Hi, not new to the forum but cannot recall username or password so have registered again! The forum is as always forever helpful.
Ive just signed up for a Volvo xc40 petrol automatic soft hybrid in Pearl white after a great test drive and excellent service from ‘Ben’ at Crawley showroom. Was a little tempted by the pale blue but it seemed a little too flat for me and I always love white! Felt very informed, valued and happy with our choice. May date given but I’m not banking on that but was assured to contact him anytime for updates. Seamless application accompanied by coffees.
Currently have a Peugeot 3008 and will be happy to wave it goodbye but my other half not as much so! ? - CreatorTopic

I’m so pleased for you and totally amazed when car orders placed January and February still appear to be on the ‘being made’ list, including mine. Where in the country are you please? Some areas seem to have had better availability than others, maybe down to transporters or some other reason? But then again, that wouldn’t count for the build dates we are being given. I’m so thankful we have our car to use whilst waiting but I hate bad customer service and never expected it from Volvo.
I’m in Gloucestershire same as nshaw. I don’t know what went on really, so many things said at the time as you know by customers, dealers, forums about the reasons for delays and I don’t think we’ll ever know the true answers. But .. these were the earliest orders and MY24 cars, all the cars coming through are now MY25’s so clearly for whatever reasons our ordered cars were never built to begin with. It stinks!
@nshaw thanks, really hope your car comes soon! Ordered my car from Sytner Mercedes-Benz in Bristol instead of Gloucester as I’d already had a great experience with them 5 years ago with my last MB GLA there. And if anything the service this time was even better, they’ve definitely had training for Motability customers I’d say as everyone from reception staff to the salesman were absolutely brilliant and (unlike Volvo!!) kept their word on every single thing they said and have gone overboard in their service to me. Even had a phone call from dealer the next day asking me if I was happy with the car and were there any issues they could help with. It’s all been a bit overwhelming I must say. lol 😆👍👍
June 22, 2024 at 11:06 am #282699Just got told that one MY24 XC40 ordered on 5th January can be picked up next Tuesday, 1th June. Not sure if it is MY24 or 25.
Got information on another XC40, exact same dealership (Edinburgh) – ordered 5 days later on 10th January. “Car Build date is the 13/06/2024 and the planned dealer delivery date is the 26/04/2024. Once the car arrives i will give you a call to organize a hand over date.” A telephone call corrected the delivery date to 26/6/24
So, first car ordered on 5th January delivered and picked up on 11th June. Second car ordered from same dealership on 10th January still for build today (13/6/24) and delivery 26/6/24.
The second Car ordered (10th Jan) had its build date on 13/6/24 and arrived yesterday at the dealership, 5 days early. I’m picking it up on Tuesday.
Unfortunately, after a lot checking back through the Motability and Volvo orders, it seems the salesman ordered a Fjord Blue version when I said I wanted a Cloud Blue version. I’m a bit gutted because the two colours Volvo have and I really don’t like are Fjord Blue and the Green they have.
I’m just going to accept the car as I presume it will be a new order if I don’t.
When I placed the order I received no paperwork at all. If they had given me a copy of the order with the specs, I would have noticed it immediately and had it changed.

Hmmm. Seems to be an outlier. Orders for January and February are only now being built.

June 24, 2024 at 5:24 pm #282902Re-order date 2/2/24
Build date 11/6/24
@nshaw any news for you yet? As we had a similar build date. 🚙
@UncJ I’m very sorry all this has taken its toll on you and you’ve been unwell, please enjoy your new ride! Post pics when you feel well enough let us see your new wheels 😍Steph x
June 24, 2024 at 6:12 pm #282912At least you have an end in sight Steph. Congrats

June 25, 2024 at 7:58 am #282936Mostly been lurking in this thread but for us:
Order – mid Dec 2023 (told unlikely to get any build dates until after Xmas but told delivery likely to be May at earliest)
Build date – late May 2024 (only confirmed early May 2024, no useful communication from dealer between order date and May)
Confirmed in-country mid June but no date for delivery to dealer at this point.
The end is obviously in sight but it does seem like there’s still huge variation between everyone’s journeys.

Hi MrsL83 😀
Great to hear your car is nearly here!
I’ve asked today and received a screen shot of info!! Looks like build moved to 18th from the 14th 🤷♀️ but delivery could be 28th June instead 9th July and it says ‘arrived importer’ so I presume that’s Bristol dock maybe! Also has the VIN number so I logged onto the Volvo app.
Hoping to be getting closer here too and the other good news is the upgraded seat cost of £750 has been dropped as now standard feature 🤩 So very pleased at that!
Waiting for a phonecall now!!Karen
June 25, 2024 at 6:34 pm #283002I’ve just received an update on my order. Apparently it should arrive with the dealer within in a week or two.
June 25, 2024 at 6:46 pm #283003Also received screenshot from vista system with planned build date on 27/06 and planned dealer delivery 19/07. Not sure, if that for granted… No VIN number yet.
June 26, 2024 at 9:50 am #283043Hi, Did the vin number work? I’ve asked for mine as my car is now in the UK and been told it won’t work until I have the car? If it worked what did it show you please?

Hi Ellyr5 I signed up to a few weeks ago but couldn’t do anything. Yesterday with the VIN number it took me to trying to search for the car with Bluetooth but that was it, as I needed the car! It did show me the right colour car though!
June 26, 2024 at 12:04 pm #283054Ah okay thank you. Glad you have the right colour car!! Hope I do too after all this time!
June 26, 2024 at 12:17 pm #283057Took delivery of my XC40 yesterday (ordered 10th Jan 2024).
Car that was delivered was wrong colour.
Was told the previous day by my salesman that if I refused the car it would be a new order and I would have to pay the upgraded AP. Unfortunately, the salesman obviously wasn’t aware of the Consumer Rights Act 2015, so was wrong.
The reason I accepted it was that I didn’t want a 4-6 month wait which the salesman told me was the current position.
The handover was excellent. My salesman was on holiday and another stood in. It was one of the best handovers I have ever had. Detailed, everything explained and all questions answered clearly.
I got the Fjord Blue but ordered the Cloud Blue. My opinion is the the Fjord Blue and the Green are the ugliest colours. Many disagree with me.
I will be making a formal complaint to Volvo.
June 26, 2024 at 2:36 pm #283078Finally got a build date; build date is 20th July. Car ordered 5th January. Dealer said he’s not expecting it until the end of August.
June 26, 2024 at 4:06 pm #283103How are you getting on with your new car, an Audi wasn’t it?
Thought you might like an update to my previous post. XC40 Recharge ordered on 17th June. Had a call from the Dealership, it’s on its way from wherever they are parked in this country and it should be ready for collection in the next 10 days. I have asked for a couple of extras so that may slow things down a little bit, but I seem to have been very lucky.
Anyone who is reading this who would like an XC40, it appears that for the Recharge model at least, Motability clients can order from stock. Probably MY24 but then you don’t have to wait 6 months for a build. Fingers 🤞 there are no hitches and Volvo don’t change their mind about stock vehicles for Motability.

June 27, 2024 at 4:14 pm #283186For @nshaw , @MrsL83, @Ellie finally here’s the “proof of life” pic of my new Mercedes-Benz CLA 200 AMG Line car. The digger coming out of the windscreen was not an ordered extra. lol 😆🤣 Still loving it and I’ve done almost 600 miles so far.
Looks beautiful UncJ does he/she have a name? Glad you’ve been able to fit a lot of test miles.
I want one now 😀 EnjoyJune 27, 2024 at 4:17 pm #283187June 27, 2024 at 4:35 pm #283189Thanks @jOhn @nshaw. No, no name. I could call it “sipper” I guess as we’ve gone up to Lincolnshire on hols for a few days and incredibly the car did 59 mpg to get up here. I’d heard so many stories from members on here saying they drank petrol for fun but it’s been superb, getting a minimum of 42 mpg even just doing short journeys. Reckon it must be the new mild hybrid stuff recently added to these.
Hope you get your car soon @nshaw , it’s been a long, hard road. 😕
