For clarification the intention of my post was to help people who may believe as I used to, that you were safe at 10% + 2mph you’re really not

I fully understand what the topic of the thread is about and chose, as is my right not to add to it. If a real moderator not a wannabe one wants to point out the error of my ways to me they can do.
August 29, 2021 at 7:17 pm in reply to: MANDATORY Speed Limiters & Onboard Spy box to be fitted to vehicles from Summer #163103Also be aware that it also depends on the accuracy of your cars speedo, for instance the car I got caught speeding in was my Audi Q3 speedo was absolutely spot on accurate, my current car a BMW 2 series the speedo is 2mph slower at 30mph, if yours is 2mph faster becareful?

“There’s no legal requirement for the usual 10% +2mph “curtesy” we get.”
This is also a misnomer, that is the speed at which most Speed camera tolerances are set at.
If you’re caught by a radar set up in a van for instance, they will prosecute at that speed (see table below)
Below from Carbuyer site and my own experience ? (got speed awareness course for a brief 79 in a 70?)
When would you be offered a speed awareness course?
If you have been caught speeding, you will receive a letter informing you of the consequences. In many cases, you will be able to choose from three options: paying the fine and taking the points, going to court to settle it, or taking a speed awareness course with a slightly reduced fine and no penalty points. You will be able to enroll on a speed awareness course if it is your first speeding offence or if you haven’t been caught in the past three years. You’re only eligible for a speed awareness course if the police offer it to you as a choice. On top of that, there are set speeds that qualify for a speed awareness course, so if you were speeding by more than these amounts, you won’t be given the option. The amount by which you can break the speed limit and still be eligible to take a speed awareness course is between 10% of the speed limit plus 2mph, to 10% of the limit plus 9mph.
30mph limit: speeding between 35mph and 42mph
40mph limit: speeding between 46mph and 53mph
50mph limit: speeding between 57mph and 64mph
60mph limit: speeding between 68mph and 75mph
70mph limit: speeding between 79mph and 86mphCall RSA they will add them.
You need to be with the person you are adding so that they can speak to them and must have their driving license with them
I was unable to edit my previous post …….but wished to add.
Tbh I’m still amazed at how I was able to even consider ordering such a car, as my current vehicle is a 7 seat BMW with a hoist and scooter in the back, and 18 months ago I was looking into getting a WAV as my next vehicle.
What changed everything for me was lockdown, my wife started working from home, the last of my children fled the nest.Meaning we could follow our dream of moving to the seaside thus negating the main reason I carried a fairly large scooter around as we now live at the place we mostly travelled to.
So instead of spending a lot of money on an AP like I usually do, I bought a large off road scooter which I keep in the garage and a mega light folding scooter the size of a carry on suitcase for the car.
Our new bungalow has a roof full of solar panels too which sparked my interest in a EV hopefully I can recoup the costs some of my previous AP’s with fuel savings.
I’m sure I will bfoandc, I knew as soon as I sat in it at the dealers I would order it, it’s amazing how spacious and comfortable it felt for a small car.
thanks everyone again for the info -cheers Ian i was wondering about the tethered bit tbh ? – i’m a bit nervous nowabout the BP install – just got the text from MB asking questions about usage and why we wanted and EV -filled that in but reading comments re BP pulse i think i might ask for the podpoint install instead – anyone had it go smoothly with BP? ??
I chose the tethered too, thanks to those on here who posted the benefits of tethered.
You and me both about being a bit nervous about what happens next with bp pulse ?
Good luck with yours BillyBob and if you get anywhere with getting a pod point charger, please let me know?
I too was wondering if or how many had it go smoothly with bp pulse fitting a charger.Good luck to you too bfoandc I chose the colour of my Kona because I loved the colour of your one that you posted a while ago.
For anyone interested clicking on the bottom link in the bp pulse text takes you here…

I ordered a Hyundai Kona EV in Surfy Blue last week it was approved by Motability on Tuesday.
I was told by the dealer ordering an EV with Motability automatically generates a response from Motability about an home charger.
I got this text from Motability Wednesday morning ….Basically some questions about your home / driveway ownership etc.
Then I got a text from bp pulse on Friday evening ……
This is an in depth questionnaire where you have to prove your order for an EV and upload photos of the paperwork.
Choose tethered or untethered charger
Also pics of your meter / fuse/ consumer unit boards / isolators etc. and location / distance in relationship to where you want the charger fitting.
Also pics of your driveway showing your house
(I tried quite hard to no avail to get the pod point one but Motability were having non of it. Saying they only do pod point for certain vehicles all french from what I recall.
Motability did say they are aware of all the negative reviews and that higher management were in discussions with bp pulse to get their act together)
I am currently waiting for bp pulse to get back to me re a home survey.
August 15, 2021 at 1:14 pm in reply to: Think motability should open up to new secondhand cars due to chip shortage #161956Motability already do this with Nearly New WAV’s I know the original lease on them is 5 years, but surely it wouldn’t be a big stretch to do something similar with returned cars.
Pretty sure I got my copy from the RAC when I needed it for a clean air permit in France
seems they might have changed it now see link
If the glass isn’t broke, then gaffer tape or similar will usually hold it securely enough in place.
Until you get enough time to save up for the excess.
Worked for me for several months on a Renault Scenic I once had.
Just wrapped the tape around the stem bracket

Well worth checking if you can do what you need to do online, I know a lot can’t but if you can it’s definitely the way to go.
Try it this way
A few more insurers mention here also how some insurers do indeed try to use adaptations as an excuse.
Link temporarily removed by me because it took you to the wrong page
I would speak to RSA Insurance 0300 037 3737 and explain the situation as you have done above.
They have ways of getting through to DVLA that we don’t.Good luck Adrian
I think your thread title IS the answer you seek.
Cancel your order and reorder the car you want I also doubt very much that you will lose your deposit, or that your dealer will make a big fuss about it.
So glad that I got my Hyundai Kona Ultimate last month (from stock too) AP has doubled and keep hearing about these nightmare waiting times. Guess it was right time, right place for my first car.
Congratulations Ian enjoy your first car ?
