Hi Newfi and Craig
Yes that Danish ad is looking good for the 1.5 TSi but a bit nerving looking at the spec for the Highline (can’t remember off hand where the highline sits in the trim stakes but thought its at least SE) where it says “Parking Sensors”, “Does not exist” and hope that’s a local market delete and not part of My19 or its just a Google Translate thing.
About the looks of the Touran against other models I think replacing the lights with LED’s would bring it into the 21st century but the manufacturers look upon LED’s as a cash cow extra because they’ve got to be cheaper to produce and puts less load on the engine. It was the same for the Golf SV but they have now updated that one too basic LED’s and it really does make it standout.
Hi Craig
I would say a fake because the ‘Active Info Display’ is not even an option on the Touran AFAIK and what is that big lump where the gear shift should be?
I’ve gone for “Indium Grey” this time around.
My first Motability car was a Silver Grey (can’t remember the name of it) and was great for not showing up the dirt, second car was “Black” and a disaster for showing up the dirt and current car is “Caribbean Blue” and is OK dirt wise but never as good as my first car so I’m hoping the Indium Grey is like my first car dirt wise.?
Hi Newfi
I have seen that before now and at the beginning of July I asked a dealer about possibility of ordering a Touran SEL and they said they had room for 2 orders of that model that month so I assume this has or had something to do with that statement from VW.
Then I had my hiccup’s with Motability and DVLA but I hope my order still went in in July because a sales guy was chasing me up the last days of July (assuming to get his orders in for the month) while I was on holiday so I sorted the problem from my holiday villa on the costa de West Bay, Dorset and say thank God for cheap and inclusive calls on my mobile.
August 27, 2018 at 10:05 am in reply to: Petrol and diesel cars to be banned from East London roads, #59327Well if the folk of east London want to vote in the communist then they have to put up with the communist way of life and do what their told.
Talk about biting the hand that feeds you. When local revenue drops because no one can go about their work we can only hope the government cuts off their gravy train of revenue and not expect other parts of the city or country to pay their way.
As far as “1,000’s of deaths” are concerned there is no proof that these folk are dying of pollution effects, although no doubt a small amount are, but just a week or so ago there was some guy in this seventies complain to the media that diesel fumes were killing him and stood there with an oxygen mask on but went on to tells the viewers how he had been a heavy smoker all of his life.
We need to clean up the air its true but through technology that’s affordable for all and available and not by Kremlin type dictatorship.
Hi Newfie
Thanks for that link too the new price list booklet for the Touran and having a look at the specification between the SEL and the R-Line I read in that the “Security and Service” is only for the R-Line My19 model not the SEL ?
Have you heard that it for the SEL as well from a different source as these booklets are often wrong.
Hi Newfi
Going by that statement it’s looking good for the 1.5 TSi because as we know there are no Touran SEL 1.4 in stock or I would be driving one now so there all factory orders.
Got my fingers crossed anyway.
I will try and get my order number soon for tracking but got a couple of months to go before I start marinetraffic.com to see what’s crossing the North Sea. LoL
Hi guy’s
My thinking on the MDF plus and seeing it’s being added to the S and SE it has to be the colour screen because I think the SEL and R has already got that.
Not a big deal though because what I’ve seen of the colour screen in pictures it just shows things like if a door is not shut properly then the door shows as red.
I could be wrong and may be the car is getting a full proper colour screen.
Going back to delivery dates If you go through the online chat for build dates do they just give you a general date or do they take your name and dealer for a more accurate date?
Hi Newfi
If your date is right then I might be lucky and get mine the end of November.
The AP I had £350 off and used that saving to add Keyless Entry to the car, I have it in my Golf and found it very handy, pardon the pun, because I can only use one hand.
Long story but I should have ordered my car Q3 last year and the AP was £1,699 or was it £1,799, I can’t remember but I was expecting to pay at least that amount but luck was on my side and Q3 this year the AP dropped to £999 so I used the saving for me there to add the Winter Pack and Heated Windscreen so I feel I’m getting Keyless, Winter Pack and Heated Windscreen for free.
Sorry Newfi I missed your post about my build date but the answer is I haven’t a clue?
I’ve had so much trouble getting Motability to sort out my eligibility for a car then so say problems with my driving license and again just trying to get the order for my adaptions on to the order because the dealer overlooked it when I signed for the car so up to now delivery date is at the back of my mind, or at least was.
Signing day it was estimated to be the end of November but with the hiccup I’ve had that might have slipped into December.
I will ask for a tracking number soon to get a rough ideal of when delivery might be.
BTW order day was the 4th of July.
Thanks Newfi, will have a look at that later.
I think with the “seat belts not fastened” it an audio sound only or a mistake in the configurator so may be it’s where I’m getting confused.
I just has a quick look at the configurator for the Touran to see if any thing has changed there and just this minute noticed that where it says “Remote central locking with SAFELOCK” it has a line through it as if to say it’s been deleted, not that I even know what SAFELOCK is. LoL
Hi Newfi
As you know I’m very interested in the ins and out’s of the My19 Touran but wonder if you know what is meant by “security and service”?
With the passenger presence thing is this just a change of where you see the warning as in my Golf its an independent red icon where by the sound of this it flashes up on the MDF. One other thing passenger presence is shown for front and middle row seat in the SEL so I assume this hasn’t changed.
I think the MPG figures are going to be like that for everyone.
They used to say using the old system that the MPG published by the manufactures is about two thirds of the lab tests so for example, if they say it’s 60 MPG in real life it will be closer to being 40 MPG so it would be interesting to see if that old myth turns out to be correct.
Pretty much the same story all round for Motability customers and although the ones I’ve dealt with have been very friendly, the old saying of “speaking to a brick wall” comes to mind.
I always ask to be communicated via e-mail and the main reason for this is because both sides have written proof of what’s been said and agreed with no come backs on either side and no chance of misunderstandings. The other reason is it simply gives the receiver of the e-mail plenty of time to consider their answer and if the answer is up to date and correct.
As I said, I might just as well speak to a brick-wall.
My 61 plate Motability Seat Leon had paint defects but did not start to show until the car went in for it’s first service and at that time the Seat was service at year one but I don’t think they do it now.
A month or so after that service I noticed a faded white hand print in the black paintwork on the side of the roof just before the hatch door. I assumed it was someone from the paint-shop who had under-coat paint on their hands and called round to have a chat with his mate the mechanic who was servicing the car at the time.
A few month go by and other white hand marks started to show around the door entrances and the wheel arches and this is when I realises the car had faulty paintwork.
By now the car was getting towards two years old and I had that feeling too about being lucky it isn’t my car and when the car went in for it’s MOT a month before hand back I was surprised no one at the Seat dealership picked up on the state of the paint-work but then knowing its a manufacturer fault they wouldn’t would they but as long as I got my good condition bonus I was muted and glad to see the back of that car though I add the car had no problem’s at all mechanically or performance wise.
All the time I was aware of this problem I started to eye up other Leon’s of the same age but never seen another until about a month or two before hand back I seen a silver 61 plate Leon that had the same white marks in it’s paintwork.
One other problem I would have had sorted had it been my car and that was badly fitted carpets that started to come away from the door fixing and seem to be a fault of the carpets being cut a few mm shorter that they should have been.
Apart from that I’ve had two Golf’s, the first was returned after three years in a condition as if it just came out of the showroom and was very impressed with the quality of that 58 plate Golf and my current Golf that’s under my ownership and is now almost four years old has very few faults but one it does have is a slight mark on the offside front wing that shows a tiny circle that I can only assume was made by one of the robots that held the panel in place while the car was assembled at the factory and the finishing layer of paint has worn over four years of washing and cleaning but that said the rest of the car is still in showroom condition so wont hold VW for one very tiny blemish, oh that is apart from a 3 mm rubber grommet drain plug that has deteriorated and fallen out at the bottom of the hatchdoor.
Hi Debs
I don’t have an answer for the savings limit but my guess it would be along the same lines as the DWP set and that, I think, is £16,000 for a couple or half that for a single person but saying that these things seem to change with the wind so needs to be checked.
August 19, 2018 at 2:38 pm in reply to: Audi Q2 automatic cannot even place the order according #58865Hi Carol
Sometimes the dealers simply get it wrong, they did when I ordered a car in July however that said Trev the moderator posted up in the week a link that said Motability car ordering service is off line this weekend so that may be the problem.
If you go to the dealer again tomorrow everything should be OK.
I drove diesel Motability cars for 6 years and never used the gloves at the pumps because one of my two disabilities is having only one hand to use, I’ve got two hands but only one of them wants to lift a finger to help. LoL
Generally I always found the pumps to be kept clean, in supermarket outlets anyway and rarely had the smell of diesel on my hands after filling but when it did smell, yes, it stinks.
As it seems some forum members are starting to get delivery dates for the next month or two so I assume that this list will fill out over the next few weeks or all those cars will be sent back from once they came.
Surprised to see VW adding the Up this week as I would have thought it was more important for them to get all the models under the Golf and Tiguan range through first, but then I think that maybe the manufactures don’t have a say what models are tested first or last.
August 17, 2018 at 10:19 am in reply to: Which? tests show almost 80% of diesels exceed emissions limits #58715I’ve never been a big fan of “Which” or their testing because they put their results behind a paywall and all this proves is maybe the tester’s, whoever they may be, had a lot of lead in their right boot.
I wonder if they use the same testers that do the tumble dryer’s, washing machines, coffee makers, etc.
Having spent an hour tolling over the C-Max brochure the bad news for me is the C-Max does not have an electronic hand-brake and associated auto-hold so is probably why I ruled it out in the first place but with the passing of time I’ve forgot all about that and I’ve also got doubts about the engine too being under powered.
Come the first of September sales for these manufactures are going to fall off a cliff edge come that date, or will we see this list suddenly fill out in the next fortnight ?
I see VW are on the ball with a whooping great big 4 cars through.
I’ve got a VW Touran on order for end of November delivery but I’ve seen others on here who order a month or more before me have now been given a date of January and seeing that VW are sat on their idle backsides I’m thinking very seriously of cancelling my order and going for a Ford C-Max Grand that has passed the test so I assume with no problems on delivery.
Anyone got a C-Max Grand on order and been given a reliable delivery date?
I did not mind the wait considering everyone was more or less in the same boat but now it turns out that some of us are in rowing boats while others are in speed boats.
August 15, 2018 at 10:11 am in reply to: Social housing proposals 'to give tenants greater power' #58566Just to add what mitch said above and how about 5 years ago I had a letter along with the rest of the neighbourhood from the local council asking if we had any objection to the building of 30 affordable houses over the back from us.
No objection, houses go up except, it’s more like 50 to 30 house but still no problem as everyone is fine with that.
A couple of years go by and you just wouldn’t believe those houses were only 5 years old with the mistreatment they’ve been given by tenants who think the World owes them a living, don’t worry about recycling bins, just chuck it in the street.
Unfortunately in among those tenants there are those that do care, I know I was once one of them, but government, local and national need to make sure these, don’t give a Monkeys folk get reprimanded for their actions.
Sadly I would say “yes” you do pay the VAT on any accessories you add to the car and why I say that is because most disabled drivers have to drive with cars that have automatic gearboxes simply because of their disability however unfortunately the taxman looks at it being something that makes the car easier to drive for ALL drivers, disabled or otherwise so VAT applies.
Same goes for heated seats, auto lights, auto wipers, auto hand-brake etc and all the other wonderful things that make cars easier to drive for everyone.
Best bet in your case as Garys above suggested is contact Motability and plead with them how much you need this accessory and see what they say.
I think that maybe half of those who post just post to see if anyone have information on a particular problem they may have and then there are those like me who originally got drawn here by information going around about discounts on AP’s and was looking for a new Motability car.
I’ve passed all that now and could just retire and become a read only member but if I see something that I can add to I will jump in.
Interesting to see a few names here I’ve seen before over on “.youreable.com” site and the motoring section on that site has become quieter since this site was mentioned over there, in fact, I think it’s where I became aware of this wonderful site.
