As others have said, you need to view the car, ensuring nothing is missing from what you ordered before handing over any payment!

Thanks – this is exactly want I asked for, and this was skirted around, and the response was, “if you want your car adapted, then you need to pay upfront and in full; otherwise, we cant get your car taxed and adapted”.

But how can I pay upfront and in full if I am being told certain things I ordered (at extra cost) are not available but the invoice still shows them as part of the overall payment… makes no sense

If I was asked to pay in advance, I’d want to see the car, with acceptance that I can’t drive away until the cash has cleared. So I’d go in and inspect the car, transfer payment and then go home all excited for whenever we’d arranged to come back and collect the car. What I’d not do is pay without being absolutely certain that the car is exactly what and when I want. If I had any doubt then they can wait until those doubts are resolved and if there’s any issues and they’re trying to force me to pay then the last word would be ‘off’.

Agreed – I got an email to say that 2 things I ordered as part of the original order are on not available and had I of paid then I would have been charged for this and not received it on the day of pickup – keep asking them to provide me a full breakdown of what I ordered vs what I will receive but do not seem to get a straightforward response, other than I need to pay before I collect.

How can I trust what I am paying for is actually what I ordered as there seems to be new communication every other day to say things are missing from the order.  It is starting to frustrate me in all honesty!

It may be that for you to pay on the day you may need to collect on a week day, as the back room finance people who can access the bank account may not be working weekends. It is not unreasonable for the dealership to be sure funds have been transferred, it is also not unreasonable for you to be absolutely happy with the car before paying any of your money. There’s mid ground in there somewhere, you may need to chat with the dealership in order to find it.

Thanks – I am open to a middle ground but the funny thing is that they wanted me to pay on Monday but are still unsure when I would collect the car.  Additionally, there has been some discrepancy on what has been provided on the invoice vs what was advertised on their website – I would like that resolved before paying.  However, advice given to me was to pay and then the difference would be refunded.

I would most definitely not pay the AP before you have inspected the car. I can make BACS payments from my phone, but debit card payments will still be immediate, or very quick. Most dealers probably won’t accept credit cards.

It varies. When I collected my last card I had to pay by bank tranfser and the dealer needed to check that the funds were in their bank before I could collect, As it happens there was an issue with the car so I would be very relectant to do that again. I placed an order today and this dealer confirmed that I can pay be debit card or bank transfer.

@EK One reason maybe that card transaction fee’s are taken into consideration? Read more on this here. On the other hand,BACS payments are usually free, or very low cost. For payments within the UK, the costs vary depending on the type of payment. BACS payments are usually quite slow, but free or only a few pennies to process.

Thaanks all, so I assume it is reasonable for me to say that I will only do BACS once I see the car and am satisfied it is as I ordered it

Hi ordered x trail n connect e power in campaign. beginning of August told delivery would be in January but still no date. Would this be right, regards mal

From my experience with Nissan, it sounds about right – I ordered Jan 2023 (qashqai) with delivery for summer – was pushed back 3x and no one bothered to say anything, instead I had to chase.

Dealers blame Nissan for the lack of information provided to them, in order to update the customer, and Nissan say that dealers could do more to communicate with the customers.

This has been my first experience, and it has left a real sour taste in my mouth, especially as I have been the one to liaise with Nissan GB and the dealership.

I have some good news to share, I haven’t seen any topics on this before. If you are a renewing customer you can order a new car with less than 12 months remaining. This policy was changed on 02/10/23. I can’t see anything on the website but someone told me they heard on facebook group. I rang Motability and they confirmed this. If you order by end of this year you get a new car payment £750 which can be put towards the advance payment. Also your lease will automatically be renewed when you ordered new car. I don’t know if its the same with the grants teams as I need to call them tomorrow as they closed at the moment. Grants team said you need 12 months remaining to apply for grants but that was last month before this change in policy. I will update this after I spoke to grants team. Hopefully this will ease the anxiety for a few people. I was having anxiety as I thought I would be left without a car as my PIP not renewed yet. I have still not received my PIP renewal form 2 months after they said they sent it. Called them multiple times to tell them I’ve not received the form etc. Had a text from PIP saying they will continue paying my PIP until they review it.

Sorry for sounding stupid but is that less than 12months of PIP or lease ?

I ordered a QQ back in January 2023 and still waiting. with no clear delivery date, I am tempted to cancel and order something else but I have less than 12 months PIP left and the review won’t be until sometime next year!

Fitting a dashcam to a Motability Scheme car?
If you are a Motability Scheme customer and are considering fitting a dashcam to your Scheme car, here is what you need to know:

The dashcam must be plug-in type and not hard-wired into the vehicle
It must be attached in such a way as to not cause damage to the vehicle (e.g. fixed by suckers and not permanently attached to the dashboard)
Any associated costs must be covered by you (including the purchase of the dashcam and any fitting/removal costs)

I would assume going by the general rules that you cannot order now that you are under 12 months of PIP but would be best to speak to Motability directly.

I have been waiting 10 months for my car, and asked if I could cancel and order something else but they said no I cannot as my PIP is now under 12 months.

Just back from EMG with the bosses brand spanking shiny new Nissan ePower in a quite fetching blue. Dealer called during the week and said that it came in out of the blue. The wife is over the moon with it but sad to see her Mitsubishi Outlander go as she really liked it.

Nice!! Hope you and the Mrs enjoy! still waiting on mine and told will be at least another 2-3 months haha

Nissan Qashqai E-Power Tekna is back on the scheme.  Price increased from £3199 (Q1) to £3749 (Q3).  It was taken off the scheme during Q2.

we ordered our tekna epower )no options) in ceramic grey in the first week of march. we were told june del. but this was changed to mid sept. due to electronic parts shortages. we are picking it up on thursday 14 th sept. at wigan nissan. we have never been in touch with them since the original order.

Ah, nice one! Hope you enjoy it! Not a bad turnaround time, all things considering!

Not much out there in the dealerships 15 n connecta & 1 Tekna, so it is clearly a bad time to get a QQ e Power. My last comment is – ‘It really is worth waiting for’! Good luck

Tbh I have no option but to wait, only 10 months left on pip so can’t put in a new application until reassessed for pip, which I’d assume is sometime next year.

Also, legs surgically fused and don’t bend and this was the only car I found to be suitable for legroom with once push/pull leaver fitted.

Current car over 5 years and no way I can extend for another year unfortunately.

I really don’t know the rules over ‘vehicles ordered, but no longer on the scheme’, but it seems good business sense to me , to sell a car and realise the profit earlier rather than later in the financial cycle- bird in the September hand, rather than the February Bush- and therefore, if there are stock vehicles ‘out there’ at the dealerships, which fit the bill, why not utilise them? But, what do I know?

Was just told that delay is linked to Nissan GB pulling orders to verify they are real as some dealerships place bogus orders to increase their own stock, which creates a bottleneck.

Supposedly, all orders need to go through this verification but I am surprised that my bespoke order was not verified months ago.

It is extremely frustrating, even annoying, that it takes so long sometimes for a new car to be delivered , but I have found that flexibility on our part, especially with regard to colour, and also not insisting on nice to have but completely unnecessary kit, can really can make a difference! Most new cars come with loads of kit on board anyway, much more than I had when working and driving 45000 miles a year? I am used to having se/ Lux Volvo XC’s with loads of kit on board, some of which was just of novelty value? What I really miss from the Tiguan which had a 38 week long order time, but I took what I could get it in 10 days, ( and never regretted it ) was the sun roof which I could have had , in another colour, and the electric tailgate. It is a choice we make, and even though I miss some kit ,I weigh this up against what I have got in place and in my case the QQ ePower n con , without a wait, ,covers my expectations!

Completely agree, Mike, and in this case, I had asked how adding Bose / choosing the colour of the car would impact delivery time.  I was told that it would be a negligible waiting difference as the supply chain got better and churned out cars faster.

But the only telling sign was when they removed the Tekna trim off Motability, and mentioned it was due supply chain issues, and this was a few months after I had already ordered.

Hi, ordered epower qashqai Teckna on 5th May 2023 was told delivery for early September. Called into the dealer last week for an update and was told its due into their showroom on 17th November 2023, dealer showed me a printout from nissan confirming all deliveries with due dates for qashqai models to the dealer. I also asked the dealer about several reported problems as detailed on the Nissan Qashqai forum he states that he knows nothing about the reported problems especially with critical power failures.

Hopefully, you get it in November, if not sooner!

Wish companies would just provide realistic dates or at least communicate clearly with the dealership as to why there is a delay at the factory, allowing the dealership then to provide meaningful info to the customer,

Not sure! Have you contacted Nissan UK with internal order number, dealer should give it, if you ask. or have you looked on Qashqai forums to see if there is a way.

yes I called Nissan UK and they said that “unfortunately we cannot help as this is a direct order with the dealership so they will be the only people to answer”. Hhaha frustrating!

I find that rather weird to be honest and do wonder if your getting fobbed off! I mean all orders will have to go through Nissan UK, regardless of whether Motability pay for their cars. Hyundai for example I needed the “1011” code (internal order #), contacted Hyundai UK on social media with this number, 48hrs later I receive a reoly stating what stage my car was at and delivery week expected at docks!

it is starting to feel like I am being fobbed off.

don’t even know why the showroom cannot give more info, all they say is that the dates change and they cant be sure when I will get it until it is actually dispatched for delivery.

is there any way to see if the car is due to be built on a specific date or are we at the mercy of fate?
