Cheers for the advice Dave 👍🏻👍🏻
Current car 2022 Hyundai Kona premium in Jungle green.
I picked up a new car on 27/03/25 and have since discovered 2 fairly big issues.
1. The air conditioning doesn’t work and doesn’t blow any air.
2. Boot let’s in water after a quick hand car wash.
The car is booked in for a service on 08.04.25 but this is already making me nervous about the car. Do I have any right to hand it back and get a different car? Thanks in advance.

February 22, 2023 at 11:21 pm in reply to: The kona electric delivery time thread and general Kona EV discussion #210128So after 8 months and nearly 14,000 miles of ev driving in my Kona premium I’ve just done some maths based on fuel consumption on my old Ioniq based on an average of 167.99p per litre since I got my car last June. I’ve saved nearly ÂŁ1500. I’m generally getting about 3.2m/KwH which consists mainly motorway driving with some city driving mixed in. Although I did a journey today of 64 miles and averaged 3.8 m/KwH. I’m very happy with my car and can’t wait for more of you to get your delivery so you can experience this brilliant car. Happy motoring!!!

January 29, 2023 at 3:05 pm in reply to: The kona electric delivery time thread and general Kona EV discussion #207734@carmad, the heating is only affected in the eco+ setting and it only really makes a difference with the air con on but not the heating in my experience. Also if you have the heated seats they make it easier to regulate heat in the cabin.

January 28, 2023 at 11:07 am in reply to: The kona electric delivery time thread and general Kona EV discussion #207630It also happens if you have smart/auto brake regen on and you get too close to the car in front regardless of if you’re using cc/scc or not. Hope this helps

January 28, 2023 at 11:05 am in reply to: The kona electric delivery time thread and general Kona EV discussion #207629Yes, I got the colour I ordered, white. I must say the car is absolutely amazing, the tech it comes loaded with is just ridiculously good. With active cruise control & automatic lane keeping, on the motorway it practically drives itself! The regenerative braking, when set at 3, really helps maximising the range.
Good news on getting the right colour and glad you are liking the car, unfortunately I just can’t can’t grow to trust the tech, brakes too late and bounces down the lane or hugs the left, which is why I posted, maybe I have a dud. And I forgot to mention the phantom braking, you can be driving down the motorway fine, then all of a sudden it decides it is going to slow down or brake slightly, and I have to press the accelerator to push it along, happened half a dozen times on my trip, that is when I really notice the cruise/SCC cut the most, it just doesn’t gently feed in as I am used to, it is a binary control rather than blended. I think regen is a personal preference, I like to change it for the situation, increasing when in more traffic or busy areas, on fast roads, auto takes care of the regen.
on the topic of phantom braking I’ve driven my car 12,000 miles since June and I’ve figured out what causes it to slow down when on cruise control. Basically if you have the following distance set to the maximum it looks so far ahead that if the car in front in the same lane is doing for instance 60-65mph then it’ll slow down to avoid rear-ending it. It’s actually pretty smart but also annoying, I have my car set to the minimum following distance via the button highlighted below and have almost eliminated phantom braking(although I still get the occasional event caused by me not paying attention)Â

December 28, 2022 at 10:48 am in reply to: The kona electric delivery time thread and general Kona EV discussion #203627So here’s a first look of the new Kona in the flesh, obviously as its in Korea and its not due here until mid 2023 there may be a slight difference in spec. But it’s looking really good for people next year. https://youtu.be/Wo52jl2Vit8

December 20, 2022 at 12:26 pm in reply to: The kona electric delivery time thread and general Kona EV discussion #203055This new model has addressed all of the issues. Bigger car and boot, refreshed interior. Slightly lower range, and a tiny bit slower. Looks a cracking car.
Honestly if it is on the scheme in 2.5 years when I eligible for a new car then I’m hoping the new Kona will still fit my needs.

It’s a great looking car and once again hyundai have knocked it out of the park on the design and also made it bigger too.

December 10, 2022 at 1:39 pm in reply to: The kona electric delivery time thread and general Kona EV discussion #202291Hello all, so like most of you have noticed that the drop in temperature equals a drop in range. I charged overnight via a 7kw charger to 100% and got a prediction of 209 miles. I’m still loving my car and have done just over 10,000 since June. I’m expecting the range to drop under 200 if it gets colder still.Â

That must be incredibly frustrating – sorry if I am guilty of rubbing it in – just like others trying to share experience and knowledge of the car. I have never needed to do this myself – but I have read that waiting until the battery is almost empty ie down to last 2o or less miles and then charging at a slow rate (3 pin plug) is suppose to help recondition battery – at least then you have tried most things and are in a stronger position to complain – however with the shortage of cars I’m not sure what options Motability could offer. Very unfortunate and frustrating.
No you weren’t rubbing it in at all. I was just venting if I’m honest, I’ll try that 3 pin plug tip and see what happens. Apart from the battery issue I’m loving the car and all of its features. If I’m honest all I’d ask them for is a new battery not a new car.

December 2, 2022 at 9:54 pm in reply to: The kona electric delivery time thread and general Kona EV discussion #201801<p style=”text-align: left;”>You are not the only one to say that des and I have no reason to doubt you – but it does make me wonder if there could be a variance in the conditioning of the batteries. The first month of ownership I played with all the toys and got the burning rubber out of my system and then went to the other extreme to max the range – but honestly since then I have just driven the car normally – yes I have it in eco because that still gives enough acceleration for quick getaways for lane changing or entering roundabouts – I use the ventilated and heated seats – auto regen and recently position two on paddle ( as recommended by Struth) and I don’t drive slowly – so I can understand those that have questioned if there is something different about their car.

I think there’s something odd with my car, I’ve tried every possible way of driving and speed of charger and never been able to charge my car above 254 miles in the summer. It has even gone back to a dealer who checked and said it’s within their permitted range of power/battery health but it is on the lower end of what’s “okay”. Charged today to 90% and not only did the car stop charging at that point its now only displaying 204 miles.

November 25, 2022 at 2:42 pm in reply to: The kona electric delivery time thread and general Kona EV discussion #201349Does anyone know what’s likely to happen if we’ve ordered a jungle green kona? Still waiting on mine, but the dealer hasn’t mentioned anything about the change. Will hyundai likely fulfill all orders that had that colour before it was discontinued?
Hi Brent, I ordered my car in January and received it in June and it was pretty quick. Dealer said its a rare colour but but normally got delivered quicker for some reason. It’s a be colour and depending on lighteither looks grey or green.Â

I’ve had to take all the under boot stuff out so that I can use the lower floor and then it just about fits but I have to try and angle it to shut the lid. I’ll get used to it, just a bit annoying.
Yeah that’s what I had to do at first until my wife suggested I take the wheels off ?. I don’t know your budget but this link has quick release pins for sale and also how to measure your current ones to get the best fit. https://www.invictusactive.com/product/quick-release-wheelchair-axel-pins/ I hope this helps.

October 22, 2022 at 10:33 am in reply to: The kona electric delivery time thread and general Kona EV discussion #198764We’ve finally got our car. Picked it up yesterday and love the drive. Boot will take some getting used to as the wheelchair doesn’t quite fit bit otherwise all great!
I think you’re only the third person on here with that colour, it really pops in sunlight great choice. On the wheelchair side of things if possible see if it has quick release wheels and if it does take them off to make your wheelchair fit better, as that’s what I’ve had to do with my identically coloured car. Enjoy it!

July 31, 2022 at 4:16 pm in reply to: The kona electric delivery time thread and general Kona EV discussion #192406So I don’t have the ventilated seats(although I wish I do), yes the 72 was my cruise control speed and, it wasn’t too hot actually as my front windows were down halfway until I hit the motorway. Honestly I love this car and I doubt I’ll ever go back to petrol.

July 30, 2022 at 12:47 pm in reply to: The kona electric delivery time thread and general Kona EV discussion #192254In my boot – still space left on bottom layer at side and half of the foam layer that I will put waterproof in. My question tho is the bag with the cable for away from home chargers is large and can only fit in top layer of boot – has anyone even seen a charger where you need a cable – it would be good to leave it out. Thanks
so, certainly in my local area the slower 22, 11 and 7kw chargers require the cable that came with the car. Its only the rapid chargers I’ve found that don’t need the cars cable.

July 29, 2022 at 11:13 pm in reply to: The kona electric delivery time thread and general Kona EV discussion #192217So to the lucky guys who’ve picked up their new cars a quick question. Have you charged to 100% yet and if you did what range was showing when you unplugged?
Have just charged to 100%, range in Eco shows 313 miles, 298 with air con.
Thanks fwippers, I’ve phoned hyundai and I’m now just waiting for them to get back to me as I think I may have a problem.

Hi Xz130 – I charged it yesterday afternoon using the OHME app – wanted to check out what would work best between that and Bluelink. – when I checked result in the car – 311 in comfort mode – 284 in comfort mode with a/c and ventilated seats on – I didn’t check in eco or eco+
so my car won’t charge past 253 miles and that’s on both AC or DC and fast or slow chargers. I’m waiting to hear back from Hyundai.
