Without commenting on Mike’s description, I would ask how you, Brydo, would describe those who over the past three years have refused to accept the result of the referendum and have done everything they can to overturn the democratic mandate of the UK electorate?
Sometimes I feel sorry for Brydo.. Having to put up with Joanna Cherry spouting nonsense on BBC Scotland
If only it was…
<p style=”text-align: left;”>Answering your point about being insular, Brydo..</p>
What goes on in the whole of the UK concerns me, but what goes on in the Scottish Parliament for the most part doesn’t because I can’t influence it and it’s policies don’t affect me. Unfortunately there is no equivalent English Parliament for me to be interested in following!I respect your view of her POPS and she will continue to work for her constituents as an MP, but politically she is irrelevant south of the border.
News for Brydo. Ruth Davidson is about to resign. No-one outside Scotland could care less..
I rather think Cameron did us all a favour. Now the public have woken up to how the Establishment works in its own interests, not the people’s. The chaos is in politics – the nation carries on regardless.
Notably absent from the Remain Alliance publicity round was Corbyn himself. Far too toxic to be included.
Interesting take on this in the New Statesman:
Hard to see what effective response there can be. Proroguing parliament and starting a new session with Queens Speech, setting out policies etc is normal process. The timing is very clever.
Proven liars and self-serving narcissists, POPS? Hard to think of any political leader present or past that description couldn’t be applied to.
Suits me very well too, as it happens. Which doesnt mean I side with Trump, before anyone suggests it.
The massed unemployed youth of southern Europe might not agree with you about the “greater good”..
I lot of what goes on from here will be more about saving face of the protagonists than what’s best for the citizens of the UK or the remaining member countries of the EU.
I would like to think in case of leaving without a trade agreement, we’ll keep all the money. There’s no legal claim on the UK. It’s not as if they’ve been nice about it…
I’m doing my bit. I don’t buy anything French or Irish. I’m sure their economies are suffering the loss already…
Having just returned from a few days in Cornwall, still without visiting a petrol station, it occured to me how much more sociable it could be if charging stations were installed in pub and restaurant car parks…
I drove to Cornwall from Bournemouth yesterday. I didn’t make sure the tank was full or take hay for the horse, because I was driving a very efficient petrol engined car and I didn’t stop for fuel or to rest the horse on the way. After all this is not 1919 or 1819. What’s the point of electric cars – someone please tell me? Is it to save the planet? Or to create new industrial wealth?
- Movement of component parts of motor vehicles are tariff free, Brydo. Notable that as the tariff on Japanese cars reduced (admittedly by not much so far) there was no downward shift in retail prices. So not likely rise either.

The latest outpouring of nonsense about how the ports will cease to work and we will be short of imports is bizarre. Both Calais and Dover have said they are ready for smooth working after October 31, whilst other Belgian and Dutch ports are applying competitive pressure as they would love to take more of the business. Calais/Dover have to deal with VAT, Excise and currency changes whilst we are in the EU so adding a few tariffs if some are needed does not create some new problem we haven’t already solved for other taxes. HMRC have said they don’t want to hold imported goods up with lots of new checks. But I like it here, and it’s where the ammunition is stored.
That’ll be because they like the fake news and the constant remainer bias…
You actually listen to the BBC’s rambling?
And in other news the government has today repealed the European Communities Act so EU law will no longer apply to the UK after 31st October.
You may have read it here Bandit. See the post above yours!
