This will require updating very soon. I postd a thread with the news below, but Admin didnt like it.
But these incumbent losers in Westminster will do what they did in 2012 and hit the poorest the hardest.
Half a million set to lose out when DWP scraps ‘fit for work’ test, figures show
As I said, watch this space.
The incumbent morons have been on the back foot for years, and they will get annihilated in the next election.
For that reason, they will have to do something drastic, and it WILL NOT be pushing ICE dates back.
As I said they will get annihilated in the HOC on their green policies and can ONLY bring the ban on ICE vehicles forward, to be seen to be doing SOMETHING.
As in the OP the stop oil protesters will go all out this summer to cause more mayhem.
Betting is for losers as we all know. But to suggest ICE ban will move back? Nope. It will be the exact opposite.
Nothing like a natural disaster to focus govt minds, THAT is a game changer. NOT wishful thinking.
As for the next few months, I will come back and resurrect this thread…..That is going to be really funny.
Just give it a few months and see where the Govt and EU stance is on ICE. The drumbeat is rolling.
It is not just an opinion, The press coverage of European devastation is NOT an opinion but FACT.
If you think they are going to extend the removal iof ICE vehicles, you are burying your head in the sand.
It doesnt matter which desperate google tosh about climate change you copy and paste. The fires UK record Temps will define what the Govt does.
They WILL bring phasing out of ICE forward. Already current hybrids ALL fail the 50% EV rule and are ineffect useless. The rules for Hybrids by 2030 MUST be EV for 50% of the time.
This will re-focus Govt thinking across Europe.
Notably my other post on DWP cutting disability payments by 400\month is the other way of cutting back on Tory finances. They are bringing that chestnut in AFTER the next election. Wishy washy Sunak will be dusting off Boris’s ICE ban manifesto as he cant think of anything better. He will just amend Boris document. He has no choice he will be crudified in HOC.
Again the failed policies of Cameron\Osborne being played out as before.

July 27, 2023 at 1:41 am in reply to: Cargo Ships That Have Caught Fire Carrying Electric Cars #228190Its not just cargo ships that go on fire, but peoples houses due to climate change and extreme 40Deg C heat in the UK…Then there is the 2,500 excess deaths….
Also, the GCB varies, it is usually a lot more than present. But do get 3 written quotes from reputable garages.
Your landlord will have to make good on the accident.
July 26, 2023 at 10:54 pm in reply to: Cargo Ships That Have Caught Fire Carrying Electric Cars #228172New battery technology is already here!
These battery fires will be a thing of the past when the new CATL batteries gets into production later this year..
It is emergent technology, and these lithium battery packs wont be around for very long.
Lol, give it a couple of months and see where the climate debate goes from here.
For sure the wildfires will affect Govt’s policies across Europe. The green parties will gain traction and voters after this Summer of fire. But whatever the EU decides, the UK will follow.
As I’ve said before, it is a one way street, there is no going back…..
Daaammmm what are you guys smokin…lol ??
It is going to be interesting to see what happens in the aftermath of the wildfires.
I reckon it will shake up the EU Govenments quite a lot.
Also, the UK Govt, the incumbants are dithering again, its going to be really funny over the next few months.
July 26, 2023 at 6:27 pm in reply to: Thomas on the latest (Volvo) Zeekr 001 soon to hit Europe and hopefully the UK. #228119Volvo do not own Zeekr. Zeekr is owned by Geely, who also owns Volvo group etc.
Yup you are correct- I picked that up wrong…lol.
Interestingly, all manufacturers must fit loud bongs when you exceed the speed limit…hee hee!
Of course Thomas had to check it is working correctly.
Of cours Admin – quite right =- this went waaaaaay off topic. delete ae necessary..good man!
All wishful thinking and putting up links to an auomotive magazine is hardly a balanced view.
You seem to think that the phasing out of ICE is going to be delayed or deferred 2030 – 2035,
You are wrong, it is going to be brought forward.
This year 2023 is hte first year of a full degree increase in average global climate Temps sine the 1970’s. The trend is ANOTHER degree increase by 2030. IT is THAT fast.
The removal of ICE will be brought forward for ONE reason.
The Furious temperatures seen in North America and Southern Europe these past 3 weeks. It is not over yet and this will re-focus the minds of the EU members and thus the UK to cutting emissions. Europe is essentially burning.
Give it a few weeks and see what stance the Govt’s take regarding ICE and renewable energy.
You think they are going to extend the date for removal od ICE vehicles? No, they will make 2030 the END of ICE, completely.
Not just new veicles but ALL vehicles.
Just watch what happens in the UK in the next few weeks. The fires in Greece will fire up these stupid ‘Just stop oil’ thugs.
It is like a call to arms for them…expect them to be very very active in the next few weeks…
Any Sportage sized vehicle on petrol is going to be at best low 30’s.
If you go full Hybrid that is where your petrol mpg goes up, by a mile.
Look at Mikes, and others fuel economy in the QQ Hybrid. They are getting 50mpg easily and more, real World not manufacturers nonsense.
If you can average 50mpg on a big vehicle like that – you are approaching Diesel fuel consumption figures.
The Yaris Cross, many reviewers have managed brillaint fuel consumption figures, but its a Toyota and a bit lacking in tech and goodies. Toyota tends to be a bit spartan…who knows with the new CHR and Prius though…
@chrispembs
‘what about punctures and stuff though or if the tyre is totally dead and sludge will not work what happens then?’
You call out the RAC as it is a breakdown. Who will take the tyre to Kwikfit….lol.
What happens if your nearest Kwik Fit is 60 (ish) miles away? Is there an alternative? Would my main dealer take care of tyres?
The dealership is not allowed to fit tyres. They couldnt fit them to my car as they identified they were close to replacement during its service. I did take it to KwilFit and they replaced 3 tyres – Continentals….good tyres.
That left one Michelin which had a puncture a few weeks later and was replaced.
The Michelins lasted 13K miles from new.
But Kwik Fit you have to arrange a booking, it’s usually in a couple of days, they are so busy. Luckily there is a MacDees across the road….lol.

This is how scammers identify vulnerable people.
It is like fishing for a shortlist of potential victims.
If it was possible to get money back – Martin whatshisname on moneysupermarket would be all over it.
In the US its a thing…..not here.
Am guessing visiting a dealer a week before the end of the month, they are keen to get you to sign before the month ends…lol.
Click on these sites and they will clear out your bank account.
Do you think you will get free money?? Rly??
Ah that is a surprise, I didnt expect that!
Maybe try the Hyundai Kona when they have the New model in the dealers? Same platform but different shape, maybe not noisy?
I tried the Honda HR-V last week. It is a gorgeous car, well specced, but the road noise was awful. I dont know if its the tyres, but even turning up the music didnt help it….
As I’ve said, I was rouind the houses road testing different cars, and the ID.5 blew every car away with its
smooooth drive and ride height. Its a boring car, but it just works….
Out of interest @wmcforum, currently we have 740 vehicles on the scheme. What was the vehicle count in July 2019 before the pandemic turned the World upside down? Thx..
July 24th 2019 1948 Vehicles Avaialble 807 of which are automatic gearbox 407 Nil AP or less ( 74 Automatics) ( 20 Electric vehicles, 7 Plugin Hybrid, 47 Hybrid, 1198 Petrol, 676 Diesel)
Jeezo…Thx Admin, That is quite a lot….lol.
It just shows the impact Covid had on vehicle manufacturing and Motability. Around 2000 vehicles….lol, that is crazy.
Indeed. I am the same, my mileage is pottering back and forward to the shops. The car knows its own way there and back.
I call my current car, Covid…it is a child of the covid era.
Thats the best thing about Motability, anything wrong they dealership fixes it.
Always a gamble with a new model arriving, they do have teething problems.
But with EV’s they can fix most issues with an over the air update.
You are gonna have a big smile across your face when you get your car dude.
I loved the Megane test drive, but the seating was a bit low for me. Otherwise it would have been my
choice. It is a gorgeous motor.
But you will be grinning and laughing when the motor arrives.
Quite often, when a new model or variant is being brought out, they will dump the old model on Motability for a short time to clear out old vehicles they cannot sell.
You are usually at the mercy of whatever stock vehicles they have on their hands.
But dont hold your breath waiting on something that may not happen.
