      Hiya,

I have a 2023 Ford Torneo WAV.  Day one it was delivered to me after 3 months at the adapters, the infotainment screen went blank.  It’s had constant infotainment screen glitches since, such as not coming back on after a short stop/distance.

There are mostly no manual control buttons so you can’t change temperature/air-con/see fuel/speedo/parking sensors etc don’t work.

I would not recommend.  As I write I am waiting for breakdown people to look at electrics, yesterday it couldn’t decide how much diesel I had, as well as going blank

        Hi kezo,

Ford did a software update 3000 miles ago/Nov when it was in for an oil change a service.  I’ve had 3 months with no problems, now it has started again.  As I say, everything literally stops working, except thankfully the cruise control.  I’ve never known such poor basic technical efficiency in a vehicle before.

Sorry you are going through this….so much for ‘worry free motoring’…

I’ve had a number of issues with my Ford, if I can, I hope next time I’ll get a different manufacturer to fix my motorised ramp to.

I hadn’t realise it took ‘all day’ for Ford to get permission to do an oil service on my vehicle 6 months in to it’s use, so work was done later the next day, which made it difficult for me to drop off and collect.  I will have to do taxi next time.

Your post will help me to be doubly wary in future and ensure I keep myself totally out of any ‘work to be done’.

            Hi blue,

My personal experience has been that over a decade ago, the Gov wrote a letter to me of many pages advising me I would be moved from DLA to PIP sometime….I’m still waiting.

In the meantime, I’m aware of many people applying for PIP and Enhanced Care rate higher than my Middle DLA.  I know why the Gov doesn’t want to ‘move’ me on to PIP is because they will have to give me Enhanced PIP and give me more money than currently.

As well as not moving legacy DLA people who likely would go straight in to Enhanced Care rate and therefore cost more money, they are giving PIP awards for shorter terms, and starting the re-assessing process as soon as they can.  A lot of people in the PIP system being repeatedly seen, rather than the whole point of it over a decade ago, DLA to PIP.

By my calculations, I’ve missed out on about £10k worth extra care payments.

It’s tempting to try to move to PIP, but they are such, well, liars, distort facts, etc, even I think they would suddenly claim having paralysis, falling over, etc, is not really a problem for me after all.

              Hi johebr,

I’ve been fortunate enough to get a grant.  As far as I remember, if you are on a low income benefits, like Universal Credit and low savings, start the process by calling them before choosing car, as clearly grants are awarded on need rather than what you wish for.

I think it’s complicated if you try to ‘add’ money on top for something better/you want.  At the end of the day, it’s a grant.  I got a WAV with adaptions, and the new car bonus came to me after delivery.

I did have to talk to several people about my application, as staff changed, and added complication, my WAV wasn’t ordered in time for the 6 month grant award, so I had to have that exteneded.  I had several low points due to hiccups in the process, so be prepared it may take more time than simply paying AP yourself.

The overall process took almost 18 months for me to get to delivery, so I was glad I hadn’t got rid of my old private car, and maybe just difficult for WAVs rather than cars.

              Good luck!

Right, I think just call Motability, they always seem really nice to me.

Went out in one with a Tesla guy the other month – we’ve decided to visit showrooms on days out – just to see what it was like.  BORING….lol

Felt like being in a carpeted lift as there is virtually nothing inside.   I was surprised at the low start price but the extras for connectivity and safety all adds up.

I see lots when I’m up and down the M4 and concluded they’re bought as status symbol, oooh look, I have a Tesla…

Hi, did you look at the Motability website itself under ‘Your drivers’?

Personally I can’t see a reason why a non driver is unable to nominate another person on PIP to drive the vehicle as long as they fit the age category, have a licence, etc.

                        Hi Steven5,

18 months ago I talked a friend in to getting a motability car as soon as he got his much fought for PIP.  I said, what have you got to lose?  You didn’t have the money before, so you won’t miss it.  And instead of a 2010 card, you get a brand new one, especially automatic, with eveything paid for.  Being also hybrid, he’d save on fuel, probably getting back his advance payment, along with new car bonus.

It took me one evening to talk him in to it, and then he was just so excited!

He based his colour choice on the availabilty, so ended up with just a 3 week wait.

Another person I knew, just took what was at the dealership, so virtually no wait.

My WAV took 9 months build schedule, then 3 months adapting schedule.

Yes, Coffee 1 in Cwmbran bags the used grounds and leave them out for anyone to take away for free too

I don’t often go to coffee shops so haven’t noticed if everyone does it.

I’m probably a bit late with this but I’ve been using a transfer plate for over a year now.  Originally I was going to have a ‘step’ that came out but apparently the vehicle clearance wasn’t enough.

Once I get used to ensuring I’ve put the plate up before shutting door, all good.  Mine is on a WAV and definately made a positive difference for me.

Even when I shut door forgetting to put up the plate, it bounces without problems off the door but I don’t have fancy door interior so no damage is done.  It’s easy enough to remove and put back if need to.

Obviously cheaper for Motability on adaption costs compared to motorised seat, etc,

Hi Jojoe, thanks for the welcome!

A quick search about coffee come up with things like this:

“Coffee grounds are rich in nutrients, especially nitrogen. They also have some amount of other nutrients like potassium and phosphorous. Overall, this means that adding coffee grounds to your garden can work fairly well as a fertiliser. Coffee should be spread in a thin layer, rather than being clumped in one place.”

As mine is very diluted, after a good amount of rain showers I will use a watering can of it to replace goodness that has lost.  I rarely do neat coffee grounds but some suggest as slug repellant but not guaranteed.  I found the copper tape rubbish.

I was listening to Gardeners Question Time some months back and one of the experts recommended food shop coriander seeds too as you get 1000’s in a jar compared to packet.

I have a lot of herbs:  English Mace, Marjoram, Coriander, Parsley, varied Mint, Sages Bayleaf, Tarragon, Rosemary, Thyme, etc

But don’t really do cooking so I’m a bit rubbish at the need to crop to produce more system.

Hi, I’m new to the Forum:

I have most of my garden in pots, mostly as I can’t do digging, and moving the pots around means if a plant doesn’t like where it is, or lost interest, something else can easily go there.

The plants are watered with coffee, from used coffee bags and grounds that get soaked in large tubs of rain collected water.

A friend suggested wooden raised boxes/beds but smaller plastic pots makes everything more flexible and less compost, though I’ve been making it myself for a number of years, so no more shop bought, since Wilko closed down, as I liked the compact blocks for easier carry and storage, then expands in water.

Wilko was great value for gardening items.  Some products now found in The Range but not the great price.
