Is the fuel payment request normal?

Hi

First post, so hello to all

I have just ordered my first car, and whilst signing the forms the other day the Motability person at the dealership said something I wasn’t expecting.

He said it is their policy, the day before collection, for me to….

1: Pay £30 by card so they can put the same amount of fuel in (how do I know)

2: Give them my PIN so they can sort all the necessary paperwork out so it’s a quick handover the next day (say’s online that you have to check the vehicle first on collection)

I may be new to this but it doesn’t seem right, any thoughts please.
