than an oven. You’ll also notice that the oven need more time to heat up than an air fryer does. An air fryer just needs three to five minutes, as opposed to an oven, which might take up to ten. However, given that the oven has a far higher capacity than the air fryer, these fluctuations are acceptable.

It’s not really the picture itself, it’s the fact that it’s uploaded to whichmobilitycars servers – using bandwith anytime someone loads that picture. If you want to add pictures without using bandwidth (at least without using wmcs bandwidth) you can upload the picture to imgur or other image hosting sites, and link them here. That way people see the picture, but it doesn’t pull the picture from the wmc server constantly.
On topic: we just bought our first air fryer too – a cheap-ish one, can’t even recall the make currently, since we wanted to see what the fuss is all about. So far, actually loving it. Much better than our oven chips, not quite as good as our deep fryer previously but we got rid of that smelly, dirty thing years ago.

I recently discovered McCain French Fries and Heinz Classic Curry sauce, do them in the air fryer and they are just like McD’s even the curry table sauce is the same!

BradBrydo, how are you finding your Nina so far? Worth the money ?
January 23, 2023 at 11:14 am #207117Hi All 🙂
Anyone have one with a rotisserie and rotating basket? I don’t do a lot of oven cooking, most ready meals are microwaved then crisped up/browned for 5 mins in the halogen oven so 10min (compared to 35-45min in normal oven) while potatoes and carrots etc. are in the pressure cooker for 12 mins .
I would like to be able to do the odd batch of chips, sausages and hash browns better, currently frying pan for sausages and deep fat for chips and hash browns (Tesco’s are the best!!) as in the frying pan they go extremely mushy. I’ve seen infomercials in the USA for a rotating basket fryer doing chips, sausages etc. and it seemed to work well.
One that looks OK is the Daewoo SDA1551 12L capacity and comes with the rotating basket etc.
Please excuse spelling/typos. Apart from being a clot it turns out I had one on my cerebellum that's now causing various problems!
January 23, 2023 at 5:52 pm #207195We have an air fryer with a rotisserie, two actually. We bought one for our caravan and then bought another for home, they don’t have the rotating chip basket though, but I think you can buy one from the Tower web site.
The fryer linked is the Tower 10 in 1 that we have at the caravan, we later bought the 5 in 1 for home, Argos had the 5 in 1 on offer at £77.00 at the time, both machines are the same but the 5 in 1 has fewer accessories, both have the rotisserie but neither have the chip basket, the only thing missing from the 5 in 1 that we use was the rotating kebab skewers but we bought that separate.
The Tower one, at 11 litres, is slightly smaller than the 12 litre Daewoo one you’re suggesting, but as a guide the Tower will do a small chicken, we usually get one 1 to 1.2 kg, chickens that small can be difficult to find, Sainsburys usually have them though.
Buy some butchers string off Amazon and look on Youtube for how to truss a chicken, we stuff the chicken with a sprig of thyme, an onion cut in half, a lemon cut in half and some chopped garlic cloves. We also use a meat thermometer to make sure the chicken is cooked.
Be aware once you have got the chicken in, or the rotating kebab, you won’t fit anything else in.

My car SEAT Ibiza SE Tec 1.2 petrol TSI 2017.January 23, 2023 at 6:10 pm #207196These are the Tower rotating kebab skewers, they share the same spindle as the rotisserie, and I can thoroughly recommend them. Comes as standard with the 10 in 1 but can be bought for the 5 in 1.
This is the chip basket, not got one, it does not come as standard with either fryer, it also appears to be out of stock at Tower, but maybe try eBay.
