It annoys me that the politicians all just pander to the public outcry, motability is not the issue, how they assess is (if its actually a problem, I’m not sure it is) not that we’ve had a luxury brand, but what will have us to move from the scheme is the extra AP as we already pay above what we need to get a car that suits, and the reduction in mileage allowance, as we already need more than 60k.
At this point we will likely be better leasing privately, with wider choice, and longer terms to offset the increase in price.
The fact that a citroen is £8k is obscene
Thanks guys, never heard of that app, but will give it a go.
5 year leases as an option would be good, even if they limited those given the option to those paying above a certain AP.
I like the thought of a 5 year lease, however, I tend to get bored of a car after a couple of years, so its not something Id envisage wanting to taking up.
December 10, 2024 at 12:26 pm in reply to: Disabled Person – Too Ill to visit delearship – Any Options? #294789So, in summary, you do not need to be running two cars unless you want to. It’s a shame that so many people misunderstand this as there must be an awful lot of people incurring substantial and completely unnecessary additional costs. A Motability car on its own is costly enough!
TBH, its the abuse some give when they know you are driving the car too, as they clearly dont know whats allowed, I spent ages making sure that I would be able to drive myself, as the wife is mostly house bound / bed bound.
I would add, on this, some dealers will visit, some will allow you to collect on behalf of partner if they are unable to due to health reasons at pickup time. Its not strictly within the rules I dont think, so its definitely an ask and see kind of situation.
Its a shame really, as covid showed what was possible but seems motability removed the option for a video call etc which would have made many peoples new car experience a lot less stressful.
The matte shadow isnt free, unless your dealer essentially discounted it for you.
pick ours up on Saturday, cant wait 🙂
I think they’ve gone about it a bit haphazardly, the the targets would have been fine if they’d made proper provision for charging infrastructure including those with no access to off street parking. as it stands, they will have to make changes to their big ‘plan’
That said I want my EV already, stupid delivery times 🙂
November 18, 2024 at 1:10 pm in reply to: How much would I save Electric vs Petrol? My petrol figures below #293506Worth checking you can move to an EV electric tariff with cheap overnight electric. Our proximity (8 miles) to the early warning radar station at RAF Fylingdales means our smart meter can’t communicate with the electric company so we are stuck on the single day rate. Even then at 22p/Kwh it’s still cheaper than petrol, and will probably be even better when petrol prices go up in the budget at the end of the month. I’ve heard this is also an issue for people that live up to 30 miles away from the radar base, and others elsewhere in the uk that are close to military bases have the same problem.

You should absolutely be able to get one that communicates.
If they’d have called it Mondeo instead then it would have been a much better fit.
definitely much harder justifying an EV if you can only use public chargers.
I can’t work out whether it’s worth switching back to agile from IOG, I have solar/battery/phev (scenic on order) I’m not sure it’s below the 7p often enough to offset the times it’s lowest rate is above it.
is there a website that gives historical prices that goes quite far back?
I’m unsure what you mean by charge you for the charger, as you’ve said you can only use public charging?
what’s stopping you from having a top up charge on the way back?
it’s not motability that claims the mileage it’s the manufacturer
If they accept an early termination then you’ll be liable for a fee, but you will get your AP back pro rata
Probably about £475
I’m on 70k with 2 months left, scenic won’t be ready in time and was advised that it isn’t pro rata, it essentially classes as extended lease, this ties in with last car that was over mileage.
Friends were over 60k and didn’t get charged and they handed over dead on 3 years, and our first car was returned early and pro rata would have meant we got charged.
in conclusion, I’ve decided it’s completely random and I’ll expect to be charged and hope I won’t 🙂
We’ve ordered the scenic esprit alpine in matte grey with the adjustable floor so that we can put the wheelchair in.
we have concerns the wheelchair won’t fit, as the test vehicle didn’t have the floor and was hard to get an exact measurement, but loved the car so worst case we’ll probably look for different wheelchair, tho finding one that does tilt and recline and has a smaller height than our pride fusion ain’t going to be easy.
Strangely, not remotely, as its the actual load opening thats the issue, and without the flat floor its almost impossible to measure accurately, and it is such a tight thing. ridc hasnt got it on their lists yet
We may have an issue with the people hoist too now, not sure it will be able to be fitted, the dealer has rang the adaptions people, but I wont know until Saturday when he is back in.
Wife currently has a Pride Fusion tilt and recline wheelchair, and we can’t find one that offers both those and in a smaller footprint 🙁
At this point, we are both feeling a bit flat, as we both actually loved the car, and really didnt want to start looking all over again 🙁
Ordered this today, end of dec delivery time advised. Was given a couple hours test drive and was impressed. Wife loves it, the issue we have now is that we aren’t sure the wheelchair will actually fit! if it will, it will be extremely tight, but they don’t have one with the level floor so we can properly test. wife is inclined to get it anyway and buy a slightly smaller wheelchair that folds and reclines if it doesn’t fit.
Will this help 🙂 https://www.renault.co.uk/electric-vehicles/scenic/dimensions.html

September 11, 2024 at 10:28 am in reply to: Help / advice with renewing lease – wait or not to wait for new AP list? #288330Only risk it if you think you will be able to source the additional money if the price doesnt go down. It would be soul destroying to have to cancel because you cant get the money together.
September 11, 2024 at 8:30 am in reply to: Ford Patents System for In-Vehicle Advertisements #288321Another reason not to buy Ford 🙂
Does anyone drive in silence? I always have either a book playing, or music if I’m with someone anyway, so Id hope that I wouldn’t get interrupted by adverts. I subscribe to everything at a tier to avoid ads, and pause live TV so I can skip through them, so my tolerance for them is non existent lol.
No, I absolutely appreciate it, it’s finding those dealers that adhere to the spirit of the rules rather than enforcing I think.
ill ring a few dealers and see if they’d accept a video call I think 🙂
No, well yes, but only by becoming the wife’s appointee through DWP which means I essentially become the claimant for any benefits she gets, and it gets paid to me, and I become motabilities customer.
thats extreme and I’d rather not have to do that just for the sake of her needing to order a car face to face when they’ve already proved it’s possible to do remotely
oh well never mind 🙂
That is good to know @shawry. Something I don’t have – yet!
we were a bit worried tbh, as despite never having used it in anger, the re-assurance that its there is more than worth the cost. So the fact we didnt have to get rid of it (we werent going to miss out on FTTP) was a huge relief 🙂
we have lifeline, and that uses phoneline, it works fine with the digital line we now have.
So I’ll be ordering either the Scenic Alpine or the Enyaq 85x soon, then hoping that the Ioniq 5 returns at a reasonable AP, or the top spec Scenic reduces its cost a lot.
They are the 3 models I cant see past, though theres so much choice I cant see the wood for the trees, my only must have is that its a full EV really.
Yeah, I’m the opposite in that I definitely want a BEV as linked with the solar and battery, and most of my return journeys being less than 250 miles I will be able to save an absolute fortune on my 70k miles over the 3 years!
just need to choose one now lol
@glos guy
what tariff are you on? Assume it’s not an ev type tariff as those elec prices seem high, though obviously it’s little less of an issue on a PHEV rather than a BEV
