I’m surprised there’s not a threat up yet.  Wednesday sees the final new quarter for this year, what are we hoping for? New cars or improved pricing.

I’ll start with the ever popular IM5 and 6

Our Limit for an AP was always around £1000 -£1500, above that we are in buying used and keeping 5 years territory. Can’t see us being on the scheme if the AP’s are that high in 2 years.

I can imagine the conversation at the fast charger between a private lease and a motability customer who both are driving an Ioniq 6 that they got last month. One pays £330 a month with £1500 down and the other put £4k down and pays over £400 a month, one had to pay for a home charger and insurance, the other does not.

Given that Motability benefit from 20% VAT exemption on the purchase and will also get massive discounts due to their bulk buying power, neither of which a private customer benefits from, I’m surprised that the prices are as close as that. I would expect the gap to be significantly more.

Very disappointed. The four cars that were on my list have ether been removed or have a massive increase in AP.

My order window opens on the 19th October so technically I can wait until Q1 next year but its not certain what will happen with APs or suitable cars, so it’s  a big decision stay or leave the scheme.

I’ve been limiting myself to EVs only but I’ve just noticed the BMW Xdrive 25e plug in hybrid as been included. AP still expensive but a lot better than some EVs . I had the old X1 2.0 diesel for four years and I enjoyed it and didn’t want to change.

Anybody know what the battery range is ? BMW reckon about 50.

just back from a couple of hours out checking the new shortlist lol the back and knees are killing me. oromorph to the rescue lol.

basically i think the decision is effectively made now, the chr i would love to have but it is jst awkward getting in and out, fair play to toyota chesterfield they went out of their way to power p the car as its all electric seats and their showroom is in the middle of a rebuild. but even with all the adjustments it was still awkward and on a bad day it wont work such a shame as the cockpit is fantastic.

nissan had both the exact models in tekna and tekna + and as i know the in/out is fine the new stuff is jst a bonus so now its a case of hoping the ap,s stay the same or lower for next quarter. the qq very nice but i just dont need that much room etc. the only thing i think that would change now is if the austral techno alpine came down to similsr price and i cant see that. so fingers crossed nissan keeps the ap down.

Im afraid that I can’t answer your question about the real world EV range, but just in case you weren’t aware the new model X1 has a 3 cylinder 1.5 litre engine and not the brilliant 4 cylinder 2.0 units that we both had in our previous generation X1’s. To get a 2.0 engine you now need the ‘23’ designated models, which are unfortunately not on Motability.

Great. They brought back the BMW series 2. Waited so long, i ran out of lease for it. Just have to see how we get along, with the i6. The size is doing me in, not had a chance this two weeks to do any driving.

1.5l 3 pot mated to 14.2kW net battery, AWD (electric motor on rear axle) WLTP c52 miles, but bearing in mind the battery really isn’t much larger than the Tucson’s 13.8kW WLTP 43 miles.

Perhaps, most alarming, is the loss of the i drive controller on anything under 3 series!

Well that’s the Enyaq blown out the water then! Jeez what a hike. With a 1500 ap limit it’s currently looking between the Ariya and e-Vitara (which is an interesting addition and I’ve always been partial to the Vitara). Or maybe I’ll have to forego the intent to get something with better RW range than the e-C4 and stick in the same 50kW/h 160mile (achievable) ballpark, which in fairness hasn’t been a huge issue to date, I was just hoping for something higher and easier to get me and the toddler g’kid in and out of, a bit more luggage space and another 50m achievable range. Be interesting to see if any come down quite swiftly, changes over the first few weeks of a quarter do seem to be quite usual.

Same here, £1400 increase on 85x and the maxx pack removed so about £6 instead of £3500, nice.

EV6 removed too although it was pricey.

Only leaves Ioniq 5 from my shortlist and not sure if boot is big enough 🤔

Some extreme AP rises that do not make sense.

Probably some of these prices are placeholders for the interim.

As always at new quarter time it takes a couple of weeks before the prices are finalised and cars added to the scheme.

Give it a couple of weeks, be positive people!!

I know I might be a bit of a Ford fanboy but if I was changing today I would have my 3rd Kuga, only this time the 2.5 FHEV @ £2295. That’s not as painful as some. Big plus for me is 2100 kg towing capacity for the caravan.

There may be a few additions, but the prices will not change until 2026, they are finalized for this Q.

and I get about 34 miles out of the Tucson, on a good day in the summer with the wind behind me 😂

God loves an optimist – although I don’t ever recall a past period where there have been substantial downward movements in APs a few weeks after the new quarter!

My understanding the 14.2kW net battery size is the usable size, our Suzuki Across has a 18.1kW battery 14.3kW usable, if that is the case 55 EV miles seems achievable.

Thankfully I’ve a year before it’s really a worry.  The biggest increase from 3 months ago was the Explorer Premium 77kWh with DAP which jumped from £2,245 in July to a whopping £6,795 that’s £4,550 increase.  The only bit of good news is the Ioniq 6 Ultimate which dropped £500 to £2,999.

The interesting addition is the Suzuki E-Vitara, which doesn’t match up with any Toyota, which is odd given the Vitara and RAV4 are very closely related.  Is this a preview of the new electric Rav4?

You might be right, as it has an electric motor on rear axle for AWD, like the Across/Rav4, which will be lighter than the conventional AWD setup on da Tucson. The other thing that needs to be taken in consideration, is Toyota have perfected hybrids 🙂

The downside according to Fleet news long term test they achieved only 30mpg as a hybrid with a depleted battery.

I just cannot believe the AP being asking for run of the mill EV’s i.e Renault 4 and 5 etc these are not expensive vehicles especially as Mobility is VAT exempt, surely there must be better private lease deals out there.

The only bit of good news is the Ioniq 6 Ultimate which dropped £500 to £2,999.

The Ioniq 6 Ultimate increased by £1250. The Ultimate was £1750, and was discounted through dealerships even further – people got them as low as £750, which is why it was the best deal on the scheme last quarter (and i’m very certain about that since we took delivery of ours 3 weeks ago lol).

I genuinely do believe that £3000 is exactly where it needs to be, that’s a fair price for the amount of car you get – but, yeah. It was £1750, not £3500.

edit: okay “where it needs to be” reads odd. It’s fair, that was the point i was trying to make – not underpriced and not overpriced (hey ho Renault). Cheaper of course is always better, but i can see myself spending £3k on the I6, i physically can’t consume enough alcohol to even humour the thought of the R4/R5.

Well was ready to sign on the dotted line for an explorer (waiting conformation if a hoist could be fitted or not)only to be told it had been pulled from the scheme the day before, fast forward a a couple of weeks and its back on with a massive AP jump, Enyaq was another possibility but the AP on that has gone through the roof.

Very little choice for sensible money if you require a hoist friendly vehicle, automatic that can be fitted with a flip accelerator pedal.

Extended the lease and will keep looking.

prices do look rather fruity but I think there are some gems in there still. Ive treated myself with my first motability car with all of its extras but I genuinely am interested in the fiat grande panda now and likely will get something like that if my PIP renewal is successful but I have another approx 18 months to go. That means that today’s prices are irrelevant. I was hopeful they will bring back the scheme but am now thinking of taking the risk and letting the car return to motability and I find it for sale somewhere… I think the car I am in now has depreciated more than 20k in 18 months looking at the price they are going for on auto trader. Motability is set to make a loss on my car for sure!!

anyones thoughts on the tiggo 8 potentially being added seems like a perfect car for the scheme
