Hi, not new to the forum but cannot recall username or password so have registered again! The forum is as always forever helpful.
Ive just signed up for a Volvo xc40 petrol automatic soft hybrid in Pearl white after a great test drive and excellent service from ‘Ben’ at Crawley showroom. Was a little tempted by the pale blue but it seemed a little too flat for me and I always love white! Felt very informed, valued and happy with our choice. May date given but I’m not banking on that but was assured to contact him anytime for updates. Seamless application accompanied by coffees.
Currently have a Peugeot 3008 and will be happy to wave it goodbye but my other half not as much so! ? - CreatorTopic

I think most dealers are the same with regards to updates when ordering a sportage I was told by dealers not to contact them about updates as they won’t know anything until it is actually on their forecourt. After an 8 month wait I received a call from them saying that’s car arrived pick up at end of week. I had actually contacted them 2 weeks earlier to be told there’s still no updates so maybe the car producers are not even passing on updates to dealers.
May 23, 2024 at 10:01 am #278188Robert88 – I’ve learnt a lot during this process! Originally when I walked into Volvo I was expecting a stock car which was suggested over the phone. The dealer only told me it had to be a factory order once we had filled in the paperwork and he went off to his office. This was his first motability order on the 4th December. He then quoted 3 month lead time. I then thought, oh all cars must be factory orders for motability. Now I realise you can get quick cars from other dealers.
As I had no transport I should have walked away then as I’d been quoted 1 month from Lexus ( thought this would have turned into factory order on ordering) and I’d removed VW because the automatically quoted 7 months.I didn’t want to wait 8 months with hire car, taxis and standing on packed trains 🤷♀️
May 23, 2024 at 5:02 pm #278228Hi everyone 😊 sorry to not see a lot of positive news for you all waiting..I am due to collect my car on Saturday & dealer called yesterday confirming the appointment as he is off for a couple of days . My stomach did drop when I saw his missed call as I was worried it was a problem . He encouraged me to download the Volvo app which I did & entered the Vin number which showed my car is a 25 build not 24 as ordered.. to be honest I’m not bothered about the 360 camera .. my extras were the spare wheel & protection mats which are add ons so apart from seat difference I think it’s the same ? I feel awful that some ordered early December & mine was 19/12 .. will hopefully post a pic after I collect .. Will keep an eye out to see how you get on & really hope they all start arriving soon 🤞 thanks to you all for your help/ sharing of knowledge & humour on this bizarre Volvo experience , Jen xx

Good Luck tomorrow Jen 💜
Yes it looks like all of us will now be getting the MY25, I studied it last night, exactly what the differences are,
One thing I got a bit confused on is The B3 & B4,
I ordered the B4 in December it’s on my order receipt, but my order now says B3 for the MY25 that the dealer sent me last week what is being built in June.
Can anyone shed any light on that? ☺️
May 24, 2024 at 3:41 pm #278283MrsL83
I googled it and from a non car persons perspective it looked like the B4 is quicker from 0-60 than the B3.
My order says B3 and online it says it’s cheaper 🤷♀️ Was there the option to order a B3 or B4 at the time? Currently it’s called a B3P online, what ever the P means! Could be Plus

The main difference between the XC 40 B3 and B4 is engine power….. B3 = 163 hp B4 = 197 hp
As far as I can tell the XC40 B4 has never been on the scheme since Volvo Cars returned in December 2023. The only petrol mild hybrid car to come on to the scheme is the XC40 B3P Plus Dark which had an advance payment of £1999 in December 2023, this reduced to £1499 in Q1 2024 and then increased to £3499 in Q2 2024.
I think it will be up to you to decide if the 2025 model year XC40 B3P Plus Dark which you currently have on order is the right car for you?
May 24, 2024 at 4:23 pm #278290So basically it’s just about the BHP, yes I ordered Dec 2023 it was definitely the B4 and now it’s the B3, it’s no massive deal I suppose I’ll just take what arrives 😂
Could even be Fred Flintstones car 🚙 at this stage 😂😂😂
May 24, 2024 at 10:18 pm #278319As per Zero1, the B4 was never on the scheme , only the B3 in Plus trim. They both use exactly the same 2.0 petrol engine but the B4 has different engine mapping giving it higher BHP. 😉
May 25, 2024 at 9:00 am #278325i ordered my xc40 on the 23rd dec and have been notified that it is at rybrook volvo bolton
and i will be collecting 31st may i did check with the volvo app and VIN number and mine is a my24 build. i will be asking when i collect the car for its build date just to satisfy my curiosity i recieved a email on the 22nd april saying the car should be built this month then friday the 17th of may i got a phone call saying the car had arrived at the dealership which to me is extremely fast for a new build car

Maybe the fact that the Volvo dealer erroneously ordered a B4 instead of a B3 has contributed to the crazy delay you have experienced? It’s possible the B4 was delivered to the dealer and when they realised their mistake they ordered another B3 specification car which is what is now being built in June……. It would be nice to receive some honesty and transparency from your supplying Volvo dealer.
May 25, 2024 at 11:02 am #278351Transparency? Honesty? Volvo dealer?
Should all those words be in the same sentence in connection with Volvo motability orders? 😅😁
May 25, 2024 at 4:13 pm #278380It’s been confirmed mine is a MY24 and will be ready to collect end of May-ordered 020124.
May 25, 2024 at 6:16 pm #278389Hi everyone 😊 I collected my Volvo xc40 mild hybrid today .. mine was ordered 19/12 if you remember & I was told end April early May as an estimate for delivery .. he admitted to avoiding talking to me as he was embarrassed at the lack of info from Volvo .. I said to him from my perspective I would have preferred honesty from him not avoidance .. I also said the forum gave me more info than they did plus kept me optimistic ..despite previously having a high opinion of Volvo brand & an owner privately for 17years after this experience I’m not sure I would get another . Volvo the company need to own up to the fiasco & admit it giving clear timescales to those still waiting for delivery of cars & apologise at the least .
He showed me the spreadsheet they have with very limited info on it .. mine was ordered as a 24 but delivered as a 25 .. seats as you told me were now charcoal plus no 360 camera .. he went to discuss with his manager as I said I wasn’t happy .. he said to me I could refuse it based on the fact they didn’t send me the car I ordered. He also has a list of other customers to now call to say he has no idea if they will get 24 or 25 until they turn up 😳
He said about the seats being £750 & bigger wheels at £750 but I said to him if I wanted those I would have ordered them as add ons ! Plus how much did they save on removing the 360 camera ?
I went & sat in the car to think about it but weighing it all up I’m not going to wait another few months to go look for another car with 360 cameras/ grey cloth seats but resent being treated so poorly by Volvo.
Motability specialist said that it has made him so uncomfortable & stressed he was contemplating resigning after working there for 8 years .. I can understand that as I feel they have been treated poorly too by Volvo clearly they value the sales teams about as much as they do motability customers .I love the car it’s a delight to drive & despite it not being fully what I was excepting thanks to you keeping me informed I had mostly come to terms with it ..I’m not disappointed with it .. I did also say to him how bad it is that so many are still waiting & most still haven’t had honest conversations with the dealer they are dealing with .
He agreed & accepted that I was right to be disappointed & you all absolutely are right to be fed up but that they are still in the dark !
Not at all helpful to you all I’m sorry to say .. I will keep watching this forum & look forward to seeing positive news from you all soon , thanks again for all the help & advice , Jen xxMay 25, 2024 at 6:50 pm #278390Thank you for posting that-very informative. However, the dealerships citing they are in the dark and don’t know what’s going on really doesn’t sit well with me. If the dealerships take orders, which they have-they are a Customer’s first and foremost point of contact-they should know and my gut feeling is, they do-but just don’t want to admit the issues we have all been suffering-it’s easier for the dealerships to say they are non the wiser-yet they are Customer facing. My opinion is, if, as they are saying, they don’t know-then it’s for them to find out for us!
May 25, 2024 at 6:52 pm #278391Got there in the end Jen, so pleased that you’re happy with the car even though it wasn’t exactly what you ordered or were expecting. 😀👍
Cannot disagree with a single word you wrote there. Dealers are shooting themselves in the foot by not being completely honest with their customers. Most of us have faced half truths and, worse maybe, being ignored by dealers rather than give us the facts. Like you, I do not respect anyone that treats me in that manner no matter who they are or what the situation may be.
Like you, I’ve had a number of Volvo’s over the years and currently drive one but I doubt I will even consider getting another in the future due to all of this. The temerity of my dealer in the last email crowing the line “I’m not responsible for delivery times” etc being the final straw. They’re not responsible, true. But they should behave in a responsible and honest manner and keep the customer fully informed with information, no matter how little it may be, at all times thus providing an honest, open, respectful business relationship. Bare minimum in my book! [rant over 😁]
Enjoy your new car! 😉👍

Exactly this 👏👏
May 25, 2024 at 7:02 pm #278396Thank you for such a helpful post. I have heard nothing from my sales rep, but in his defence, he said I wouldn’t hear until the car was pretty much on site, as he was upfront that dealers didn’t get told anything on fleet orders, so my expecations were managed. The delay is not a problem for me as I am happy in my current Motability Tiguan indeed will be very sad to see it go.
I am intrigued whether I will get a My24 or My25 from my 1st Feb order. I would prefer the My25, so I guess I will be one of the 24ss- again something Adrian can’t tell me.
It is baffling to me how a factory can be ” shut down” and ” retooled” for the My25 spec, yet cars not built before ” shutdown” are arriving as My24s.
My car requirements have changed since I ordered , due to this, not the delay, I am seriously thinking of cancelling and ordering an Audi Q4 from stock , I can’t quite make my mind up . The higher AP is a factor, but Audi seats / the driving position suit my dodgy back and knees. I am beginning to dread dealing with Volvo for servicing for the next 3 years.
I am a veteran of XC90s when my kids were younger and am sad to see the brand in such chaos.

Thanks UncJ😊hope you get good news soon 🤞
I totally understand all of your frustrations & anger about how you are/have been treated .. it’s absolutely not acceptable on any level & them making excuses doesn’t make it right at all . If it came across wrong I apologise .
I did say that to my salesman & the manager of the dealership. Also that most people would prefer a honest conversation being ghosted & having calls /emails ignored is within the control of them personally & has nothing to do with the fiasco caused by ‘Volvo’.Take care all & keep us all updated , Jen xx

Hi Jeff998, good luck on collection, my dealer is Rybrook (Synter) Preston, shame both cars didn’t come over together being for dealers a few miles apart! Keep us posted on your progress please and also any info you can get out of your dealer would be appreciated 🙂
May 28, 2024 at 4:52 pm #278546Hi all, I’ve been watching this thread for a few weeks with interest. I ordered my xc40 on the 8th February, apparently there are two people in front of me to have a car assigned to them, whatever that means precisely I don’t know. Ordered mine from Volvo dealership Shrewsbury, anyone else ordered from Shrewsbury and if so what updates have you received?
I did jokingly ask will it be with me before Christmas, who knows was the salesman’s answer. It’s not great service to have no real answers etc.May 28, 2024 at 5:16 pm #278556Hello and welcome to the most frustrating thread on the board! 🤣
Do you mean two people ahead of you at your dealership? Surely it’ll depend on what colour and spec they’ve chosen? If they ordered black and a blue one comes along it won’t be assigned to one of them just because they’re ahead of you?! It seems to be much more of a lottery according to this thread than whose name is first on the list! I hope yours turns up soon!
May 28, 2024 at 5:22 pm #278557Good evening!
I received a reply to my enquiry again saying it’s showing on the Volvo system as arriving at the Volvo dealership end of June to early July.May 28, 2024 at 5:29 pm #278561Hi, yea he said two Motorbility customers in front of me. It really is frustrating 😢
